So on top of everything else you have to use a hdtv to play? What if one wanted to to play on a HD computer monitor? I've never seen a company vehemently push people away like this. I'll be sad if the new star wars games are xbox exclusives, but i'll definitely be rolling with the ps4 this generation and also buying a ps3 for good measure. Microsoft is too mad with power.

My Xbox 360 is still hooked up to a SDTV in the computer room I'm not buying another hd television just to play a system

Xbox One just doesn't seem to stick. Xbox 360 was a hard name to top.

Actually people thought that name was wack when it came out too. Give it some time, the name will stick.

Mhm. Or X1 will, possibly.

If you want to play on your computer monitor, why not use a PC?  Just curious.

I haven't paid attention to the 8th generation stuff much but I can guess it's going to put more emphasis on "entertainment system" rather than "game console" with things like TV and Kinect 2.0.

Of course, there is the new Call of Duty. Yay?

To be fair the 360 wasn't the 360th console :P

I just find the name silly when there's the original xbox (and that's what I usually called xbox one).

PS4's reveal, which was great (watch it), there were some trailers, but live demos of Watch Dogs, Killzone: Shadow Fall and brief gameplay of Drive Club.

Well, I already new I wanted to play Beyond: Two Souls badly but I think Watch Dogs just sealed the deal for me. Damn that game looks like tons of fun!

Is that next gen? Beyond: Two Souls?

Not sure tbh.

No, it's a PS3 exclusive, coming out in a few months or so.

I guess that's why I assumed it was PS4. Watch Dogs releases November 19 so PS4 has to be released before then or on that day. With B2S (hehe) not yet released I assumed it would be next gen.

The first one wasn't exclusive to the Xbox, I doubt a sequel will be.

I thought it was a cool name. The original Xbox 360 start up with the X planting on the sphere. I dare anyone to say that wasn't cool.

What? WHAT?! Man, now I'm seriously considering getting a new console. I'm not even joking, I've been wating forever for that game.

Of course it won't, I just put it out there because some people have been waiting a long time to hear about it.

Lmao, get a load of this guy. EA Exec: Xbox One and PS4 Are "A Generation Ahead" Of PC

To be fair, that is a pretty terrible paraphrase of his actual quote. What he says is actually correct:

"Both the Xbox One and
PlayStation 4 have adopted electronics and an integrated systems-on-a
-chip (soc) architecture that unleashes magnitudes more compute and
graphics power than the current generation of consoles," he wrote.
"These architectures are a generation ahead of the highest end PC on the
market
and their unique design of the hardware, the underlying
operating system and the live service layer create one of the most
compelling platforms to reimagine game mechanics."

He's saying that the architecture of the nextgen consoles is beyond the highest end PC today, which would be correct. But there is no way that Xbone or PS4 is more powerful than an i7 decked out with SLI'd Titans. Hell, most more modest GPUs and processors still outperform on a raw performance perspective.

Xbone.

It's name is Xbone.

Indeed. Xbone fits so nicely with the Call of Duty focus:

I can see the confusion. I'm not one for adding in number additions when talking about previous iterations most of the time. Like when people refer to Mass Effect as "ME1". I know it's a convience thing but when I'm talking about the first Mass Effect or first Xbox I'll only type or say Mass Effect and Xbox.

It's going to be tough for whoever takes the stage at E3.

They need all the Werther's Originals in the world for the sugar high they'll need to get through it should people get vocal, but isn't E3 closed off to the public?

They probably aren't worried, they're in there with fellow gaming professionals.

Gaming professionals who will be tweeting Titanic references from their smartphones through the entire conference.

Once again, I'd advised everyone to wait

Nothing they show at E3 will change my mind at this point. Those 15 exclusives could be the 15 greatest games in gaming history and I still won't touch an x1 with a 10 foot pole. The check in every 24 hours requirement is a deal breaker for me. If you lose your internet for more than 24 hours for any reason, you lose access to your entire games library. Further, the whole Azure cloud service is just icing on the fail cake, not everyone has a stable enough internet connection to make real time cloud proccessing feasable, yet I'm willing to bet most if not all of Microsoft Studio's games will make using it mandatory.

Meh, I wasn't too crazy about the first.

Yay Killer Instinct is more like it.

Question, is the new Kinect mandatory to playing the Xbox One? And if one doesn't want to have it activated or say the Kinect breaks, what happens to the system itself?

Oh, if it is needed, why would it be viable for wanting to play a game that has no need for the Kinect function?

Yeah see I see ME to mean the series as a whole. (Same with most things that have a series. I see just the title and my automatic mindset is it's talking about the entire series). Weird I know. (Either that or the most recent).

Xbone is perfect though. I can't mix that up . :D

Yes it is. If it breaks, you probably can't play.
