I can see it doesn't take very much to impress you. I'll avoid stating all the problems with the greed machine that is Origin as this isn't the thread for it. I'm sure a quick "Origin sucks" search will prove satisfactory.

Big big hint, friend: I was joking, it was a troll thread.

Really, you shouldn't take your luxury so seriously. It's just a game/computer. None of us need this. Why is it SRS BIZNEZZ?

You know what? Luxury is very important to first worlders, but I guess you have more important things like finding food and potable water to not care about the suferring we go through for our damn luxury. Check your privilege, m'kay?

I'm spending hard earned money on my "luxury" so don't tell me not to take it seriously.

So, has it risen above the status of "complete and utter" garbage yet?

Not to mention that it is quite literally serious business in the sense that gaming is a multi-billion dollar industry.

You don't really need it, so it's not that serious in the grand scheme of things.

I'm not going to tip over anything because of it, but it's a product we save up for and buy with hard earned money. I take the DRM and Used game fees seriously because gaming is a form of stress relief for me and I couldn't buy all those games new
Plus, you don't really need a car, it's a luxury so you don't have to walk or bike (which also is not essential) everywhere
Game Systems are no where near as important as cars but if Blind says it's important to them and to be taken seriously, it's important to them. Unlike complaining and getting self righteous about a multiplayer match or five minutes of a game.
Also
in the 'grand scheme of things'
none of us are important or serious

Yeah Sajuro, you make some pretty valid points. I'm not going to lie, video games are my favorite hobby. They provide a great way to kill some time during the day and they are really the only things that we have 100% control over. However, getting stressed out over the new consoles isn't really something that is necessary. There are plenty of consoles out there that provide games without DRM. We don't necessarily need to buy a new console, especially when we don't agree with the new business practices being implemented. Games are a huge part of our lives to be sure, but I don't feel that individual consoles are. It's okay to simply not buy a console. Getting upset over the decisions is something that really only hurts the individual getting upset. When there is control over a situation, a person should do what makes them happy. Choosing your reaction to a luxary company's decision is something that people have control over. Being stressed is not being happy. Ergo, we should choose not to be stressed out. That's all I'm really trying to get at.

I overheard a conversation at GameStop where a customer asked how much the next gen consoles would cost, and when preorders could be made. I heard the store employee say that nothing is known yet, but a head hancho at GameStop heard that Xbox One will cost $450 and PS4 a shocking $350 (which I personally question).

Pure rumor, but I swear he said that. Preorders are able to be made the day after E3 announces the official price, so I should get an email so I can book in there when they open and get my name on the list. I'm assuming the same could be done for those wanting to buy the Xbone.

Gamestop employees are indeed known for professionalism and not rumor mongering
If you wanted to check, you could always ask them yourself

If the PS4 is only $350, it's almost a guarantee I'll be getting one.

Getting the discussion back on track (apologies if the news is old):

Sony keen on indies, Microsoft “focused elsewhere”, says Schafer

Yoshida: PS4 Online DRM Will Be Up To Publishers (so kinda like the X1)

Good thing for the indies. Yeah, I bet the NFL takes a lot of focus.

I'm not surprised really, now they've got a equal suck point there. I wonder who's gonna force it though (thehe~).

DRM on the Xbox One is having a code, having to input that code and verifying it every 24 hours via the internet connection. The Xbox One mandates that for every game, and its system in general.

PlayStation 4 doesn't do this, at all, but individual publishers might. Sony published games won't. This allows games requiring this and other anti-consumer measures to simply be avoided.

That's why I said "kinda." Microsoft is using the disc code combined with the dial-home-once-every-24-hours to combat used games. As far as we know, Sony won't be doing this, but E3 will probably confirm it either way.

Microsoft doesn't allow self-publishing for indie devs, where as Sony does. As part of their wide-sweeping damage control, they now claim indie gaming is a priority, contrary to a plethora of opinions from indie game developers.

This enables The Witness and the very, very exciting Primal Carnage: Genesis to be PS4 console indie exclusives just from the onset.

I made a thread about it, but Primal Carnage: Genesis is an episodic singleplayer, open world fps with dinosaurs. Inspirations are Amnesia: Dark Decent, Far Cry 3 and Jurassic Park. Survival elements and stealth are also facets of the game.

*note console exclusivity...PC is also a platform

With no required internet confirmed by Sony, no phone home (E.T.!!!! lol) can be utilized.

If it's up to publishers then that probably means only EA and Ubisoft would will actually invest resources into a working DRM system and even then I doubt it'll be as restrictive as the one MS will be having in place.

Combine that with the fact that the PS4 does not require an internet connection every X amount of hours/days and it's basically the easiest purchase decision I've made for gaming purposes.

Would EA do that now that the online passes are gone, as they announced? That's probably nothing for Microsoft, but means something better for Sony.

Can't wait until the PS4 comes out. The only news I could hear that would make me even more happy about it than I already am is if Konami finally puts out another Suikoden game. I'm a huge RPG nerd (which is why I've always been a Playstation owner because they have always had an excellent library of RPGs).

Not really. The system itself doesn't apply some sort of DRM from the onset.
