I'll pick up a PS4 when there are enough exclusives to warrant it, which is what I did with the PS3. I'm not touching an Xbox One like ever.

PS seems little less EAger to perform sodomy on customers. Also, apparently you can actually use Playstation to play video games.... Since I don't enjoy sodomy but I do enjoy playing video games I'd prolly pick PS. Buuut yeaah no reason in sight not to be paert of master race come next generation as well so tis bit theoretical.

I'm serious. Why on earth would I want a console that pretends to be a PC when I got a powerful PC already to play the more.... immersion heavy games? With the Wii the entire family can play together in the living room, you can play with Mario with your date (try pulling that of with God of War), there's Zelda, Monster Hunter and the virtual console that makes NES games even available.

For the more "hardcore" singleplayer and multiplayer experience = PC
For the fun stuff = Wii

I'll probably stick with my 360 until MS shuts down the servers. After that I don't know. Probably depends on what games are on what system

After I have experienced both Xbox360 and PS3 first hand, I'm pretty sure I won't buy their next iterations. I'm fine with my PC and a controller for some console ports.

Let me just say this....years ago there was never this silly talk of pc being better than consoles...it was always a given, now that consoles are doing things that are still lesser than a pc but impressive overall, there's this conversation of why get a console when you can have a pc?

Because bottom line is that consoles at the end of the day are still made for gaming....and graphics? can anybody at this stage really agrue about that? Currently the 360 and ps3 are still shelling out some impressive looking games...Dead Space3, Tomb Raider, Last of Us...Remember Me...Beyond...Batman AC.

So it's a bit telling that only now we're starting to see these pc vs console arguments....it only means that pc gamers at the very least have seen and noticed how far consoles have come since the atari 2600 days. Of course consoles will never be better than any high end pc, but they are doing things for the pc crowd to take notice. That said, i'm still leaning towards ps4, but i read this article...

Which is something that i've stated that publishers should do a looong time ago in reference to used games. Let them get a cut of the used games market and everybody is happy, but the whole MS still having games locked to accounts and games not being able to be played a friends or relatives house is still complete garbage tho.

So, poster above, would you approve that you paid a cut to Honda (or whatever brand) when you sell your old car?

Don't get wrong...in other threads and forums i've stated and used the example you've used here in  terms of how Car manufacturers don't get paid from used car sales...so it really shouldn't apply, BUT i knew something was going to happen, because there was just too much going on about how dev's were complaining about not being paid for used games.

So, i just generally stated, if dev's are really losin' so much money (because they are already gettin paid from new game sales) why don't they just get a small precentage from used games.....which it looks like is what is going to happen, the drawback of course is that this is probably going to raise the prices of used games....as seen in the article.

Given that the rest of my family really digs Kinect for whatever reason, I'll most likely get a One. I built my PC back in 2011 and have been incrementally upgrading since then, so I'll have most of my bases covered.

Actually,  these arguments have been around forever.  It's not that the consoles are "Doing thing for the pc crowd to take notice",  there's nothing a console can do that couldn't be done,  and done better,  on a PC.  Even living room gaming could be done significantly better with a PC if Microsoft had developed their OS to facilitate that.  They haven't,  simply because it would cannibalize their console market*.

Generally,  these arguments start because console players are trying to validate their choice,  because they (naturally) want to believe that they have the best possible system.  It usually ends up with people tossing out a variety of myths about consoles,  like the oft repeated "The Console is a dedicated game machine so it's better at it",  when the reality is that the PC consistently remains far more powerful and adaptable.

You yourself fall prey to this kind of assertion with your list of games,  take those games and optimize them for the PC,  and I guarantee you that you'll stop asserting that their beautiful or that consoles are in any way comparable to PC's.

Thankfully,  all of these arguments are really over now though.  The PS4 and the XboxO are both PC's.  The platform wars are now over,  and Consoles are dead.  The final generation of consoles was the 360/PS3.  Now what we have is a blackbox PC that can be targeted as the LCD.

*XboxO is clearly going to fail.  MS's response is going to be an adaptive OS that recognizes if it's attached to a monitor or TV,  and change it's UI appropriately.  They'll quit messing around with consoles,  and leverage their PC dominance to start taking over the living room by allowing the console experience to occur with a PC.  Figure by mid to late 2014 MS will realize the XboxO is DOA,  and we'll start seeing them talk about the new "Windows Anywhere" that makes this happen.

