Fast.

Is Final Fantasy 14 even any good though? I'm curious to see how they approach that game.

I once played FFXI for 7 years which is relevant. Essentially, the dude who ran FFXI(Tanaka) for its beginning and middle (which kinda sucked) left to create FF14. Yoshida took over running FFXI, leading to awesome and fun content and a general revival of the game. Almost simultaneously, FF14 premiered and bombed. Tanaka got kicked off the project and back to FFXI again (which mysteriously started sucking again) and Yoshida became the new director for FF14: A Realm Reborn.

This is all a very boring way of saying it could be damn good, even if it's still using the outdated subscription model.

They're basically relauching the game then. This game seems like it could be good with Yoshida on board. It's not a must buy for me, but there is a feature in the game that may make me want to check the game out more but it's a bit more personal, so I'd just say that I'm gonna be watching this game closely to see how it turns out. Thanks. =]

Microsoft has got to lower their price before launch. They've got to if they want any chance to be competitive next gen. Cause Sony is playing for keeps. I'm sure all the PR and marketing for MS is saying the same thing. Or maybe not, they're probably all yes men and women over there at MS. But I fear without at least. A Least. A 50 dollar price cut and non-DRM, xbox will be going the way of the Dino's.

I'd say if it reversed its policy on drm and 24hr log in, it would be ok.

but you'd still be paying $100 more for less advanced tehnology. I mean, the differences between DDR3 and DDR5 aren't huge for the end user, but try buying consumer DDR5 kits. You can't, and if you could they'd be very expensive. MS has to cut that price to be competitive, because in the end it's money that talks.

Yep, pretty much, and this time they'll actually have Final Fantasy jobs, which as you can tell from my username I'm a bit happy about!

Realm Reborn Dragoon armor is just too sexy.

After what just happened, I think Microsoft has to-

A. Lower the price of the Xbox One to $399
B. Get rid of the policies the consumers hate

Will they? Probably not.

Which means THIS time, Sony's got the head start.

Seeing as how Xbox One has higher pre-order, I would just wait for a few days to see if the number of pre-order ship to Sony. Who know? Maybe used games feature would not be enough to put people off the system if they have fantastic line-up, and they do.

Like I said before getting rid of the 24 hour DRM alone would improve sales.

Yeah, The Xbox One as of right now STILL has higher preorder numbers, but I see that switching fast.

Very fast.

Nice armor, it's a bit too anime like for my taste, but hopefully, we see more features as the game approaches its release date. Like I said, I'll be watching this game closely.

Yeah but it had very loyal fans, and they would pay the extra, but at the minute it has too much going against it.

TBH though I'm glad MS needs to be sent a message, about how it threats its customers, and Sony did that.

I'm a bit disappointed though at the lack of Prince of Persia.

I still think they would need a price cut. The PS4 is 100 bucks cheaper. 20 percent cheaper than an XB1. That's a lot. And it might be to much for MS to overcome. The xbox 360 came out first by what, like 7 or 8 months? I can't remember. But the 360 was always cheaper than the PS3. it wasn't unitl the PS3 drastically reduced it's price from the 600 dollar launch tag to 400 dollars, then they started making up ground. But this gen both consoles will most likely lauch within weeks of each other. November for XB1, I don't think PS4 will be far behind it.

At the moment I'd say Microsoft will probably be competitive. If they cut the price to $399 (probably after waiting four weeks or so), they will definitely be competitive. Of course, somebody posted over in the other thread they might wait until a couple months after launch when they can undertake a sales review. That's a big gamble, though, when simply eating another $100 would all but guarantee they can compete on an even footing. This is Microsoft we're talking about, after all - both they and Sony are economic giants that can pull money from a lot of different sectors, and the console is going to be a loss leader either way.

Part B? I don't know that it helps them out significantly, certainly not more than cutting the price would. This might shock a lot of people inside the cocoon of the internet gamer community, but a once-a-day internet connection and used games are less of a big deal than you think they are. If the game lineup isn't the deciding factor then pricing will be, not the DRM policies.

I think its needless to say that Sony wins.

I agree completely, although a while back you said "How can you not buy a PS4?"  (or something along those lines)

I basically said how can you not be interested in one, not purchase one. :)

Ah yes looking back you did say that, but like I said, I am pretty happy with my current gaming setup and only watched this year's E3 out of interest in the games.  While both consoles look promising, in terms of hardware and exclusives, I have no interest in buying one, although many of the exclusives do interest me.

Sony needs to get their system out before Microsoft if they want to seal in the deal, but it doesn't seem to be likely. A lot of people buy the system on impulse and some buy the system just to play with their friends.

I love how Sony closed the show with a smug looking Delsin Rowe.

Who is voiced by the guy who voices Booker Dewitt

Can they "reverse" this kind of tech that simply?

While I see your point...Ubisoft had a consistent, always-online system that gamers were used to (not necessarily happy about, but used to)...and they pulled it. Patched it out of their games. Pretty interesting.

Is the DRM built into the X1? if so then not a good move.

Aye. That is a tactic Microsoft will take advantage of. Wait for Sony to make the first move on a release date, then release their console first.
