This..

While I think it's complete garbage and really hope it does horribly because the last thing I want is for consoles to have such asinine restrictions everyone does not feel the same.

Yeah, "I don't like Xbox One" or "Xbox One makes me unhappy" sounds a hell of a lot better than the title it has now.

It's not that simple if you ask me, a lot of people are frustrated because for whatever reason MS took some radical turns, they came out with the 360 which was very much made for gaming purposes, and now all of the sudden they had a complete change of heart. Believe me when I say would want to prefer to buy from Microsoft over Sony any day but they're not giving people any choice with everything they're doing.  I don't like Sony, I never have and but if I had to buy a console, as much as I don't want to say it they seem like the best option.

I'm not holding my breath for these "exclusives", I'm sure most wont' be that special, otherwise why weren't they announced yesterday? Although, E3 is a huge event with lots of attention from lots of people, MS isn't the only company that will showcase their stuff which means they won't have everyone's attention, yesterday they did, and they should've used that opportunity to show off those exclusives. Somehow, "we're waiting till E3" does not sound very convincing to me. Maybe they should have just made two entirely different consoles, I bet this could have been avoided if they had done it that way and I'm not sure I believe that "it's not feasible thing", Microsoft makes a lot of other things aside from consoles and they are one of the biggest companies in the world, it is probably not that simple but I still think that if they wanted the best of both worlds, they should've done things that way.

EDIT: nevermind about the used games, since that seems to be a rumor. Still not buying it though.

All we have are potential scenarios at this point, we'll have to see how things transpire after the reaction.

But he is right about Steam having that kind of reaction at first too, and look at it now.

"All of a sudden"? "Complete change of heart"? No, more like a natural evolution of the last couple years. If you've been paying attention to how 360 has changed you saw this coming.

To be fair Steam has fairly major sales does it not? Maybe it's the console games I'm buying but it takes ages for them to get into the 25 - 30 price range.

Not to mention they're selling to different audiences (not as in people not interested in the same thing but different outlooks on gaming) for the most part. Alot of the console gamers I know are put the game in, sit down, play. That half hour for an install BS tends to aggrave them. (Friend was complaining about MGS4 install times I hope they improved on that given it's no longer even optional).

Frankly I expect to sit for a install for a PC game. Not so much for a console game.

And while yeah maybe it should change but to me at that point...what's the point in even bothering with a console instead of a PC? One of the best parts of console was it was simplistic and convenient. Everyone doesn't have their consoles hooked up to their internet (or have internet where you simply can't hook up consoles like a college dorm). They can hook up their PCs to the internet easily enough. Same doesn't go for consoles. To me at that point its a cheap pc knockoff that's non upgradeable and I have far less ability to do things with (say mods). Might as well go all the way. (IMO anyway)

All this stuff about used game and others defending this kind of practice by saying ''It's Digital .. It's does not age like a physical thing!!''. Or worse '' The industry is struggling''... Seriously .. ? are you that naive ?

Firstly it's does age. Movie age and video game age. Secondly when I buy something.. Be it a video game or a car.. It's mine.. I own it. It's my possession. I can wipe my ass with it if I please. it's none of your business. I can sell it and break it. I don't have the copy right, but you're not stopping me to do what the hell I want with this copy and this is exactly what publisher and corporation are trying to do.

The day you have to log in to identify your car on the internet is close. Or worse your house.. What about it ?
hey we want to know when you're pooping. We need to make sure that you're the real owner of the pooping bowl and we take statistic of your pooping habit and sell the information.

They're basicly owning you. Do you want to be owned by them ? Do you want to be regulated by big ass greedy corporation with everything you buy in the future ? Because the future is digital and technology and you really want them to control the thing you purchase and even you ?

Seriously I don't. Imight be over dramatic, but not so far from the truth. They want to know all the time ''How you play game''. It's started with CD key .. Now you need to be all the time connected.

Seriously leave me alone. I want my frigging privacy.

Exactly, thank you voice of reason on internetstubes.

As a PC gamer, I don't see much in Xbox One that I'm not already used to.  No used games, haven't had that for years.  Online checks, had that for years.  BFD.

Internet is goin through its predictable reaction stage.  Microsoft focused on the multimedia side of the machine at the show, even though they told everyone weeks in advance that they were going to save the games for E3, so everyone is complaining at the lack of game focus.  Nobody listens apparently.

My question is, do people actually want the thing to only play games or something?  Is there really a problem with it doing other thigns?  You have to admit, it does make TV better, if your into that.  Do people not want it to play movies, netflix, etc?  Cause they sure use those features a lot for somethign they act like they don't want.  We're in the post-console era now.  Wii-U really will probably be the last true dedicated gaming console.  Is that what people really want?  Doesn't seem like it...

