Also gamestop's stock is dropping sicne that announcement good grief.

Well, with the MVC stories is it any wonder why their stock is dropping?

It's dropping like a rock though. Think it's down more than 10% at this point.

Of course.  Smart investors, seeing that this could be the wave of the future for console games, would be wise to drop stock in Gamestop, Gamefly, etc., because their business model is dead.

Also Redbox better stop renting out games, as game rental is gone too if this becomes the norm.  Most video rental stores are dead, however, so at worst this is just a nail in the nearly already sealed coffin.

EB Games (gone and absorbed by Gamestop), Gamestop and the like don't make their money on NEW stuff.  They exist on USED stuff.

On its own it would kill the rental market, but if Xbox was wise wouldn't they make a system where companies like redbox and gamefly would be able to rent out temporary access codes for games? I find it hard to believe the rental industry is bad for their bottom line at the end of the day.

Oh, yay!! My first post in a year and it's an opinion thread. To you dear OP I say: explain.
Why do you feel it sucks? There is no point in starting a disscusion about something if you don't give your POV.

There's a whole 27 pages here for you to learn why it sucks there friendo.

You know, this kind of all makes sense. The line between entertainment and games has been blurring for some time now. Games are more and more the equivelant of interactive Hollywood productions. It brings a lot more people into the fold.

they stopped being games after 2008

every call of duty "game" is become progressively more rail shooter, more stupid "action buttton scenes"

More RPGS are forgoing gameplay for the sake of their story

Games are becoming interactive films.

Hyperbole isn't always effective when it's an obvious lie. This time being really obvious. With no truth to it.

I'm trying to be level-headed about this, but it just keeps getting harder and harder. This has probably been posted, but here it is again.

For now, its just a patent.

What if someone killed me, and dragged my corpse to my Xbox One and started playing MY games?! The outrage!

AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

"Television viewing tends to be a passive experience for a viewer, without many opportunities for the viewer to engage or have interactive experiences with the presented content," the application states. "To increase interactive viewing and encourage a user to watch one or more particular items of video content, awards and achievements may be tied to those items of video content."

WTF? Why shouldn't television viewing be a passive experience? That's TV's appeal! You're not supposed to interact with the TV, you're supposed to interact with the people who may be watching it with you. Microsoft says it wants to change my relationship with my TV, but I like that relationship the way it is.

No, you're wrong. You should be watched by your TV, it will speak with you, reward you with bonuses and punish you for you misbehaving! Xbox-One-TV loves and takes care of all!

That sounds like a fun "Weekend at Bernies" game.

Most likely, you're fine, but you have to connect to the internet before you can actually use it again.
