Reports that they are 'utterly shocked' at the enormous wave of catastrophic backlash also is indicative of how out of touch with this plane of reality they are. I am happy they have billions invested, because it means they are going to feel this severely. And harshly.

They're attempting to diversify their operations. It almost looks like they're trying to reach non-gamers, b/c only non-gamers would care about multimedia aspect of the BetamaXBox and not the anemic gaming aspects of it.

Not relevant? He brought up a Bethesda game. There is but one true way to play a Bethesda game, and that is on PC.

I don't see how Microsoft can redeem the situation they're in. The games that they reveal will most likely be available on the PS4 as well. The only exclusive that Microsoft has is the Halo series and that's gotten a it stale.
The real way they can redeem themselves would be to get rid of all the stupid paywalls for used games and the creepy spycam.

What they have done is bundle the 2nd hand reactivation fee in with the second hand purchase price when you pick the game up from somewhere like gamestop. In effect they've tried to corner the market, hence the 24 hour internet so they can transfer the license.
So you're paying the activation fee at the point of purchase, not at install, that's the only change. MS is also going to be dictating the cost of purchase, considering it's they who determine what the activation fee is set at.
Exactly. Are you people really fooled that easily?

Eh. I don't think they have actually said this yet. They have said gamers can still resell and trade games... but that doesn't mean that there won't be a license fee attached to it. Major Nelson's statements were incredibly vague about how the process would work.OdanUrr wrote...

I am honestly hoping that sometime during the next few months someone at Microsoft will realize the once a day check in is stupid as is the used game fee and subsequently change it.
There is no used game fee anymore, they already changed it. lol
Its been reported a few times already, though with all the miscommunication, who knows anymore
To be honest, nobody knows a damn thing for certain and that can't be good.
For instance, he wouldn't be lying if you could go into GameStop and sell your game disc... but then whoever bought said disc would have to also buy a license. You could, essentially, just be trading/selling an install disc while still needing the license to play the game and all of Major Nelson's nebulous statements could be true.
I don't doubt that MS is scrambling at the unanticipated negative whiplash of the reveal this week (and the fact that they didn't expect said whiplash shows GROSS misunderstanding of how even the most basic of gamer thoughts work), but I doubt they can just change how their technology works overnight. Manufacturing on their consoles has to begin here within the next month or so to meet a 2013 release, so radical changes to how hardware or software work may not even be feasible.

No full install required
No used game license/fee
No internet required
No always-on/required camera/mic thingy.
Then there's the fact that the price will be further bloated because every system comes with a kinect.
The chances of all that happening? There is no chance.

Btw, DRM is all over the place in the PC gaming world. That is countered, however, by the upsides of PC gaming.

If PC gamers want a reference as to our anger, imagine if every single game in existence for PC required GFWL, every single last one, then had a required GFWL camera that recorded everything in your room at all times no matter what. Yeah we have to deal with a lot of the DRM nonsense, everyone knows it has nothing to do with piracy, its all about companies wanting people to pay more. But anyways onw of the good things about PCs is that there's a lot of companies that make everything, there's no one company that owns it all as a result they cannot enforce as much control. I'm sure if they could restrict modding indefinitely they would, just like it happens with Sony and Microsoft, and once again it has nothing to do with "cheating" in MP games or any of that nonsense, they simply don't want people making content for free that they could sell themselves and that has been going on for a long time. It is not surprising that they want to exert more control.
The only thing that can be done, is to avoid buying the Xbone, I'm sure lots of people won't buy it but there's a bunch of hapless morons that will unfortunately and that's bad for every gamer, no matter what you use, whether irs PC, PS4 or xbox, everyone gets screwed if the Xbone succeeds.
