The hackers are still gonna hack, and the consumer gets the shackles.

Joking aside, I can't see a future for this console. Can't wait for the public reaction at E3.

I was thinking about that, but supposedly that only involved metadata. So I guess they could use it to track when you have the xbox online, implying you're at home on your couch, which they shouldn't have a right to know anyway without authorization. And maybe your web history on the xbox which is also not right, but no different than PCs. But not recording conversations/video/etc. For now.MerinTB wrote...

But it was unveiled that microsoft was apparently one of the first companies to join that prism program... heh... hahah. Rich.

It's slimy, but those are their forums. Absolutely in their rights to do that.
Of course, that completely tips their hand as to what they think about feedback.

I'm laughing at the response to the Xbox One on the Playstation Forums right now.
Whether the PS4 does similar things or not, Microsoft just handed Sony the crown for this generation. Sony will have to try, harder than ever, to flub up bad enough for the Xbone to seem a viable competitor.

If I wanted to talk on Skype I'd use my PC. Oddly enough, I'd like to use my games console to play video games.
Hopefully E3 brings out some talk of the actual gaming part of the system.

To be fair, I had already decided not to buy an Xbox One when I heard about PRISM, this mostly just persuaded me not to buy Google Glass, and to vote third party next term.MerinTB wrote...

Microsoft just made it so that anyone who actually likes the BetamaXbox will be perceived to be a shill thanks to Microsoft's reputation management. How can you tell those that want the Xbone to those that are just shilling for a corporation?

All data picked up from the Kinect Spycam will be stored at the Utah Data Center.

Here's an article that helps explain why the Steam comparisons are ridiculous -
"But Steam Does The Same! And You Can't Trade iOS Games!
These two ridiculous counter-arguments have popped up in defence of Xbox One not allowing you to trade in or gift games, etc etc. It's not a 1-to-1 example, so it doesn't work as a counter-argument."

Dead Space on Steam: $20.00
Dead Space on X360: $14.99
Dragon Age Origins on Steam: $20.00
Dragon Age Orgins on X360: $15.00
Skyrim on S: $30
Skyrim on X360: $30
Two deals I've gotten from both: Got saints row the third off of steam for ten when it was forty (steam). Got MW2 for ten when it was thirty (X360).
When it comes to AAA titles, these two companies do not operate that differently. His argument is poor. He's basically saying they're different because Microsoft might charge more, which is what he accussed people who used the Steam argument of doing.

Prices and sales are set by a publisher. You use EA game examples, which obviously EA has split with Steam and has motive to keep prices higher there. The Mad Hanar wrote...

The point that was made is that Steam and many other digital PC retailers offer massive discounts on a fairly regular basis. Xbox does no such thing. They have a very occasional sale on few specific items. They don't hold a candle to the sales that companies like Steam, GOG, GMG, Amazon, etc. have.

I just bought the Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition on Steam for $7.50
Not only do you regularly get preorders for $10 off, there are constant, often month long sales on thousands of titles through both Steam and Amazon. There is no question that Steam and Amazon have the lower prices when you count sales.

Taken broadly, there is no way in hell console games are as cheap as PC digital distributors like GOG, Steam, Greenman gaming, Amazon, Desura, etc. There is far more competition in that space. Prices also drop faster on PC and games are generally $10 cheaper at release. Also, Steam and GOG holiday/bundle sales are insanely cheap.
