I haven't paid attention to the 8th generation stuff much but I can guess it's going to put more emphasis on "entertainment system" rather than "game console" with things like TV and Kinect 2.0.

Of course, there is the new Call of Duty. Yay?

If not Yay Call of Duty, how about Yay Mirror's Edge 2?

So I take it Mirror;s Edge is a good game and I should try it?

YES.

So on top of everything else you have to use a hdtv to play? What if one wanted to to play on a HD computer monitor? I've never seen a company vehemently push people away like this. I'll be sad if the new star wars games are xbox exclusives, but i'll definitely be rolling with the ps4 this generation and also buying a ps3 for good measure. Microsoft is too mad with power.

If you want to play on your computer monitor, why not use a PC?  Just curious.

I like using the controller too much, and not too many pc games i'd be interested in are designed to be used with a controller without 3rd party software like xpadder.

The first one wasn't exclusive to the Xbox, I doubt a sequel will be.

Remember what Nintendo did with Bayonetta 2 Image IPB

Oh yeah, hah.

There are controllers that are PC-compatible. I know my Razer Onza Tournament Edition 360 controllers are.

Mirror's Edge 2 will be amazing on PS4. Hopefully DRMboxes' weak hardware won't hold ps4 back.

You know whats really going to be funny about the whole name thing? All the disappointed little kids come Christmas morning. Because when all those clueless parents and grandparents go shuffling into stores to buy the, "new xbox" for little Billy they're going to look at the Xbox One, and the Xbox 360 and assume that the 360 is the new version.

I don't think employees are gonna let that happen, considering the money that'll roll in.

The specs look to be identical for all practical intents and purposes.

It's not the controller that the issue; it's the game not being designed for use with a controller that's the problem. :(

All Microsoft needs to do:

Announce WoW as an X1 game

Announce that they will make a remastered baldur's gate along with a sequel

Announce that CoD; G will be the best COD game ever. Dragon and dinosaur killstreaks

Announce sequels for the forgotten, yet somewhat popular game franchises.

BAM, they just covered like 70% of the gamer population.

Question, is the new Kinect mandatory to playing the Xbox One? And if one doesn't want to have it activated or say the Kinect breaks, what happens to the system itself?

Oh, if it is needed, why would it be viable for wanting to play a game that has no need for the Kinect function?

Yeah, I suppose this answers that question. Yet another deduction for ecks bawks.

As long as you plug that controller into a PC, it'll do what you want. As long as you're comfortable with a 360 controller being used for your PC.

*looks for link*

OH MY GOD I CAN'T FIND IT AT THE RAZER STORE, THEY REPLACED IT WITH A SABER CONTROLLER FOR THE X1

Well it'll do the same job, but the controller's expensive right now at $80

Lemme find an Amazon link or something for the Onza Tournament Edition

*looks*

Don't bother, now those are being sold on Amazon for $100

Dear Jesus, when I bought them they were $60, what the hell happened

Goddamn it life

Sorry LA, I tried.

Oh dear, I thought you were serious at first.

Granted, a Turok-style Call of Duty sounds awesome.

@LPPrince

MSstore is selling it for 50 dollars. It wasn't in vain:wizard:

I don't think employees are gonna let that happen, considering the money that'll roll in.

Durring the peak shopping season employees will be too swamped to stop the clueless from making mistakes, and as someone who worked a customer service desk at a major department store for several years I can tell you with confidence many people are too stubborn(or stupid) to ask for help when they're unsure about something and just make assumptions.

The PS4 has a faster CPU, significantly faster ram, and a more powerful GPU. The differences in CPU and GPU may not seem like much, but taken together along with the difference in ram speed, will result in a tangible difference in performance.
Which is why I'm so confident that Microsoft will force Azure Cloud service into every game they can, to use cloud processing to make up the difference between the two consoles AND shove always online DRM down peoples throats while being able to claim they don't have an always online DRM scheme.

Based on the all but confirmed specs of the PS4 and Xbone, the PS4 has a performance advantage on nearly all fronts.

I think the only advantage the Xbone has is that it runs a custom version of Windows which will basically secure the console as the lead platform for most multiplatform games. The downside to this is the fact that the OS reserves 3 GB of RAM....

Every single cross-platform game that comes out on both console and PC has controller support, and likewise almost every PC exclusive action game. The only games that don't support controllers are strategy games, MMOs, and the very rare action game, most of which work better with keyboard and mouse anyway.

Guild Wars 2 is the only game for which I've ever had to use third-party software in order to gain controller support.

Sorry, I'm not trying to jump down your throat. I just see people use that excuse all the time when you generally have a lot more options for input methods with PC than you would on console. There are definitely reasons to prefer consoles - couch coop, price and ease of use - but control methods are pretty well covered on PC, even if you do end up using third-party software.

Besides, your computer monitor probably has an HDMI input, right? So you're good anyway.