I can actually see how amazing the Xb1 is for multimedia.  Gamers can tunnel vision all they want and ignore its qualities to riff on it being less video game focused then they want, and if playing games is really all they care about, then Xb1 obviously isn't for them.  But I think its conservative minded to expect consoles today to be like they were 10 years ago, dedicated gaming machines.  They just arent anymore, welcome to the future where yoru phone is a ****in camera.  And to claim that people who do care about the multimedia stuff are just the "dumb casuals" is ubsurd.  I care about the multimedia and I've bought over 200 games on steam in the last 2 years since I BUILT MY OWN PC.  So don't generalize.  (them, not you person I quoted)

There is a problem because it doesn't actually do those other things better than the other specialised devices that are already in existence, which do the job better, and I already own them.

I don't admit it makes TV better, it was a stupid move. A system which is supposed to replace TV, but requires an actual TV to work >.< demented in every sense of the concept. The digital TV I'm using can connect to the net, I can watch films on demand quicker than on xbox, and I have the various menus I can program....why would I need to do any of this via an xbox? The Digital HDTVs do a better job, and I already have it, I don't need to pay extra for that service!

Rubbish. The PS4 is centred around games and the incoming steambox from Valve is essentially an miniturised modular PC to play games on, post console, please. the X1 simple decided to jump off in a completely different direction to ensure it's own redundancy.

Multimedia my arse. I have skype on my iPhone, what possible need do I have for it on xbox, I also have it on my PC. My PC is for work and high end games, watching and downloading films music etc. My TV lets me watch TV at the drop of a hat and browse films on demand. My console should focus on games and enhance that experience. The Wii was a novelty using games like Mario and the touch sensor system.

What microsoft did was declare themselves an entertainment system ignoring the fact that all their competitors already do what they're trying to do and do it better. They ensured their own irrelevency by giving up the middle ground to Sony, and lets not even start with the online, ID and system locking issues, xbox live costs etc.

So you can wake up, and without opening your eyes or even crawling out of bed, just say "tv, turn on, play 'day in the life' by the beatles."  And it plays?  No remote, no menu navigating, just pure instant voice commands?

You can watch something on tv and just say "science channel" and it switches to the science channel?  No finding the remote, no clicky clicky?

I've been looking forward to being able to do **** like that for a while.  Technically you already can but its more trouble then its worth with all the accessories you'd have to buy seperately and all the software you'd have to have running on your computer, its just more hassle then its worth.  Been waiting for a device that makes it all simple and hassle free.  Thats the point of X1.

I sat there with my stepbrother for the MGS4 install times and load times. Took FOREVER. I figured it was because of blu-ray. Seeing as both X1 and PS4 use blu-ray, IF that was the issue, I hope its been worked on.

Yeah that was ridculous. That's exactly what I don't want to happen when I'm trying to play a console game. Just...no. Plug in and play please.

Its got a lot of data, not really an issue of speed.  Would be about the same if they put it on half a dozen dvds.

At least now the installs will actually function like they do on PC, where you no longer need the disk after installation.  Bite the bullet on it doing its thing for a half hour, then you never have to swap disks again.  Its always on your console ready to play with the click of a button.  Or in X1's case, saying "play (name)."  I'll take lasting convenience over instant convenience.

They could definitely do that but Microsoft probably think it's more efficient to throw all the eggs in a single basket instead of coming out with two machines for specific purposes.

Stop the presses! And here's the problem. You'd have a harder time empathizing with the console gamer on this issue. What XO is doing is not foreign to you, but it is to people like me. Console gamers are used to specific advantages as the console environment has been and still is different from Steam.

My point was that console gamers will get used to the changes just as PC gamers already did.  Its really not that big of a deal, trust me.

Also, I really don't consider used games an advantage.  You save negligible ammounts of money at a significant cost of the developer while the middle man reaps all the reward.

Think about it like this, if there are no used games, developers will be more prone to putting their games on sale.  Just look at steam for proof.

As for online checks, I guarantee the overwhelming majority of people complaining about it wouldn't actually be affected by it.  How many of us honestly go more then a day without any internet connection on any regular basis?   Its being so over-blown.  I kind of get it, people don't want always online, I don't, so anything even remotely close to it gets mobbed to death before it can grow.  Internet is acting like a pack of wild animals.  But holy **** just chill internet, chill.  Xbox One is not always online only.   You need minimal internet, yes, but bandwidth limits and black outs for the most part wont be an issue for standard offline use.  The only people this system will really affect are people with no internet.  Sorry, tough luck.   Product is not ment for you if thats the case.  Buy a PS4.  Everyone else, stop complaining like it affects you.  It doesn't, hipsters.

Ugh another reason to go lol nope to 1 for me.

Not stalking just watching you always. Damn Microsoft is gonna make skynet.

*and before the usual smartass remarks my phone doesn't have a camera, my laptop's camera is disabled via hardware settings and I uninstalled the drivers and put electrotape over that thing, my desktop has no camera and the closest thing to a tablet I have is a nook color and that sucker doesn't have a camera either.

Also I guess Xbox 1 isn't for those in the military or college dorms either. Sucks to be them apparently. =] Not for me either but I already have a PC so :D  Ah well like I said really hoping this doesn't catch on. One PC is enough.
