Fact is, Sony was gonna do the same thing MS did before gamers reacted the way they did.

It was just a matter of who did it first. MS fired first, they missed. Sony timed their shot, and scored.

Sony would've missed otherwise.

Meaning the argument that Sony's thinking of gamers needs to be put to rest- they are exactly like MS, only they waited.

Makes me feel better, since I've been saying that people might as well pick one and just go with it since they're basically the same thing.

I don't know if I agree.  I find the actual implementation of something bad to be on a different scale worse than the consideriation of doing it.

Thats if you consider motion control+voice recognition "bad".

I don't. Thats a matter of perception.

Kinect 2.0/Move 2.0 being good or bad is an opinion/preference of thought.

Hence why I think Microsoft did good by bundling Kinect with every X1. I enjoy it now, so I imagine I'll enjoy it again next gen.

Others who may or may not have tried Kinect/Move may disagree. Thats perfectly understandable and acceptable(though others on both sides would try to argue otherwise).

Kind of like.... Microsoft reversing some decisions. Not medal deserving, but better than full steam ahead on bad ideas.

Wouldn't opening up the system like that just turn the console into a cheap PC?

Couldn't you just buy a cheap PC if that's what you want?

Isn't that better that the current nonsensical crap that Sony and M$ pull on their customers? Think of it, it's cheap, you get acess to modding which also means you'd have the benefits of modding such as not paying for stupid gimmicks, restored cut content and a community of programmers, 3d modelers, artitsts, etc. bringing adiitional content. Patches would be available faster than they would be when whatever company takes god knows what amount of time to get their patches through all the bureaucracy.

Nonetheless, this will never happen, the way M$ treats indie developers is a perfect example of why they'll never do it.

I already have a PC, I think that's the reason why I said that. Instead of bringing the beneifts of the PC to consoles, M$ wanted to bring the downsides.

I have an issue with this bolded part, not everyone wants a Kinect or anything to do with at all. So why should Microsoft bundle it with exery single Xbox One(80) and force on people who doesn't like it

Wouldn't mods take up space?

500GB isn't enough? I've got 1TB and haven't even used up half of it. There are more benefits than drawbacks if you ask me.

Because thats their call. If you don't want it, don't get it. Simple as that.

Its like if you saw a...chocolate crepe with sugar on top.

Perhaps you don't want sugar on top. But thats what it comes with.

If you don't want it, don't get it.

There's a perfectly acceptable AND cheaper chocolate crepe at the place down the street.

Sugar costs extra but its on the side, AND the chocolate comes from Germany.

The worry people have behind both consoles using 500GB of space is that blu-ray will take up that space quicker than regular DVDs would.

Then again, I see the 500GB as an obvious business tactic-

Release so much now, so when you improve it later it looks REALLY good as an improvement.

Won't take many years before we see terabyte having hard drives on consoles.

I personally wouldn't buy it for my children since it won't operate without the Kinect plugged in.

Bundling it with the console and requiring it to be used are two different things.  It's the latter part that I find most offensive.

Agreed. It is their choice and my choice is to NOT buy it.

Also, as far as Kinect/Move-detractors go, how many have actually tried them?

I'm sure some have. I've tried Kinect, not Move, but I imagine they work similarly.

If someone's tried it and not been a fan, thats cool.

If someone hasn't tried it and isn't a fan, thats also cool- BUT, their opinion is going to be held to a lesser degree of worth than someone who's actually...tasted the food, before leaving an opinion on it.

Kinect sold well as hell(hah, I like that, "well as hell"), so MS is trying to integrate it even more so into their next gen.

Personally?

I think Sony messed up by NOT integrating Move more heavily into the PS4. Now the color thing on the PS4 controller is kinda just...there. Its cool, but its just...there.

I'm sure it has other uses(besides being pretty), but its a bit of a meaningless feature to me now.

Nothing against Sony of course(I loved my PS1 and PS2(LEGENDARY CONSOLE), I'm sure I would've loved the PS3 if I didn't get a 360), but hey-

Perception.

PS4 has a user replaceable hard drive, and One has USB external storage. Shouldn't be a problem there.

Well, that's another example of M$ and Sony restricting things to gouge their customers. If they'd allow modding, they'd probably think of that but they don't and they know that if they make it that size, people will eventually need to buy a bigger one.

For either. Props to both on that regard- increasing space/having more space will be a non-issue.

Not gonna lie- I want mods on consoles HARDCORE.

Imagine how well the PR would go for Sony or Microsoft in comparison to the other if one allowed modding and the other didn't(to the extent PC's do).

Dear lord.

THAT console war would be a one-sided massacre.

I'm pretty sure everyone wants to use mods on consoles, where just waiting for the day it happens

From a business perspective, it seems silly to alienate a good chunk of your consumer base. It would be much better to leave it a choice like the original Kinect, or at least offer a different model of the X1 that is Kinect-less. Go to the xboxone official forums and read the rage still simmering over the required Kinect, and that is from the Microsoft faithful, not Sony fans. I believe you are mistaken if you think just a few people object to the Kinect.

Every gamer everywhere I imagine would like mods for their games.

I played Skyrim on 360. Legendary game on a wondrous console, BUT there are some incredible mods that fans have crafted on PCs that I dream of having access to.

If I was allowed to download some, that would be an instant purchase.

Remember- I have no loyalty.

Freaking Nintendo on the Wii-U could allow it and I'd be there instantly, even though I have no interest in the majority of their games.

If one allows modding, I'm sure the other/s would follow. I imagine Microsoft would go for the insta score first were it to happen. Considering the drive for PConsoles, I wouldn't rule it out.

24 million bought/have Kinect this gen. Out of something like 76 million or whatever, I think.

No way to get exact numbers. Anywhoozle,

Thats a hell of a good percentage for a periph.

I imagine the number of people who approve of Kinect will increase, depending on the amount who purchase the X1, which I'm sure will be over 24 million.

Obviously not everyone will approve of it, but then again, I don't think anyone absolutely loves every little thing about a platform they choose for their gaming desires.

That always made me laugh. The Xbox one, the "one" entertainment box... which requires a cable box.. and a kinect, and additional hard drives. So it's actually the one, two, three.... however many little boxes needed for the thing to work.

I understand wanting to guarantee the Kinect being available to game makers--even though I don't want one and don't want to pay extra for it.  It's the requirement to have it connected that is a deal breaker for me.

I don't know.

Microsoft COULD jump on the "we allow mods" train first, but Sony's supporting indie devs hella more than MS is.

Sony? Props. MS? Fail, come on guys, really?

So its anyone's game as far as mods go, in my opinion.

A cable box and additional HDD's aren't needed for the console to work.

Simply a Kinect 2.0, which has settings to turn off the features that people have problems with.

It IS odd that its required even if you shut the whole thing off while still connected, with MS's reasoning that it'll turn on for Kinect appropriate titles and such.

But I get the idea of giving it to everyone.

When hell freezes over. Mods, allows for user created content, if you look at Skyrim it's actually very extensive in nature. So it ends up eating into MSFT's profit margin, also I seriously doubt the likes of EA who will be the arbiter of any deals over mods on their software will accept it. They haven't so far.
