Is it just me, or is there something going on between Irving and Greagoir?

Spoilers ahead, of course.

Nothing is stated specifically, but there seems to be something more between Irving and Greagoir than just a rocky, acrimonious friendship. You be the judge...

- In the Mage Origin, you can have a discussion with Irving where he refers to Greagoir as "my colleague", then quickly corrects himself to say "our colleague".

- When Jowan escapes, the first thing Irving asks when he comes to is if Greagoir is all right.

- When you return to the Tower, Greagoir goes on about how it's "too painful" to hope for survivors.

- When you rescue Irving and return to Greagoir, Greagoir seems to be nearly beside himself that Irving's all right.

So, I suppose that this could all be because they're really good friends...but it's always struck me that there was something more under the surface. I don't think they're "together", but if circumstances were different....I wonder.

They are used to bickering and use their metaphorical children as pawns in a game for dominance.

But I doubt there is something physical about it though.

You are reading waaaaaaay too much into this in my opinion.

Those two have known eachother for probably most of their adult lives. They closely work together. They respect eachother. They ahve learned from eachother. They have come to know that they both are very lucky that the other one is the one holding that position and not someone else.

They live and work in the tower. Just as the mags don't leave, so are the templars confined to it through their duty.

There does not need to be any romantic feeling to care deeply about a person you have been seeing, talking to and working with very day for what could easily be 40+ years judging by their apparent age.

I asked a slash orientated friend of mine when I saw that theory popping up on here and she told me "No."

::shrugs::

Just something that I'd been thinking about, so I thought I'd put it out there for discussion.

they could be brothers you know doesnt have to be that their getting freaky, or Gregoir could be Irvings son? lol maybe far fetched but hey what can we expect. Or they could just have a bromance its when to guys are closer than brothers (kinda like JD and Turk from Scrubs

Well irving looks much older than Greigor, he might just be his son, or maybe a close relative.

I think he is a victim to the Arl Eamon disease of looking older than you are.

I ended up letting Irving die in my last play-through. Greagoir stepped down as Knight-Commander and eventually died alone after refusing aid. What they don't mention is that sickness was a broken heart...

I think the "my" changing to "our" is more because of the PC's change in status from an apprentice to a full blown mage...

As for the rest of it, there are plenty of people I know from a day to day working basis that I don't even particularly like that if I thought they were killed horribly I would be upset about and really relieved if it turned out they were okay.

Well, no... unless I felt guilty about locking the doors and sealing them to their fate and I didn't attempt a rescue but let some unknown level 6 try and do the rescuing for me.....

Can't feel THAT guilty about it, after he's still in the end a templar first and a friend to Irving second.

Unless... maybe...

Irving and Greigor were childhood friends, until Irving was forced to move into the Tower, and Irving decided to go train to be a Templar so he can keep watch after his best friend and protect him from the other Templars?

I smell a slash fic!
