You ever consider that sometimes sources prefer to not be named, for whatever reason? Or that they're talking to an actual source at Microsoft and not just linking an article somebody else wrote?
Yeah, Deep Throat had no credibility when trying to report on Watergate, the WaPo couldn't verify who he was. If you're going to adop that position, then you better get used to not accepting 60% of what's reported by journalists.

That's not my problem. If you are going to quotes sources, you should name them. Otherwise, you can literally pull info like that right outta your ass and say "my sources told me so." These statements about not having a used game fee also contradict statements made by Phil Harrison (Corporate VP of Microsoft) and Major Nelson (Director of Progamming/Xbox Live). They both work for Microsoft.TheBlackBaron wrote...

So, who should I believe? Some editor who works for Polygon (a site that was originally funded by Microsoft) or the people who actually work for Microsoft that have hands-on experience with the machine and the policies set in place before the reveal?

I play in my room also. I guess I'm weird too
Oh and that's why I wouldn't want that creepy Kinect thing in my room. It would watch me undress...

What they did was lock down the second hand market from a free market economy, to their own little revenue source.
It's 24 hours, the statements by MS execs after the reveal confirmed it. They're all over the net.
The game is going to require a connection upon instillation, obviously. Installation is mandatory, but that's not a huge point, yet 500GB of space isn't going to go far, and the HD isn't removable.
The Hardware lags behind the PS4's be a significant margin, it's been broken down by the techy guys at Euro gamer very well. The TV move requires more system memory used in the X1 at all times, as it's always running in the background, the same with the Kinect, The PS4 doesn't and we know it.
The use of the TV option on the X1 actually requires a TV, which is why it's so stupid. It also requires a cable box. Which are largely non existent in the EU, and not everyone in America has them either. It doesn't include digital satellite and terrestrial set ups.
The TV network is US based solely. So rendered redundant anywhere else. Oh yeah and the Kinect can't be disconnected and is always on, unless one plus the plug out, as it's used to turn the xbox on as due to the voice sensor.
Other than that it just includes a lot of other redundant rubbish, but these are the main points.

Once everybody's "source" can be verified I'll have no problem with this. But as it stands right now, it's still not confirmed.TheBlackBaron wrote...

So right now we're in "I choose to believe what I want to believe" territory.
That's fine, just don't expect me to take you seriously.

The ps4 is getting more popular everyday and Sony don't even have to do or say anything. They can't get betere marketing then this!
I know, all they have to do is not screw up spectacularly and they've got this console generation in the bag, at least until the Steambox hits.

All Sony has to say now is that the ps4 won't provide any extra fee's with used games or whatver and they have won.

Giant Enemy Crabs, billy. It'll come down to the games, as always.

Maybe they cut a partnership with Comcast
Hmm, let's see, stream all sorts of free sh*t online and use Netflicks...or cable TV. Tough choice.

I believe what has already been confirmed by Phil Harrison and Major Nelson. Microsoft has yet to correct the statements that were made if they were infact wrong. All we have right now is an unnamed source who's claiming something different and you seem very eager to believe this without any confirmation.TheBlackBaron wrote...

So, no. It's not about what I'm choosing to believe. I'm sticking with the facts and official statements that have been made by Microsoft and I will continue to do so.

All they have to do is say: we can use Used games with no fee, we don't need internet connection to play, and more focused on gaming
Then they pretty much solidified their dominance

Buddy, when they're both more recent and being reported by multiple outlets, I feel pretty confident about believing it. Where there's smoke, there's fire. You, on the other hand, seem very eager to believe otherwise, which is particularly odd considering literally hours after the presentation Microsoft was already issuing statements saying that the used game fee was just "one thing we've considered".

The whole deal with fees for used games, no backwards compatibility and requirement for being always online --Supposedly even when you're beneath the sheets, and the fact the console feels essentially like an overgrown tv-remote, is certainly making the PS4 more appealling by comparison, as we draw closer to E3.
