Thoughts so far folks? Not overly impressed. A lot of CGI trailers, which doesn't tell you anything. A bit of singleplayer game in BF4 (that no one is gonna play, BF is all about MP) and what looked like a red faction clone (Titanfall). It's not bad though, there seems to be some good games and Forza looked beautiful.

The best part so far is definitely the removal of the microsoft points.

Titanfall will definitely sell some Xbox One units, it looks awesome so far.

Sony response is going to be interesting to see. The Xbox One definitely focuses on western audiences only so far.

You still have no actual proof of anything. You just keep repeating "They're a business and will screw us to make money".

Yes they are a business and yes they are going to do what they can to make sure they make money off of the X1 as a whole. I have already acknowledged this.

Criticizing them for being unclear on their responses is fine. Criticizing them for doing things with the X1 that are bad and should feel bad that they have admitted to doing is fine.

What you're doing is criticizing them for doing something that they haven't said they're doing on the grounds that they might do it.

I'm not saying that it wont happen, but I am saying that there's no evidence that it will happen other than that it's possible that it could happen. That's not evidence that it's going to happen, though.

This isn't the only way to make money off of the X1.

Well there was there initial message saying that there would be a charge, but it wasn't paid by customers then itchanged to no there's no charge. It sounds like they don't know their arse from their elbow. The evidence is right there in their original statments about limitations fees and then the subsequent clarifications and general bumbling about, when the backlash kicked off.

That, combined with MS' track record of being horrifyingly monopolistic, doesn't bode well.

If it's not a consideration that one should take, then why was their original statement such a contradiction? And why did they state there were charges in the first place? That is the problem, by the intial message, they have that system in place and fully intended to put it into practice, yet misguaged the force of popular opinion against it, so back tracked gave a whichy washy answer and then hoped everyone would forget.

Yep. There were some technical malfunctions with two of their game footage vidoes and the crowd booed in response. Though they did not boo with the intention of criticizing the Xbone.

The system costs $499?!

And I thought Microsoft wanted to beat Sony. Hell, with that kind of money you can build your own gaming PC with more power and functionality than what the next consoles will offer.

You get an achievement for pre-ordering/Day One, Xbox One. I'm not making this up.

Oh that's not the best bit, if you buy it in the EU it's 499 Euros if you buy it in the UK its £429.

Hahahaha. My god who the f*ck did the exchange rate calculations for this, are they bloody insane?! They expect me to shell out £429 for that crap when I should be getting it for about £332!

Indeed, we've always had that problem with consoles in the UK. I'm not happy about it, but at the same time new smartphones are around £400-£500, I'd rather spend that on a console than a phone. Doesn't make it any better and I've still seen nothing to make me want one, but I didn't really expect it to be much cheaper either.

So the Xbox One costs more in Europe and will come with less features. Wow.

Still want to buy an Xbone?

From that link I also realise that not only is an internet connection required for the system to function, but a paid subscription to Xbox live is also required.

Maybe I missed it, but I can't see where it says you need a paid subscription. It just says a Live account, unless they are doing away with silver and I missed it, then wouldn't that suffice?

Honestly, I don't know. I was unaware there was a free live account. I don't own a 360. I've always wanted to get one but the only one priced right to me didn't even come with a hard drive. (so I guess it wasn't really priced right).

Ah, I see. Yes there are gold and silver accounts. Silver is free and doesn't have access to most of the stuff you can do on gold, I can't remember the differences. I was wondering myself how this is going to work and if you will have to pay a seperate subscription for Xbox 360 and Xbox1. Seems ridiculous, but I wouldn't put it past them.

Edit: It seems Live subscriptions carry over.

At the bottom of the page linked it says for use with Xbox one only. So, I imagine your live account can be transfered from your 360 but can only be used on one. So once you transfer it, you would have to get a seperate sub for your 360. This is just an assunption of course.

The Xbox One is absolutely horrendous. Not only because of these new idiotic restrictions but that it's a audio/visual recorder right inside you home, that constantly needs to be connected to the internet. This may not bother some ppl, I'd rather not buy it and save my privacy. <_<

Anyway I've been thinking of transferring to mainly PC, but doesnt it have all the same problems? One of the reasons I preferred consoles over PC is so I could have an option to avoid things like forced DRM, required internet connection, restricting used games, digital-only copies, etc, but now apparently all the cons of PC are now "pros" of the next gen consoles. If other platforms don't have all these "features" then great, but I'm betting sooner or later they will, it always end up that way.

So I guess my question is, what do you folks think is the best least crappiest platform to play on? Or should I just find a new hobby entirely?

399 for the PS4. Better hardware. No silly limitations. I guess MS lost a lot of customers.
