Haha and people were saying Microsoft's tail couldn't bend that way. Guess that much heat will make anything malleable.

Good, maybe now it won't be a miserable failure.

Also the high price is still a massive issue, there is no reason for the higher price when PS4 has higher specs.

Whether you like it or not, Kinect is the price difference.  If you add the move controller/camera to the PS4, that another $60 or so.  Still slightly cheaper, but (more or less) equal tech gives equal price.

Except the Kinect is, arguably, a much more powerful device.

Now, to be absolutely clear - I think the Kinect is the devil and I want nothing to do with it.  It, alone, is enough for me to not want an XBox 180.

But, costwise, they aren't that different once you add the "optional peripheral" to the other machine to get "equal capabilities."

The PS4 is still $100 cheaper, has better specs and kinect 2.0 is still mandatory on the XB1.

I hope Angry Joe makes a video just of him sitting there and shaking his head, or saying something snarky about actually being a computer programmer.

This is something I can support now. No longer a complete joke of a box. This is good for the biz, as quality competition is always needed.

Everyone keeps talking about the $100 difference but it's not an issue for every buyer. I don't want to just switch over the PS4 and crappy PSN *just* bc XB1 sucks. I'd rather just switch completely to PC gaming if I have to (since I already game on PC anyway).

What has me most giddy about this...
is how all those gaming journalists, tech journalists, and Xbox defenders who were talking about how Sony would do the same DRM stuff (and they didn't) and that this would be the wave of the immediate future so that MS would be positioned to dominate while Sony would have to play catch-up (clearly isn't the near future, even, when MS backpedaling like this)...

will get this reversal by the Xbox 180 SHOVED IN THEIR FACES!

Ah, but the exclusives and the whole HDMI-Out stuff is a genuine bonus now for some people.

Yep that's the only good I see from this, plus me getting the X1 after a massive price

But imo, the damage has already been done

Some things still don't seem right...

Don Mattrick wrote...

An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.

So, if you have absolutely no internet access anyway, would you be able to set up the system anyway? I forgot how this goes, or if this is a basis for all of this-gen and next-gen consoles, and since I have very good internet, I really didn't care much.

He also didn't mention the issue with the Kinect and privacy issues. Since this "We Are Watching You" Act of 2013 may be passed, what then? Do I need the connect for "no reason", even if I turn off all its features, don't use it, or am ensured by Microsoft that they are not spying on me?

The PS4 is also still cheaper than the Xbox One. Its games and specs seem to outshine the Xbox One.

I also have this gut feeling that Microsoft is still going to screw people with the Xbox One. They could just be saying this to calm us down. They could change their policies at any time [again], like they said they could.

Also...

Don Mattrick wrote...

These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray.

So, my disc will not install itself into the system, and take up space?

Either way, I'm still getting a PS4. Microsoft insulted its fans and I am more inclined to go with Sony, who impressed me pretty well and more than Microsoft.

I'm assuming he means every game will require a one-time online activation, same as Steam.

But they're removing the regional restrictions, aren't they?

The Xbox 180 is actually a decent package now, too bad I'm still biased and would snag a PS4.

Except youtube has been undergoing some updates or something for the past few days. It's hard to get vids to play, and Angry Joe tweeted earlier that is was taking hours just to upload one video. I've had to curb my youtube use due to frustration.

Microsoft also announced today a loosening of the Xbox One's region restrictions. "You could buy a console in any country and use it any country," Whitten said. "You can use any disc in that console."

Wow, I'm extremely surprised; I didn't expect Microsoft to go back on any of that.

Not that it's going to stop me from getting the PS4 over the Xbone, though.
