Well, duh. It's useless and about ten grades of infuriating. I mean buying a console a few years after launch is one thing but they made it so that the only smart pick is PS4. Which sucks because the PS3 had the most game issues. First the Start Screen monstrosity and now the XBOX One's litany of shortcomings (insipid name). It's like Microsoft wants to fail hard.

Just found out about it. It was one of the worst presentations ever. They pretty much ****slapped hardcore gamers and chose the casual gamer route. Presentation highlights:

Only irrational fanboys will choose XBOX ONE after this... Even the name is senseless.

Honsetly, I will not impose any final judgments until E3 comes. If the X1 still fails to impress, then hello Sony.

I'm afraid that I have to agree. The presentation was simply that underwhelming that I had to start blogging earlier than I'd planned, just to complain about it.

Unfortunately, the masses are probably going to eat it up. The local radio talk show in Seattle was going on and on this morning about how great the new Xbox sounds. They were obviously not gamers, but they probably represent the general populace who may be interested in buying it.

If I can't keep playing Bioware's past games like Mass Effect, Dragon Age or past Elder Scrolls games or Fallout 3/New Vegas then I won't bother. I'm sticking with my Xbox 360 and I'll see what PS4 is coming out with. I don't care about keeping up with fantasy football leagues and I barely use Xbox live as it is heck I keep two accounts, one that has xbox live and one that doesn't I don't even pay for xbox live gold I just download DLC here and there I don't think I've ever used it to play games online

I'm waiting to see what its exclusives look like. Personally, I enjoyed the presentation very much, even if nothing shown can warrant a purchase on its own. Aside from Halo 5 and that new Roman fps, if Microsoft can push out a few more interesting new IPs, they'll have my money.

The backwards compatibility was something I was skeptical about, especially given PS3's compatibility issues and the PS4's announced lack of compatibility. It's a definite pain in the ass, but very much expected.

Huh, you'd think this was the official XBox One forum instead of the BSN ...

Always Online, whether 24/7 or 1/7 is the ultimate deal breaker. Not to mention mandatory install of games with a fee for pre-owned games if you want to share with a friend or family member. Game purchases being tied to separate gamertags is a pretty stupid idea so I could NEVER by an Xbox One. They make playing games such an unnecessary chore that I won't even take their exclusive games into account when deciding my purchase of a next gen console.

the mandatory installing of games doesn't bother me since I install all my games to the hard drive anyways. Doesn't the PS3 require the same thing before games run?

But, what's not to love about the xbox cable box!? It can play TV and watch you while you're sleeping!

Hush, slaves is such a harsh word. We prefer to call them peasants. The term implies servitude, yet gives the illision of a sustained, independent self that keeps the pleb at peace with the powers that be.

Indeed it does. Which I've always thought was pretty stupid. Still, outside of that there's no issue with how I choose to play, acquire, or share my game.

As someone who missed the PS4 presentation, what exactly did it focus on? I ask, because alot of critics make mention of the fact that the Xbox One is ignoring its gaming aspects, so I'm assuming in this regard the PS4 was much better, at least until E3 when everyone lays their cards on the table.

It was. Even the new social aspects of the PS4 centered around what it could do for gaming which I thought was good. The presentation gave the impression that the PS4 is commited to game developers and gamers first and everything else second. I've ceased considering Xbox a video game brand, I'm sure Microsoft has done the same. That's Microsoft's perogative. I don't need video game consoles trying to be everything to everyone though.

If the Xbox One requires internet for single player games (from the bad news I have heard) then it's game over for me. Thats a deal breaker for me.

It's like Microsoft distilled everything that is invasive and unsettling about modern trends in technology into one loathsome block of plastic.

It's facepalm worthy. It's demented in it's approach. How didn't they realise that to work as a TV, the X1 needs, a TV. What the hell were they smoking when they came up with that concept?.... and where can I get some!
