Some people sell them in order to buy a new one. Personally I keep them stored. Still have my PS2 slim.

Not to mention that if they age out or break you have to buy a new one to play your old games again. And the PS2 is still over 120 bucks.

Pretty much. I have a PS2, a PS3 that can't be backwards compatible (the lesser version, cuz it was cheaper and I didn't have much money at the time I ordered it off of Amazon), so if I get a PS4 I'll have three systems for three different sets of games, all of which are bulky as hell.

It's a matter of room saving (and cash garnering). But, from what Billy the Squid told me of the PS4's recent changes, I'm less upset about the lack of backwards compatibility.

Like I said, room saving and cash garnering. If you have a new system capable of playing old games, then you don't have to go through the trouble of changing wires, moving systems around, etc. And you can get some cash on the side.

Course, I've never actually sold any of my older systems, backwards compatibility or no. But that's cuz I'm a hoarder. I'll use the backwards compatibility (my Wii is the only one capable of that), but I don't actually sell my old systems.

I got a question for you lot that wanna buy a ps4 and Xboxone (lol at the latter), why do you guys want to buy a console that tries to be a PC instead of getting a console that offers you a different experience from the PC (the Wii and Wii U)?

Exclusives, and its easier to be a console gamer all you have to worry about is sticking the disc in the console.

PC. More console devs are porting games over to PC as well, which is encouraging.

You don't have to look at system requirements, use a controller instead of a mouse, the consoles are more powerful than the Wii U. It should really show in about a year with new games made for the Xbox One and PS4 which aren't for 360 etc.  Use your tv instead of a monitor.

Some exclusives never leave their consoles. Halo 3 is about 5 years old and isn't going to hit the PC anytime soon. That said, I'm still quite a distance from even considering buying either.

The PC has more exclusives and it's easier to be a PC gamer, all you have to worry about is buying the game on Steam and automatically downloading it to your harddrive. 

Also, with the next-generation consoles, it's no longer going to be "just sticking the disk in the console", not with the PS4 and not with the Xbox One either. Installing the games and activating them is going to be required.

*flushhhhhhhhhhhhh* there goes the only good reason left to buy a console.  Better start saving up for a gaming PC bro.

PC doesn't have Naughty Dog, Quantic Dream, Team Ico, Sucker Punch, thatgamecompany Or Insomniac. Still plenty of reasons to buy a Sony console at least.

This for me too, but also, I just love the experience of gaming on my console. I intensely dislike trying to play games on my PC or laptop. I just don't find it as immersive or enjoyable.

Bottom line: everyone has preferences that work for them. I respect that PC gaming is fantastic and preferable for many people. It would be nice if more PC gamers would show console gamers the same respect, instead of calling us names and insulting us for the choices we make.

I'm waiting to hear more about the PS4, but I'm leaning towards no console this coming gen.

I will NOT buy the new Xbox while the Kinect is 100% required.  Call me paranoid, but I have no desire to have an always on mic/camera in my house that's theoretically always required to be connected to the internet.  Not to mention that there's not a single feature of Kinect 1.0 or Kinect One that is remotely appealing to me.

I really wish there was more than a single game for the Wii U that I wanted to play (Monster Hunter) to justify the cost.  I'm not really into the vast majority of Nintendo stuff (Mario/etc), so knowing that those are all coming isn't really exciting to me.

But right now, for next gen consoles, I'm looking at, in order, PS4, Wii U or nothing.

Disregarding the Kinect thing, my enjoyment of my 360 has deteriorated over the years.  The interface has just gotten slower and slower and more cluttered an annoying to use as they've added more and more functionality (that I don't use) to it.  While, in my experience, the PS3 has gotten better.  That being said, I've had a 360 since fall of '06 and a PS3 since only fall of '11.  But right now I much prefer the current PS3 interface and PSN stuff over the 360's interface and Live.  And now that I think about it, I haven't purchased a 360 game since Portal 2, but I have purchased PS3 and PC games since then (numerous ones).

Edit - Whoops!  I forgot ME 3.  I bought that for the 360.  But I try to forget I ever played that game.
