PS4. Was planning on buying it before the Xbox One reveal(lol) and it just reinforced that.

I'm a PC gamer and will stick with the PC. I do own PS3 though. If I had to pick between those two, it would definitely be PS4.

The PS4 will let you emulate PS3 titles, right?

When you can find (or build) a PC for $300-$500 that can run these games and offers the convience a console does, you let me know, OdanUrr. As HD said, I want to pop a disc in, hit start and play. I don't want to deal with system requirements and all of that mess. That, and I just don't like the PC community. The one for Xbox and PlayStation isn't great by any means, but there's a special kind of douchebaggery that runs rampant with PC gamers.

I lol'd!

Peasants 4 life!<3

My PC says I cant hang out with you guys anymore... and that I have to get better friends.

:D I still wuv yeah even though you're a master-race douche!:innocent:

I'm a PC gamer but if I ever buy a console in the future it will definitely be the PS4. The XBOX ONE is a bad joke.

Besides my GameBoy of old I've been a PC gamer most of my life, but my best friend always had the recent Nintendo and Sony consoles. Most of my friends these days have a PS3, and since it got more exclusives I cared about by far I got one as well a few years ago. Xbox never offered anything I was that interested in, tbh.

After the reveal of the Xbox One it looks like they tried to design a system that takes the least appealing aspects of both console and PC gaming (like prevention of used game sales and non-upgradable hardware), and instead of offering any really spectacular things to make up for that they added some Xbox eclusive drawbacks (forced Kinect). In combination with the TV stuff that simply won't do anything for folks outside the USA it's just a huge package of "why the **** should I even consider buying this?". I seriously doubt their exclusive games catalogue will be as overwhelmingly desirable as it would have to be to win me over.

So far it looks like if anything I'm going to stay a Playstation customer. But since I still have a lot of games for both PS3 and PC I haven't played and some quite promising Kickstarter games are going to find their way into my home in the future I guess I won't need to join the new console genration for a few more years anyawys.

PS4 for sure. Not buying it anytime soon, however. PC was my main platform this gen and that is not going to change. Not to mention my PS3 still has a lot of games I haven't played.

Definitely would get the PS4 if I was going to get a console. The exclusive would remain exclusives and its a better system.

Honestly the Wii U is the one I'm most interested at this point.

But I'm a PC

As someone who gets sporadic use at best out of the xbox 360 that's in the house and consequently doesn't care to pay monthly for an xbox live subscription, the once-a-day login requirement of the xbox one is a complete dealbreaker.

I also tend to borrow games from my sister from time to time. So, yeah. Screw that.

I'll get the PS4. Mostly an PC gamer, but the PS4 seems to be very appealing. Only if it had backward compability....

Good for you.

OdanUrr wrote...

I assume you mean "convenience." What convenience are you referring to?

Yes, "convenience." I'm aware of the spelling of the word. I would have edited it earlier if I had the means, but I didn't. The fact you feel the need to point shows what kind of argument you like to present.

Like I said, the price is part of the convenience. PCs aren't really user friendly to the untrained, either, and I'd classify myself and "untrained". I have never played a game on PC (or even set-up or built one) in my life, and I'd like to keep it that way. Like I also said (which seems to be something I'll need to regularly repeat when I have run-ins with you), I can go out, buy a console, plug it in and play (after some small set-up). I don't have to upgrade my console once to stay up to date, which something you seem to think is a con. I like it. All of this is a matter of preference, after all.

OdanUrr wrote...

Well, with the next-gen consoles you still need to install your games and disk space becomes a premium.

I'm aware. I'm going to assume installing on a console and booting up to play (along with tinkering with settings) isn't nearly as much of a hassle as it is on a PC.

OdanUrr wrote...

I'm afraid that is not a PC exclusive (not to mention it's a rather offensive generalization).

Yeah, that's kind of why I said the communities on Xbox and PlayStation aren't exactly great, or did you conveniently skip over that part? "Douchebaggery" usually has an offensive connotation behind it, so I'm glad you were able to pick up on that. You're quite the perceptive one. That's the vibe most of the PC gamers I have met on here and other forums give off. "Condescending" is also a good word for it. Is that less offensive for you?

Only using GAIKAI if I remember correctly. There's no backwards compatibility. Though you will have access to PS1 and PS2 titles as well as the PS3 ones.

I am not a fan at all of this Cloud gaming business. I'd rather see a cheap emulating machine sold on the side.

PS4. Used games fee, regardless of what price it is, has killed interest in the Xbox One almost entirely, and that's as a die-hard Halo fan and someone who bought the 360 six years ago specifically for Halo 3.

Actually, that's anything but good. Whereas the PS4 or the X1 might cost $500 in the US, it could easily reach thrice as much here.

It was actually an honest question, I was guessing you meant to say "convenience." There's no need to seek malice where none was intended.

Like I said, the price is part of the convenience. PCs aren't really user friendly to the untrained, either, and I'd classify myself and "untrained". I have never played a game on PC (or even set-up or built one) in my life, and I'd like to keep it that way. Like I said before, that used to be an advantage with older consoles (including the 360 and the PS3) since their architecture wasn't remotely close to the PC. Thus, you were always assured that if you bought a game for a console it would always work whereas, in the case of the PC, you'd have to check your specs more often than not. With next-gen consoles adopting a PC-like architecture it seems to me this advantage will no longer exist so long as your PC shares similar or better specs to the X1 or the PS4. Playing a game strictly from the disc will no longer be possible although it seems you will be able to stream it until installation is complete.

I'm aware. I'm going to assume installing on a console and booting up to play (along with tinkering with settings) isn't nearly as much of a hassle as it is on a PC.

Yes, I do believe it'll still be easier to play a game on a console even with the install.

I'm sorry you believe my attitude to be condescending, far from it, my reply was entirely factual.

C. Continue to use my PS3 until the PS4 drops in price and has a reasonable library of games. Just like I did with PS2 ---> PS3.

If it's a free service, then it would be quite cool. Somehow I think one has to pay at least a bit if they want to play their old PS3 games that way.

Right now I'm satisfied with my PC, and still use my Xbox 360 for netflix. However, if my Xbox for any reason were to ever become unusuable for its purpose as an entertainment console, I am leaning toward replacing it with a Wii U.

PS4. If it's anything like it's predecessor, it'll be a great blu-ray player. For games, I'll stick w/ my PC.

I got the 360 and the PS3 this generation, but honestly i didn't play that much on them so i had decided to just stick with PC long before the reveals happened.

Now after seeing the reveals i feel that decision is right..by a factor of 1000.
