All this extra stuff is just white noise to me. I have skype on my PC. If I want to browse the internet whilst gaming, I'll rotate my chair and use my PC, or use my iPad. If I want to watch TV I'll stream/use catch up 90% of the time, else I'll just actually use my television.
And if there's one way to guarantee your console is subjected to intense efforts to crack/modify it, then it's to attempt to stop people from cracking/modifying it.

Not sure what happens if you get banned and the console breaks though. That might be an issue.

Are they linked to your gamertag or your console? Pick one, I'm confused.

PlayStation:
- "You're gonna have a reletionship with your TV"
- Presented by people who make movies and TV series.
- Cutting corners in gaming hardware to add Kinect.
- TV experience
- TV and Movies
- Internet Explorer (**insert paid crowd cheering here**)
- TV
- Sports
- Murica'
- Sports
- Halo TV series.
- Paying to share your own connection and stream movies from services you already paid for.
- Call of Duty
- Call of Duty DLC
- Social fluff... to share TV.
I remember back in 2001 when some people said Microsoft wasn't interested in videogames and they where only trying to move Windows to the living room, looks like they were right, it only took them 2 generations.

- Forced online activation for all games (once every 24 hours)
- Massive emphasis on TV, services and non game related focus
- Live TV services available in US only at launch, requires separate device (likely a cable box)
- No self publishing for indie devs
- No headset included
- Over emphasis on Kinect interface
- Xbox One not being backwards compatible with the 360 games or accessories.
- Microsoft's failed attempts to correct PR with contradicting FAQ's, vague responses, misinformation.
Hardware:
- DDR3 confirmed instead of GDDR5
- Potentially Only 5GB of the 8GB ram available for games
- Only HDMI for output.
- 3 OS's? At best, confusing, at worst, a nightmare.
- Kinect needed to be plugged in for Xbox One to function
- Non-replaceable Hard Drive (though not as much an issue, as external drives are supported similar to other consoles)
- Console uses a large external power brick (Conflirmed by DF/Wired)
- Console is not designed to be placed on its side
Problems with the announcement itself:
- EA games prerendered using in game assets
- COD looked less than stellar
- Quantum break reveal was confusing
Unconfirmed issues that still need clarification:
- How much is this gonna cost?
- Complex used games system that is anti consumer?
- How the hell does game borrowing work?
- Charged fee for playing used games on non linked profile?
- Console that needs to be connected to internet every 24 hrs to play games? (Phil Harrison says one thing, ms backtracked a bit later)
I've yet to find even one positive thing this console does for me. The way that everything is set up, it seems like it's actively working against me in every way possible.

Gaikai cloud is also going to be amazing for gamers. Purchased by Sony a few years ago, Gaikai's goal is to put PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS mobile games on PS4 and have them running in seconds. That's the backwards capatability outlook, too, for PS4.
Microsoft: tv, sports, Call of Duty. No used games unless you bend over and pay a fee. Must connect to the internet.
If feeling down but haven't seen PS4's reveal, watch it now. They will talk to you as a gamer, and respect your intellect by explaining their goals and what hardware they chose; and why. Watch multiple game demos. Puzzles, platformers, action, shooters and a truly unique new racing IP exclusive, even though racing isn't my thing lol.
The backlash is already catastrophic. When Sony announces a brand new next-gen exclusive Final Fantasy, and Bungie shows what their exclusive content is for Destiny on PS4, its T.K.O.

All in all, I'm a bit weirded out by the reveal and what they chose to highlight. It seems like Microsoft is trying to widen their demographic and that the XBO isn't a gaming console but a multimedia device, which is fine if that's what you're looking for, but I'm just looking for a console, since almost everything else I need/use that they're offering (TV, streaming, movies, Skype etc.) is already taken care of, so I guess that I'm just not their target demographic anymore.
But anyway, that's an interesting gamble they've taken, and only time will tell if it pays off, but it seems they've p***ed off a lot of their own existing fanbase in the process, which is unfortunate.

I don't know. If Nintendo announced solid IPs that people have been asking for ages, then Wii-U will also have beaten M$.billy the squid wrote...
No one has to criticise Sony, yet. They haven't made a facepalmingly stupid move like MS has. But, after this sh*t storm, I bet the PS4 team is not doing high fives over MS' botched antics, rather I'd think they're more apprehensive due to the ire of the internet being roused over this and all attention being on them. The expectation that they will do what MS hasn't is foremost in the collective mind of the net, and they're likely to receive similar treatment, if they haven't got themselves sorted.
E3 waiting is a cop out, they made their presentation and opened themselves up for judgement, they were found wanting. It's like trying to close the door once the horse has bolted. So they're going to have to do a hell of a job with the exclusives to convince people to overlook the mess of a console system they have created. The reveals are the point of product judgment, it's where the system operation and hardware is looked at, and MS is unfortunately inferior to the PS4, by a marked degree, due to the systems generalised attitude.
E3 is just extras, what bits of software will they have available, it doesn't change anything about the Xbox's problems. PS3's reveal was a better console, but the arrogance, and badly designed architecture of the system ensured that people moved to the 360, because it was a better alternative. The same thing happens here, in the next gen.
All Sony has to do is not screw up spectacularly and they've effectively won. Wii U is out of the running and performed poorly. MS looks to have taken a leaf out of the Wii U's book and created a generalised system, and it's getting torn a new one. Sony, has focused on games primarily and the additions enhance and revolve around that key point. The opposite is true of MS, that the issue.

I agree..(well, not with the nude part). Its so creepy with a camera on you at all times. I asked this same question to a buddy months back. I asked, "How do you know someone's not looking at you?" He said, "The light's red...it's turned off." I responded, "But, how do you really know that????" Its a scary thought indeed.
To me, the always online issue is bad; the forced Kinect that's connected to the internet is a deal breaker.

I imagine they'll both cost a few hundred dollars. Probably between $400-$500 in the US.ShepnTali wrote...
Cost is going to be a factor for some time, too. PS4 isn't going to just whizz by everyone else. It will most likely have the biggest price tag.

That seems to be the underestimation of the PC, but it's not only a gaming platform, which is what the X1 has tried to immitate, but the PC does everything the Xbox does, and more, and does it better. The issue is that consoles are able to cater to a larger audience who may find building a PC daunting, or those that don't want to fiddle with specs. That's what MS relinquished to Sony by shifting focus to entertainment with Gaming as a preripheral, while Sony maintains gaming as a focues, with other aspects to enhance it.
I think this is an important observation. I'm of the opinion that the PC has always been able to do everything a console can do, and more. Yet, consoles are the dominant gaming device (especially for "HD Gaming" i.e. not mobile apps or social games).
It seems to me that MS is really looking at shifting to much more than just a gaming platform. The thing is, even with games, people only demand a particular type of game once they have been given it. Outside of random musings for a City building simulator, fanatical demands for more don't come until after SimCity released all those years ago.
You can really see this when you look at fans demands from developers. It's always, if not a direct sequel, a game like a previous game. The irony I always find with this is that, had a sequel been made instead of that new game, would we have been happier? Imagine if BioWare decided to go with Shattered Steel 2 instead of Baldur's Gate.

And there's the problem. You can buy a GeForce GTX 680 for around the same price. For all the stuff Xbox One has plus with the PC like things, why not just get a GeForce GTX 680 or 670? It's cheaper and you have far more options. This is the massive issue with Xbox One and it's price tag.EpicBoot2daFace wrote...

I wonder if a Microsoft Thought Police team comes and takes you away if you say anything or do anything they don't like.
