My question:

If I've played DAO, Awakening, Witch Hunt and Golems of Amgarrak with the same character, importing from one to the next, will my decisions from the main game and Awakening be recognized when I import the final save from the last DLC I played into DA2? If not, how can I make it so that DA2 recognizes all the relevant decisions?

Yes and no.

If you imported your character through Origins->Awakening->Golems->WH, it is enough to import your Witch Hunt end save into DA2 to get all the decisions into DA2. However, the impact of these decisions in DA2 is not nearly as big as many people would like to. You get a few cameos, side quests and codex entries. Golems and WH themselves have no effect on DA2.

O>A>GA>WH. As long as you import the WH autosave at the end, you should be good for future DA games (DA3 included).

The same applies to DA2 DLC; the very last save you initiated should be the one you carry over to DA3. It's much easier to save manage in DA2 since the DLC is integrated into the main game, unlike Origins.

I know you had good intentions but TC didn't ask for your opinion on the impact-- sort of unnecessary and mildly spoiler'ish. Sort of a killjoy, lol. Let him/her experience it and come to a conclusion themselves.

Considering the "OMG, my choices didn't have any impact on the sequel, what did I do wrong?" complaints have been quite frequent, I wouldn't call that caveat unnecessary. Of course what constitutes a spoiler is highly subjective, so sorry if it was interpreted as such.

No apology necessary -- you were just helping and explaining the general consensus. I may have taken the question too literally, so for all I know, you might've addressed Ieldra2's underlying concerns. :)

At the risk of temporarily derailing this thread (let's just call it an unscheduled station stop), it's quite possible that decisions made in Golems and/or Witch Hunt might have some sort of impact in the upcoming DA title.

I noticed that you didn't mention "Return to Ostagar". Have you played that one yet?

Understood but it was still classified as a DLC like Golems and Witch Hunt. Was wondering if OP played it and if any decisions made there carried forward.

Actually that question would make sense.

Thank you for your help, everyone.

Since someone wanted to know: I have all DAO DLC and played everything but Darkspawn Chronicles, which I haven't started, and Golems, which I'm in. It's just that in-game DLC are unimportant for technical import considerations.

I also know that consequences in DA2 are minor to nonexistent since I've played it several times with fake import data. However, minor or not, it is important for me that I keep my different continuities intact, and there may be bigger consequences in DAI.

One more question: it appears that Golems of Amgarrak doesn't have a final autosave. Is it Ok if I import to Witch Hunt from right before I fight the Harvester?

^ The game assumes you pretty much have beaten the Harvester at that point; you can go ahead and use the auto save, or just save manually before the fight. Since there aren't any choices or differing plot elements subsequent to the auto save, you're good.

I don't even think any plot flags are carried over from Amgarrak-- the ones visually mentioned at least.

Awakening doesn't have a final autosave either. You have to use the one before the final boss.
