Well, the 360 released with the Red Ring thing because they were rushing to put out the console.

Sony doesn't need to rush I imagine, but if by some chance they do have technical issues right now, lets hope for everyone's sake they fix it pre-release.

Being someone who had a PS1 and PS2 and may end up with a PS4, it'd suck if it came out that way. The PS2 was the only console I ever got when they came out, and it paid off royally over the years. Awesome console.

Hopefully every console that comes out later this year does so without technical hiccups.

Honestly, I hope no matter what console we don't have to deal with the same crap we already did (rrod and ylod). So even if I get a PS4 someday, it'll be not on release.

I'm not gonna make the same mistake twice.

You suffered through both? If so, jeeesus. My condolences.

I didn't get an Xbox 360 until the Elite came out. That lasted me a long time, and then it red ringed, so I bought a new one. I had that for a few months until the 360S was announced, so I figured I'd buy that for myself and give my few month old at the time Elite to my stepbrother. My 360S is still running, and the Elite I gave him is still running.

I'd say I made it out okay.

Eww. I don't think I would've bought that many if they kept screwing up. I bought three, one screwed up, one I gave away, the other is still mine and performing exceptionally.

Ouchies to those that had to deal with that mess.

I had some issues with the first PS3 I bought (probably a year or so after purchasing). The BR drive stopped working so I sent it out. After a while it stopped again so I sent it out again. After a while it stopped working again so I opened it up and would mess with it to get it to work. Eventually it was beyond saving so I bought a new PS3 (BR drives were very expensive at the time). Haven't had a problem with it and it's been many years.

My stepbrother's first PS3 was having issues as well, he straight up opened it up God knows how many times to try and fix it.

Its good now, I think. Or maybe he bought a new one down the line and I just can't remember when. Regardless, he's had no issues for a looong time.

Which should tell the early adopters that its smarter to purchase a console a little later in its cycle instead of immediately, but then again, I give props to the early adopters because they're the ones that experience the bad things that need to be corrected, or talk up whatever greatness it is they're experiencing.

And for all I know I may be an early adopter of a new console for the second time in my life, starting later this year. *shrugs*

Its just been SOOO LOOONG

Well, if you need a break from the gaming, you could always work on those television watching achiements:

You cannot make this stuff up.

This quote taken from that:

"In addition to this, Microsoft also envisaged a way of incorporating Kinect into this madness, rewarding viewers for certain actions like holding up a specific product in front of the sensor during adverts."

So would I also get an achievement for flashing the Kinect during a commercial?

Haha :lol:

I think now is the time for eveyone to let their opinions be known. I left this "Dear John" on Major Nelson's blog about the used games.

~~~~~~
I bought the original xbox at release (actually for my husband) and that's when I fell in love with gaming. I raised my kids with the xbox for our gaming playtime, and later the 360. We played Halo, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings games among many others, and had wonderful LAN parties with friends (remember those?). We came to know and trust the xbox brand for all our gaming needs. I've been a Gold member for 6 years now, and before that my husband had an account with his gamertag on the original xbox.
Now I feel like with the choices that have been made, Microsoft and the xbox brand is saying quite clearly to my family and so many others: we don't value your needs and desires as a customer or gamer, we don't want you....GO AWAY!
What other message could they be trying to send with:
1. An integrated Kinect complete with spycam and listening device. (The Kinect should have been kept optional.)
2. Tyrannical DRM in the form of required online connectivity to function. (I'm sorry, but I've never needed the internet to play any xbox or 360 game before, and I find this a massive step backward.)
3. Trying to control and dictate how I purchase and choose to dispose of any used games. (Once I buy a game disc, it belongs to me and I can sell or give or LOAN my game to whomever I choose. Who is Microsoft to say otherwise when the music and movie industry have never attempted such an odious level of control and dictatorship? I have rights for reasonable use to any product I purchase, yet Microsoft is saying otherwise.)
These are just some of my concerns and reasons for why I have no desire to ever own the Xbox One. It has already been concerning over time that I have been forced to pay for a Gold membership when many of the features and benefits are offered for free through Playstation and Nintendo consoles. We have two 360's in our household, and I have already been annoyed numerous times that DLC I have downloaded onto my console cannot be shared by my own children on their downstairs console. Likewise, when I bought Minecraft for them on their console, it meant I cannot play it on my own machine upstairs unless I pay for it a second time. Ridiculous!!!!!
I've been on rocky ground with these gradual changes made to xbox live that clearly show that GAMERS are not the priority. A question to Microsoft: who do you think made the xbox brand great and a household name? It was us, the gamers, that's who.
This breaks my heart. I feel like I'm losing a friend or going through a break-up. I thought we were close, but I guess we've just grown too far apart. I've cancelled my Gold membership renewal. Goodbye Microsoft and Xbox. I think it was good for a while, but Sony and Nintendo clearly care more for my business as a gamer than you do, so I will take all my money to them in future.
I'd love Sony if they went back to the old days of advertising video game consoles when companies weren't afraid to tell the competition that they were better.
