This is what I don't get about people-

If you've made your choice of one console over the other, or one platform over the other in general, why not spend your time talking about how good yours is/will be in a place just for that instead of spending time looking for an argument in the place where people who disagree with you will be?

Thats just negativity waiting to happen.

Indeed. I don't go over to PS3/PS4 topics/forums to talk about how uninterested I am in the PlayStation and how Sony doesn't have a single console exclusive that has caught my interest.

Neither do I, though the PS4 and its games do in fact interest me. I'd rather discussions about platform be positive and cheerful regardless of what platform someone's choosing for themselves.

The needless arguing is on par with coffee vs tea or chocolate vs vanilla. I mean seriously, as if luxuries are this important.

So...you were going for the quantity argument, and when that didn't work out switched to quality>quantity?

What?

tell me one gamer that cares about kinect

And now Kinect?

Okay, 24 million people+ care about Kinect.

i said gamers,not families.Most gamers are lazy,why would they want to dance in front of their TV's?

Lol such a troll

I'm just going to leave this here... Microsoft Studios contains 29 studios worldwide, 23 for game development (343 Industries, Rare, Lionhead, Turn 10, Twisted Pixel, and Black Tusk which comprises multiple teams working on multiple titles concurrently) and 6 for entertainment technology advancement and publishing. In pure studio count, Microsoft is the largest internal development group for a console manufacturer

hmm..

quality>quantity.Most of the M$ studios produce games for the kinect...

i also noticed how you copy/pasted from Wikipedia

Yes i did copy.from.wikipedia. it is a good.source.for.general imformation amd where i was at work i.decided that would be the most efficient course of action. Sorry for all the dots. I'm on my phone while i take the train home

I'm actually extremely uninterested in the proposed line-ups for both systems, honestly.

And ecstatically excited for many PC exclusives coming down the pipe.

So there's that.

^ I just read about that on Game Informer's website. Here's a link to the article, for anyone who's interested. I found this take on the news interesting:

It's also known that Mattrick was champion of Kinect on the business side. With him possibly leaving, we're left to wonder if Microsoft is about to make one final reversal on mandatory Kinect (and thereby narrow the price gap with PlayStation 4).

I won't get my hopes up, but it would be awesome if they made a later model of the X1 that didn't require Kinect.

Must take a number of maids to clean that. No thanks, I prefer nothing over 4,000 sq. feet, with something just around 3,000 being perfect with no maids required. ;)

Hopefully xbox and Mr. Mattrick will both be better off with this parting of ways. Hope springs eternal.

Speaking of different XO models: I bet a lot of people wouldn't mind a model that was made to be backwards compatible, physically. They'd have somewhat of an edge over PS4 even if the Gaikai service is up in running since physical media won't require people to re-buy games they may already have on 360.

I somehow doubt they will do that anytime soon. I do somehow expect an Xbox model that allows for backwards compatibility and has no Kinect, but that'll probably appear on the market in a few years. You can't expect Microsoft to do the smart thing considering the disatrous reveal.

The Xbone could've been popular amongst nongamers by having it compete w/ the Apple TV and other multimedia devices, but they made the mistake of attempting to market it to gamers.

That could make a lot of people happy, but I don't know if they would actually do it after some of the comments they made about backwards compatibility. Personally, it doesn't effect me because I keep all of my game systems.

So, we should trust Microsoft with that Kinect camera and microphone, like we do with Skype?

• Microsoft helped the NSA to circumvent its encryption to address concerns that the agency would be unable to intercept web chats on the new Outlook.com portal;
• The agency already had pre-encryption stage access to email on Outlook.com, including Hotmail;
• The company worked with the FBI this year to allow the NSA easier access via Prism to its cloud storage service SkyDrive, which now has more than 250 million users worldwide;
• Microsoft also worked with the FBI's Data Intercept Unit to "understand" potential issues with a feature in Outlook.com that allows users to create email aliases;• In July last year, nine months after Microsoft bought Skype, the NSA boasted that a new capability had tripled the amount of Skype video calls being collected through Prism;
• Material collected through Prism is routinely shared with the FBI and CIA, with one NSA document describing the program as a "team sport".

Not that it makes it right, but I'd bet my left ovary that pretty much all tech related companies with US dealings are A.) cooperating (willingly or not) or B.) unknowingly compromised.

Hey, break out the kinect and do interpretive dancing in the buff, or show an extreme close up of the great crack in the moon. Gotta have fun with it. They're watching.

Google and especially Yahoo are raising quite the stink over this, however, with Yahoo laying down the gauntlet and demanding (going to court) that the government release the FISA rulings so it can be shown that they HAD TO comply even though they fought to not.

When you are told by the government that not only you have to do what they tell you, but if you TALK ABOUT IT that it is TREASON, well, you can see why most of these companies kept quiet.

Microsoft, on the other hand, redesigned stuff to make the government's spying EASIER.  That's not just acquiescence, that's eager participation.  It's a different level entirely.

I understand how the US gov works---this crap has been a thing before PRISM existed. The US has been a totalitarian regime since 1776. Again, not that it makes it right, but was microsoft financially compensated? Just curious.

Who knows, but I'm betting they were and probably all the others too, to keep their mouths shut. This just tells me that they're a bunch of liars, they said they would "respect" our privacy and it seems they've been invading it for years. How coincidental that they tried to make it easier for the NSA to spy on you and then they come out with a required camera for the xbox. I don't know if that has anything to do with Kinect but it seems suspicious to me.

Okay, look, I'm a history major and just as ready as anyone interested in the truth of things to point out the USA's flaws...
... and, right now, those are quite large ...
... but "totalitarian regime?"  I think you are either grossly exaggerating past the point of farce, or you don't understand what the word "totalitarian" means.

Some of the tech companies ARE fighting to get the truth of what happened out, now that Snowden brought it all to light.  I personally wouldn't be surprised if some higher ups at those companies weren't partly responsible for "planting" Snowden in his job to get the truth out.

They were told, by the government, ruled on as "legal" by secret courts, that they HAD to comply.  To not comply would be breaking the law and they couldn't even publicly talk about it without being accused of treason (looked at how hard the Obama administration has cracked down on whistleblowers, and how insane they are after Snowden) and I bet they were told, by their lawyers, that they couldn't even try to fight it in the courts because "TERRORISM!"

I am NOT one to defend corporations.  Not at all.  But there is NO money in this, and only PR nightmares.

Why Microsoft agreed so eagerly, and is currently DEFENDING those decisions, is beyond me.

No exaggeration needed.  Totalitarian entities seek to control the public and private lives of the people they lord over.  I'm sure your familiar with the USA's treatment of Native Americans, the enslavement of people from Africa, the treatment of women (Roe V Wade was the high point for women's rights...now right-wing religious governmental groups are forcing all women to comply with a singular religious belief system---in other words, taking away piece by piece a woman's right to bodily autonomy--I ain't no Christian, and I resent being forced to comply with someone else's religious beliefs.) the FORCED sterilization of human beings because of the Eugenics Movement, the Tuskegee medical experiments............etc.... now mass surveillance of every. single. person. on.  US.  soil.  There's other stuff I left out, but since you're a history major I'm sure you can find out.  Keep dreaming if you don't think the US gov owns everyone in the US.  Look at how fast they shut down options for Snowden.  And if you think I'm full of crap, you're being a good patriot.  Just like they want you to be.
