Based on the all but confirmed specs of the PS4 and Xbone, the PS4 has a performance advantage on nearly all fronts.

I think the only advantage the Xbone has is that it runs a custom version of Windows which will basically secure the console as the lead platform for most multiplatform games. The downside to this is the fact that the OS reserves 3 GB of RAM....

Looks like the PS4 developers can dedicate more RAM to games then. 7 to 5.

Off-topic but would said controller be able to play games like Fable TLC?

As long as you plug that controller into a PC, it'll do what you want. As long as you're comfortable with a 360 controller being used for your PC.

*looks for link*

OH MY GOD I CAN'T FIND IT AT THE RAZER STORE, THEY REPLACED IT WITH A SABER CONTROLLER FOR THE X1

Well it'll do the same job, but the controller's expensive right now at $80

Lemme find an Amazon link or something for the Onza Tournament Edition

*looks*

Don't bother, now those are being sold on Amazon for $100

Dear Jesus, when I bought them they were $60, what the hell happened

Goddamn it life

Sorry LA, I tried.

I got a wired 360 controller for 20 dollars, and downloaded a free driver for it. It won't work on Deus Ex or Morrowind (because Steam is a dick) but hey I can still play Megaman Legends and Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow like a boss

The lead development platform is which ever is the easiest to develop for and/or the one with the biggest installed user base. Current generation, thats the 360 on both fronts, next generation, it'll be the PS4 on both fronts.

No it's not. I've been a console gamer my whole life until I switched to the master race maybe 2 years ago.  Took me a week or two to get used to it.

Wait, how is the PS4 gonna be easier to develop for? The way WoodysGamertag put it its-

X1= Software->Operating System->Hardware
PS4= Software->Translation Layer->Operating System->Hardware

The fact that X1 runs Windows is still an advantage, as he put it. Hell lemme linky link-

Not quite. Developers may choose to make the Xbone lead platform out of the convenience of its superior API. However, Sony is actually taking intiatives to avoid porting problems so I doubt that multiplatform games will have the same performance gap as the PS3 and Xbox 360 did (especially around the time of their releases).

And as someone who hasn't owned a Sony console since the ever glorious PS2, props to Sony for that.

Well, the only real way we can tell is through the postmortems devs make on GDC about the production cycle for next gen games and what kinda hoops they had to jump.

That comparison is meaningless as how easy or hard a console is to develop for all comes down to how good the development tools are for the systems and Sony is taking a major initiative to make the PS4 as easy to develop for as is possible.

And I can tell you right now, I don't care what anyone claims, the fact is the lead development platform is a popularity constest. Developers are not going to risk pissing off their largest consumer group by handing them an inferior product.

No argument when it comes to shooters as far as precision goes, but I've always been more comfortable with a controller in my hands.

^ Saw a comment on a GI article that went something like this

"Xbox open internet explorer"
"Xbox go to Amazon"
"Xbox buy me a PS4"
"Xbox sell yourself on ebay"
"Xbox shutdown"

That made me giggle.

Fighting and racing games are the only games I can think of where a controller is better suited, and I honestly have never played those types of games with a keyboard+mouse.

Aye to racing games, my Razer Onza controllers allow you to change the resistance on the thumbsticks so that they can be looser for shooters or tighter for racing games.

That's my mindset as well. Counter-Strike with a keyboard and mouse was tops when I was able to play it on PC back in the day (and I'm sure it's the same with these new shooters) but I'm okay with the 14 input controller.

And Razer goes out of their way to make their controllers feel even more comfortable. They also add extra re-mappable buttons to their controllers so you can tailor what buttons do what for even more comfort and ease.

Good stuff.
