Those are the only 3 games that I can recommend you right now. We'll probably get another 3D Mario game, a Mario Kart game and a new Donkey Kong game, and they're probably all going to be awesome, but I can't really say anything about those games yet. We'll have to wait 'till the E3 to learn more about those games.


But you can never go wrong with Zelda and Smash Bros, that's for sure.


And since the WiiU is backwards compatable, you could check some good Wii games too, if you haven't already. I can definitely recommend Mario Galaxy, Zelda Twilight Princess and Zelda Skyward Sword.

Also I forgot to mention Smash Bros Brawl, another worthwhile Wii title.

May I ask, how familiar are you with Nintendo and their past games? If you haven't played their classics, you'll have another reason to buy a Wii U. Nintendo's online store hosts the so-called "virtual console" which allows you to buy and play classic Nintendo games on your Wii U for a very reasonable fee.

It's a good combo, especially with regular Wii games I could play. Zelda...oh yes...here I come. I'm doing exactly this, and getting the Wii U tomorrow. I will do cartwheels if GameCube games are also backwards compatible. Eternal Darkness again for me and maybe a sequel.

Then you need to play Eternal Darkness! Maybe the biggest hidden gem of all time. It didn't sell well but often makes Top 50 All-Time lists.

You brought it on yourself by playing a TES, or rather Bethesda game on anything other than a PC.

Trust me, I made this mistake myself playing FO3, FONV and TESOblivion on PS3 before switching to the master race.

Gamecube games are not playable on the Wii-U, only the Wii games and Wii-U games (obviously) are. I'm sorry.

Nope, Nintendo switched to regular-sized dual-layer DVDs since the Wii.

The Wii could still play the tiny Gamecube disks, but the WiiU can't.

Eh, it would have been nice. Still, a bunch of Wii titles, like Zelda and others I'm sure, I could get. Maybe Watch Dogs, too. That would keep me busy, along with wrapping up Skyrim (300 hours) and New Vegas on my 360.

I wonder if weekly Amazon wishlist is pre-Wednesday.

Wii-U uses a modified Blu-Ray drive with 25 gig capacity discs. Won't play movies, however.

Gamecube titles are supposed to be available on the Virtual Console at some point.

I tried it out a few times. It was very good at finding things that were similar in nature but totally off-topic.
