I think Nintendo will steal the show this year, even if they claim to have a smaller presence this year on the expo floor. Their WiiU and 3DS game line-up looks absolutely sick. We're finally going to see all those glorious Nintendo games that so many of us have been waiting for - for almost over a year!

- Zelda Wind Waker HD for the Wii U.
- A new Zelda Wii U title.
- Zelda A Link To The Past 2 (3DS).
- Super Smash Bros 4 (on both Wii U and 3DS!).
- A new 3D Mario on the Wii U.
- Mario Kart Wii U.
- Bayonetta 2.
- Fire Emblem for the Wii U.

I'm sure I've forgotten a few titles, but those are the ones I'm excited for. This is gonna be good!

X. All of the X.

Oh man, that looks awesome! I never tried anything related to the Xenosaga series. It looks a lot like Monster Hunter. Is this game also about hunting big monsters?

Yeah, others have compared it to Monster Hunter too. I don't think there has been any official info released about it aside from the trailer, though (that I could find, anyway), so it's hard to say. It just looks amazing.

I was just thinking that Microsoft should worry about people giving up entirely on the X1 by the time E3 arrives. This interlude between the reveal and E3 is not being at all kind to Microsoft.

Its not even 3 weeks, if people aren't open minded and give up that quickly they are WAY too fickle to ever be happy with the gaming industry.

First impressions are vitally important, though. The X1's first impression has been stunningly bad. Accurate or not, many people have already completely written it off. The longer that first impression is reinforced by Internet rumors, the harder it is going to be to dispel those rumors in time for the console release.

The damage being done in the three weeks between the MS event last week until E3 will likely be still a huge hurdle for MS to overcome here in six months, when people are picking out their consoles. There are going to be people who believe every negative thing being said about the X1 right now, even if MS comes out at E3 and says it is not so (something I'm not convinced they will even do, honestly), simply because it is the first thing they heard and anything else is just PR BS... even if it is the truth.

So even if MS has a flawless E3 presence, they will still be fighting the MS Event last week well into November and beyond.

Agreed. Which is more a problem with how people think, really. People should understand that neither Sony or Microsoft have been very clear on some subjects, and there's plenty of time to change things around if there really is a colossal backlash, so they need to sit back and wait.

Lol Well, if you ever figure out how to make people logical and not prone to extreme bias, come let me know. I'd be interested in learning the secret.

Still, it's PR 101. They had to know their "reveal" wouldn't go down well, particularly since none of the larger issues were addressed.

So would I. But if I figured it out, would people believe me? Chances are besides you and I it would simply be a semi-confirmed rumor

Anywhoozle, I wonder how Microsoft is gonna divide time between talking about the console itself and all the games they're gonna be piling into presentations.

After the reaction MS got, its been reported that both Sony and MS are looking into changing what they originally planned, as they both had some of the same ideas, or rather similar ideas.

I don't think we'll hear anything at E3 about it though. Just gaaames.

The million dollar question is whether they can make changes and what changes.

I think that would be a big mistake. Because even if MS (and Sony, allegedly) were going to be changing their policies, people are going to keep believing they are true. It would be better to come out strong against those rumors at E3, even if you don't have exact details, than come out and try and dodge the issue with games, even if it is because you are changing things for what many consumers consider the better.

At the same time, people are gonna go, "THIS again? Just show me the GAMES ALREADY!"

So its a hell of a delicate situation. If things got loud on the 21st, they'll get louder after the 10th and the days following.

Well, to be fair, people were rolling their eyes at the MS presentation because they kept talking about the console's use for things OTHER than gaming. If they want to talk about their console as it relates to the games industry and how it will affect gamers, I think people would be much more engaged and excited.

Its only when they talk about TV features and "better with Kinect" stuff instead of what it will actually do to enhance the gaming experience that people will be agitated.

Which is why Microsoft made the mistake of not telling people that the the gaming stuff(i.e. the good stuff) was being saved for E3 and all the extra stuff(i.e. the stuff we don't care for) was being shown early so as to leave E3 purely for the games themselves.

Did they really expect anyone other than gamers would watch their reveal event?

You have to remember that far more people will read about it than watch it - including many people that aren't part of the hardcore gamer group. All the set-top box features may mean nothing to you or me (for the most part), but that could easily be a big draw for somebody else.

I'm still sore that Spike is covering E3 now that G4 is defunct. They couldn't keep G4's door's open for ten more months to cover the biggest E3 in nearly half a decade? For shame!

It was- I've heard quite a few people who aren't gamers and still aren't interested in gaming say that they thought that stuff was really cool and they may just get an X1 for it.

So on that front, success. For gamers, we have E3.

G4 was Cops.

E3 deserves better than Spike though. With E3 and the VGA's now...jeez.

Look, guys, I'm gonna be totally blunt here.

If you've been paying attention to the success of the Wii and the increasing prevalence of HTPCs and media receivers like the Roku or Apple TV. then Microsoft's press conference makes sense. If you haven't, then yeah, you probably don't think it did.
