EA may not be perfect but the notion that they're "the worst company in the world" is actually false.

Banks that rob people and get away with shady economic practices, multinational corps screwing over consumers while US states allow companies to discriminate against their employees. EA sometimes shelves out half-finished/mediocre games, and while it's not excusable, it's not right to claim they're the worst over the former IMO.

EA got voted twice because the poll is open through out the whole world and other people voted because it would more likely affect them over companies like BOA

Most of the companies listed there are pretty much companies that provide luxury products and services. You didn't see companies like BP or Monsanto on there.

EA one the award twice in a row b/c, unlike Skank of America which won the award the year before EA won the award for the first time, they actually bothered responding to the award and that pretty much put the spotlight on EA for the next year. People probably thought that EA would change their business practices and start shelling out better games if they voted for them again.

There were a lot of good reasons behind them getting the poo award and them being the absolute worst company was not among them. For example, they perhaps were percieved as one of the most likely companies to change their ways. Their are many other reasons which I'm sure you can think of yourself.;)

You never know, this supposed partnership between EA and MS could involve Origin on the Xbone.

What difference does that make? I know that people were afraid to install Origin on their PCs out of fear that it would scan their PCs for porn and pirated games, but who keeps that on their consoles?

I think it could be a good idea. A captive audience may be just what EA needs to get its underwhelming-so-far digital download service off the ground. Notwithstanding how people might react...

edit: and making the Xbox a platform for digital downloads as much as physical media would lessen the impact of more restrictive resell rights, as we're all already used to not being able to resell digital media.

EA is far from the worst company in the world....Complaining about microtransactions looks ridiculous when you compare it to actual unethical practices that corporations get away with.

And before anyone says it, yes I'm an EA agent. But that's besides the point.

So I've found one thing about the box that may be a positive, though it could go horribly wrong.

"...and introducing a new Reputation system that will (hopefully) mitigate the bigotry and offensive language spewed by players in online gaming sessions.

“There is a new system in what we call Live 3.0 internally that totally remaps the matchmaking, and there is a reputational element to it as well," Phil Harrison, one of Microsoft's corporate vice president for games, told Kotaku. “We want the best gaming citizens of Xbox Live to be mapped together and joined together and I think that’s a really positive movement for the community.”"

Based on all the speculation, does this mean the PS4...will inherit all the swearers who were on 360?

I tend to curse a bit when gaming. What gamer doesn't? I don't think a bit of cursing here and there is the problem.

Now that I like. Problem is, people will rep you negatively for nothing at all. You can just be a really good player and a poor sport can negatively rep you just because they don't like you.

I bought the PC Dead Space 2 Collector's Edition to discover that there was a sizeable amount of content locked behind doors I couldn't open because I hadn't also bought pre-launch DLC that wasn't available on the PC,  and the box didn't tell me about that.

I bought Mass Effect 3 based on the very public statements of "Multiplayer is not required to get the best ending",  to discover that it was required to get the best ending.

I feel pretty robbed.  I'm guessing the SimCity fans do as well,  spending $60 for a game they couldn't play,  discovering that "We'll give you a refund" wasn't true if you bought it online,  and then finding out that the "Servers do work your PC isn't powerful enough to do" wasn't remotely true either.

Those other companies,  OTOH,  have never ripped me off.

Yup.  Alternatively,  it's likely going to be quite easy to buy reputation,  or buy negative reputation for someone else,  or organize a campaign to de-rep someone out of spite.  A highschool kid for instance could organize a bunch of other kids to de-rep someone.

If silver accounts are still free,  this can easily go wrong rapidly.

Or abusive players will start using different words and phrases to insult each other w/. The sale of thesauruses will soar.

"You, my good sir, are quite terrible when it comes to executing the simplest of objectives in this game. This may be to you abysmal upbringing. Please leave the lobby forthwith, sir."
