Have they said whether you'd be able to unassociate games from your account? I know that EA allows this for some games on the PC. You're allowed to have the game registered to x many PCs, and you can always just unregister the game for any of the PCs to open that licence up again.
I don't know about that, don't think its gonna happen. I think thats how its gonna work when you sell your game though- it'll unregister digitally and then be open to be registered by the buyer.

Allan, just answer this:
You DO know that you don't have to be online to play Steam games once they are installed, right?
This is old, and it wasn't pointed at me, but I WILL point out that you cannot truly stay offline with Steam.
Steam deliberately corrupts your login information to force you to go online.
Which, as an aside, Origin has never done<3.

I was without any internet access for a month, and in that month I played through Alan Wake and fiddled with a few other games. No internet access at all.
What I think you MIGHT be referring to is when people HAVE internet access, have Steam '"turned off" but Steam is still running in the background checking for Steam app updates.
All you have to do for that is one of the following:
1 - disconnect your internet if you really want to run offline; if your computer is connected to the internet, you are online, whether you run Steam or no
2 - adjust your Firewall to block Steam
3 - since you HAVE an internet connection, so you aren't really in a position to not have internet access, let Steam update, then turn it back offline
When the vast majority of people are complaining that they cannot play their games without being online, they are complaining because they either have slow/poor/expensive internet connections (dial-up, Time Warner, using a cell phone broadband account) OR are often places with NO connection.
What you are referring to is a very, very narrow problem. If you are referring to this - http://forums.steamp...d.php?t=3073091

I don't have 'net access on my desktop at all. Thus, there's no way for it to be online.
The link you show brings up a very interesting question: how can Steam tell there is a new client update if it's offline?
Again, my desktop is not online at all. In fact, usually the only times I physically connect it to the internet is when Steam flubs up on me.
And another interesting thing, if I take the ClientRegistry.blob from another computer, that IS online, and replace the one on my desktop...Steam works fine.

I don't know what to tell you about the problems you are having, but all you need to do for Steam games that don't have online components (or other online DRM required by GFWL or Ubisoft or whomever) is
1 - have the game installed and fully updated
2 - set the game to play in offline mode
3 - disconnect your computer from the internet - go into a bunker that gets no signals if you want - and you can play that game offline until your computer stops working or you die (well, you might have to keep altering your clock...)

My point was more tangental and more about Steam. My point was that Steam DOES corrupt your information (oddly enough, it has seemed like a monthly thing for me, though last time it was like three or four days after I connected). Wasn't really about the game failing to work.

I think what you are referring to is the unfortunate nature of almost all programs assuming you are online all the time, that you want them online all the time, and that you want them updating all the time.
On that note, I'll move over to your side and say Steam is being stupid.

Love one of the comments:
“Your old games will run on your old system.” Thanks for the update, Microsoft!

Stop.
As an aside, after I cancelled my Gold renewal subscription and posted my disgust on the xbox forums and major Nelson's blog, someone tried to hack into my Live account.

Why did someone try to hack your Live account? An overzealous HexBawx fanboy pissed that you refuse to submit to the all mighty BetmaXBox and spycam Kinect?

What difference does that make? I know that people were afraid to install Origin on their PCs out of fear that it would scan their PCs for porn and pirated games, but who keeps that on their consoles?Filament wrote...

I have no proof, but that's kinda what I thought.
I can't wait for E3, just so we can get some CONFIRMED (hopefully) information about both the X1 and PS4.

Bah! Proof is for the courts and science. We're starting a conspiracy theory.
Well, hopefully the Kinect spycam will be optional, no used game pay wall, no having to log on at all to play an SP game, and no requirement to install games first. As it is—and has been said before—the BetamaXBox is pretty much a gimpled PC.

You know, considering EA's precaurious relations with gamers, they might wanna stay at arms length from MS.

Banks that rob people and get away with shady economic practices, multinational corps screwing over consumers while US states allow companies to discriminate against their employees. EA sometimes shelves out half-finished/mediocre games, and while it's not excusable, it's not right to claim they're the worst over the former IMO.