Both look like **** tbh(though the Xbox One is the worst by far) so neither. I'm just going to break down and work up the money for a better PC.

Just picked up the Wii U and 3 games. One of them an original Wii game....The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Using backwards compatibility.

This alone will keep me busy, along with finishing Skyrim and New Vegas on the 360. Not renewing my Xbox Live account when it expires in two months.

And then, of course, my main baby this generation will be the PlayStation 4. I never owned a PlayStation in my life, but it looks great, sounds great and will play great on my 50" Sony Bravia HD 1080p. I am one person out of many who will be switching to PlayStation or buying the PS4 in general. I told GameStop to email me and give me a call when PS4 is available for reservation. I will never, ever, ever touch the Xbox One, and I never want to see one in person, either, less its camera record me.

I am one of the coveted early adopting, pre-order, evangelist customers. I'm only one making the easy as gravy switch. And just in my circle of friends and family, just in my little microcluster, my brother and two friends are doing the exact same.

Anybody that buys an ecksbawks1 is a fool. Don't condone Microgreed's antics by forking over your cash.

If you show them that they can pull this crap they will keep right on pulling it and in time, if they succeed, the other companies will follow suit. There will be nowhere left to run.

Don't partake in the destruction of the industry.

If Sony keeps the online features free it keeps getting my money. Assuming of course that the price of a PS4 isn't completely unreasonable, and that the console seems like it's worth my money (has good games, doesn't have invasive features etc.). I probably won't be buying at lauch anyway, depending on my financial situation...

I don't know, there's so much still in the air. I might just as well go with the XBO if it truly ends up being the better console, but from my very European, ice-hockey loving point of view, Microsoft seems to have very little to offer me. Granted, both Sony and Microsoft have been somewhat quiet /  cryptic about what their console really does and doesn't do, so I quess I'll just hang at the back with my PS3 and wait for a while. I honestly don't care which one I end up getting as long as it meets my needs well enough.

But anyway...

True, but PC gaming lacks one thing that the consoles have: user-friendliness.

I've gamed both on consoles and the PC, and the fact is that by gaming on the PS3 I haven't had any compatibility issues, no "programme encountered an unspecified error" -messages, no mysteriously vanishing saves, and no need to pay several hundred euros for new graphics card or other upgrades. I can also buy used games at significantly lowered prices, and I can game comfortably -- PC gaming almost killed my shoulders. By gaming on a console, I pop in the disk, wait for install, possibly download some patches and updates, and then I play. No finding out about extra hoops I have to take to take to make this game work on this version of my OS, no deleting cache-files or turning off the antivirus software because it messes with the launcher, and so on.

Of course by gaming on the consoles you lose some awesome features PC gaming has, like modding and the ability to optimise graphics to your liking: my PS3 copy of DA:O looks absolutely hideous most of the time, but when played on a high-end PC, it looks gorgeous.

Your argument that console gamers are just making up excuses to make themselves feel better is really misguided, since both console gamers and PC gamers are right: consoles are made for gaming, so for some people they're the better option, and PC games are more powerful and adaptible, and have cool features that the consoles lack. But console gamers and PC gamers are talking straight past eachother, since this is a game of "win some, lose some" and both parties are prioritizing different issues, and arguing about whose priorities are better is just pointless.

I have to say that I somewhat agree with you about the end of consoles; since both XBO and PS4 seem to have cloud gaming features, this could very well be the last console cycle. I woundn't agree they are PC's, since while that might be technically / functionally true, I can't (and I don't want to) do my shopping, operate word processing software, or pay my bills on the PS3 / PS4, which is what most PC's are for -- or at least in most cases and for most people those are some if their primary functions -- so I wouldn't say consoles have turned into PCs.

I had my PS3 and 360 die on me due to the YLOD and RROD. I STILL have an HD 5770 which is by no means expensive and I bought it 3 years ago. It can run games like Witcher 2, Skyrim and Battlefield just fine at 1920x1200 res. People who say that you someone has to spend hundreds of dollars/euros for a GPU has no idea what the hell they are talking about and should not even bring it up.

I hope they do that but it seems like they want to have an internet connection to verify your game at least once.
