With my beloved desktop getting fried from a storm around 2 years ago, and my current craptop's hardrive failing, and me not being too excited by the incoming consoles, I've been looking into getting a gaming PC. I want to be able to play Bethesda and Bioware stuff mainly and mod the hell out of them. Would this be good? Or if you're going to suggest I build one, could you tell me the parts I should get, how much they cost, and somewhere I could get them put together?

Build your own, its cheaper and better. There are too many parts to list them all and if you're going to build your PC, you might want to choose them yourself instead of having someone choose them for you. I'll name the parts but I'm afraid I can't actually tell which parts you should get.
Anyways here's what you need:
CPU: Intel or AMD
GPU: AMD Radeon and Nvidia
Hard Drive and/or Solid State Drive, you can have both if you want
RAM sticksMotherboard
Power Supply
Optical Drive
Case

You should ask this this place if you want to know more, they have more experience on the topic than anybody else here does.

There's too many brands of everything to list them all and most of have different pricing. You should look them up and see which ones suit your needs. I found and bought all my parts through Amazon, but http://www.newegg.com/ is a very good place to find almost anything too.

First of all, buying the parts and assembling the PC yourself is always (well 99% of the time) cheaper and with you having total control on what components and manufacturers to chose generally the best bet to optimize your system to your liking.

As you seem a bit inexperienced according to your own wording I could give some suggestions on builds if you answer the following questions:

1.) Do you already have a monitor you plan to use? Mouse and keyboard, maybe speakers if you need them (if monitor doesn't have integrated speakers for example)?

2.) What do you use your PC for? Gaming mostly, or do you perform professional tasks (video editing, en- and decoding, 3D modelling) too? In anycase, give a rundown on what you expect would be the most taxing load for those tasks you imagine you will put the PC under.

3.) How upgradeable do you want the system to be (as in, do you look at possibly adding new components like soundcards, additional graphic cards, drives, etc.)?

4.) What budget?

1. Yup, got all that, they've been collecting dust after the pc I used the with fried. 2. Watching YouTube, Internet browsing, and games is about it. Wouldn't really use it for anything else. I expect the games would be the most taxing. 3. Doesn't really matter to me, since as you've guessed, I don't know much in the way of building pcs. 4. Probably under 1k

If you're in the US (or Canada) check out NCIXUS.com (ncix.com for Canada). I buy almost all my parts from them, as they tend to have the best prices here and if they don't, they'll usually price match. They run sales every week, with a summer sale every year as well where the discounts are steeper than the weeklies.

*edit* Another site you can use for advice is motherboards.org

In that case I take it you want a decent gaming PC budget 1k bucks tops:

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
AMD FX-6350
ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0
G.Skill DIMM 8 GB DDR3-1866 Kit
Crucial M4 2,5" SSD 128 GB
Seagate ST1000DM003 1 TB
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Cooler Master HAF 912 Advanced
LiteOn iHES112-115
Corsair CX600M 600W
GIGABYTE Radeon HD 7870 OC GHZ Edition

That system will be under 1k bucks and will see you through everything short of GPU monster games on maximum settings. Games like Bf3, Crysis 3, Farcry 3 will run very good at high settings still.

You obviously don't need to take those exact components. Depending on how much the stuff you can get costs you can exchange parts, possibly even get a better GPU like the GTX 660Ti or even HD 7950 instead if you get lucky with a couple deals for some parts (the site where I did a short budget sweep isn't the cheapest one so you got some breathing room!). The parts I listed make for a good comparision for what features and price class you should look with your budget.

Feel free to post here or PM me is you have more questions.
