Microsoft has got to lower their price before launch. They've got to if they want any chance to be competitive next gen. Cause Sony is playing for keeps. I'm sure all the PR and marketing for MS is saying the same thing. Or maybe not, they're probably all yes men and women over there at MS. But I fear without at least. A Least. A 50 dollar price cut and non-DRM, xbox will be going the way of the Dino's.
I'd say if it reversed its policy on drm and 24hr log in, it would be ok.
I still think they would need a price cut. The PS4 is 100 bucks cheaper. 20 percent cheaper than an XB1. That's a lot. And it might be to much for MS to overcome. The xbox 360 came out first by what, like 7 or 8 months? I can't remember. But the 360 was always cheaper than the PS3. it wasn't unitl the PS3 drastically reduced it's price from the 600 dollar launch tag to 400 dollars, then they started making up ground. But this gen both consoles will most likely lauch within weeks of each other. November for XB1, I don't think PS4 will be far behind it.
$400 vs $500 is not nearly as bad as $400 vs $600 - especially when Sony had such a **** launch lineup for the PS3 (GIANT ENEMY CRABS) - but I do agree that a price cut is needed. I was predicting before this that it would come in at $399 and that, at the very least, Microsoft would unerstand the importance of not being undercut by Sony when that was such a big factor in allowing them to jump out to a lead last time.
Be interesting to see what the consoles come bundled with, though, both of them have been doing some good business on that front. Perhaps if Microsoft includes some good games and more accessories they can more easily justify the $499 price tag.
