Most of my DS games are imports from the USA and Japan, and they work perfectly fine on my European DS.

You sure? Some parts of the internets seem to be claiming that the 3DS at least is region locked.

Perhaps the 3DS games are region locked, but the system itself isn't. My Japanese Jump Ultimate Stars works just as well on my 3DS as it does on my regular DS.

I've not yet imported any 3DS games, so I don't know about that. I wouldn't be surprised if they indeed are region-locked. Some regular DS games, like Pokemon Black & White are also region-locked.

That's highly unlikely. PS4 isn't running 3 operating systems at the same time like Xbox. 1 GB should be more than enough, 2 GB max.

The 2 cores being reserved does seem likely though.

Does your PC require more than a single core to run it's background tasks? No, it doesn't, depending on the background task. 

The share option is likely reserved to an additional core, yet it's background running, it only kicks in when the player kicks the record and share feaure on, which will no doubt have some impact on the game's speed and graphics if it's a particularly intensive game. Where a core will no doubt be assigned to process the info. This would likely be the second core use. Is it reserved? Maybe, but I think it would be given prefrence and another thread on info shunted to a different core rather than reserving it to that particular core, it's inefficient..

Yet each thread of info is not reserved to a single core, forced to forever exist on that core in perpetuity. The OS, being the key exception, given as soon as it's turned on a core is assigned to process that thread.

I am just reporting info man, that is what was said, also the 2 cores reservation has to do with the jaguar architecture and how partitioning works there, they explain that on a tech site.

Also whether a feature kicks in when you push a button or not they still need to have the dedicated resources

uncharted has ****** poor **** gameplay

It's a movie, parkour simulator, and really poorly developped cover shooter. 

Some of you are confusing storytelling with gameplay. Storytelling has nothing to do with gameplay.

Jaguar is not 'using' Bobcat architecture. Jaguar is the successor to Bobcat. It's a new architecture that is *substantially* improved from Bobcat. Tests have shown about 15% better performance at the same clockspeed and it's capable of reaching higher clockspeeds.

Sony has already stated that there's another secondary processor with hardware video encoding/decoding that handles all the sharing and OS stuff. And audio processing. Few PCs have dedicated audio DSPs, but that's because the amount of processing needed to do audio is so small it doesn't even make a dent in the CPU load. The idea that an entire core would be dedicated to it is laughable.

They're right to an extent with some people(the fanboys) but I think they underestimate the amount of informed gamers out there that are contemplating purchasing other consoles besides their own.

Sony already has been crystal clear on their stance on used games, internet connection, and the like. It's highly likely they are waiting for E3 to reaffirm it all, in the spotlight, as they are revealing their console physically, with scores of new games, right after Microsoft. For now, they are steering clear, enjoying the beating the new Xbox is taking.

They have been crystal clear in saying any DRM is coming from publishers themselves.

If they backtrack on any of that, backlash towards them will get nasty, too, and this will be the last console generation. There would be a crash and reset of the market.

If they backtrack on any of that, I'm sure there will still be loads of people purchasing the consoles. I don't believe it'll be the end, just a major hit. Will it push more players to explore PC gaming, likely. Wii-U? Maybe.

But I still think people will buy the next gen consoles, and live with the negatives they come with, much like PC gamers live with the negatives of their platform of choice, for the positives outweigh them.

If anything, MS and Sony would have to be prepared for years of complaining. Rightfully so if they don't listen to their consumers.

Ah, yes. The Halo TV series instead of a new Halo game in the works. I don't know how Microsoft thought that this was a good idea. Perhaps they thought that having Steven Spielberg on the reveal would somehow help bolster sales of the BetamaXbox. I'm sure Microsoft was very shocked when they realized that people buy video game consoles to play video games, not watch TV.
