Do you see how they resort to insults rather than discussion?  This is why the BSN will always be what it is.  There is no discussion from them, just potshots.   If you get a good discussion going, the trolls come out in herds - or gaggles - or whatever a group of trolls on rampage is called.

No wonder Bioware never listens.

You actually insulted me first.

I would rather them canonize an ending than make a prequel. And spin-offs, which can be fun, aren't the meat of the franchise. I think I've made it to the last stage in the grieving process--acceptence. The writers killed off nearly any chance of a sequel. I'm really not enthused about the next game's SP.....I expect the upcoming SP to be a dud. Where do they go from here? A prothean adventure culminating in the leaving of information for the next cycle just before entering the stasis pods? A Garrus story line from his CSEC days? A reaper-threat-free galaxy with no ominous enemies*? Meh....at least there is MP.

*Maybe the rise of the Leviathans to power...predictable, but could be well done. Sheesh, better than other options.

I've said it once, I'll say it again. The way to move on is to give canonize none of the endings. Sweep the entire Red, Green, and Blue ending rug and pretend it never happened that way in the first place. Do a giant retcon and make the Crucible detonate the Citadel. Use the thing about the "controlling the reapers" and make the reapers actually a networked consciousness through the Citadel "Intelligence."

Earth is not destroyed because the Citadel relay wasn't active. The Bahak System type detonation only happens with an active relay.

Shepard was successful in this mission. It made the reapers as dumb as varren and can no longer indoctrinate. The Allied fleet in turn was able to mop up all remaining reapers over the next few years. Shepard died a hero. The End. I know... blue babies... Sorry. There are sacrifices.

There. Now you can move on. It is that simple. The only thing you have to decide is:

* do the Geth survive, and in what form? Do you want to go back to Chris L'Etoile's idea of the geth and have them all in their megastructure, while the Quarians are on Rannoch learning how to adjust to their environment? Or do you want to have the Geth as individuals living side by side with the Quarians?

* Do AIs get to be allowed?

* They already have skin, bone, and muscle weaves, so a degree of transhumanism is already existing. The Quarians use cybernetic implants as well.

I guess there's a lot of rebuilding on the home worlds and colonies and they can move the story onward. See? That wasn't so difficult, was it?

shepard auto death = I am not buying the next mass effect

simply because I do not play games to watch my avatar die at the end because...you know, that's awesome and mature.

yeah no thanks

If you set the story 100 years in the future Shepard would be dead anyway -- old age. It doesn't matter, does it? :?

I think you're just using this as an excuse to say "I'm not buying no matter what."

Why not just add whether Shepard sacrificed him/herself or died of old age to the list

As long as a sequel is MEHEM-compatible, I'll entertain the notion of maybe tying it out at some point.

Why does everyone assume MEHEM compatible=MEHEM canon?

You know, there is another way .... We could begin with a speculation. Begin with the stargazer scene.

Old man: "All that happened long ago."
Child: "Will I ever get to the stars?"
Old Man: "Someday, child. Out there, there are billions of stars, and around those stars are billions of worlds."
Child: "Tell me another story about Shepard."
Old Man: "We've finished the book of stories about Shepard. Now it's off to bed with you. When you grow up, you'll have your own journeys to the stars."

The child runs off back to the village. An Asari maiden of about 40 walks out and meets the old man.

"There you are, father. Let me help you. Mother is quite worried."
"Thank you, dear. I'm quite tired."

Is it? or isn't it? Speculation.

You were the child (human).......... 25 Years Later ........ Your story begins.

I don't think that's what he said in the least.

Bioware, presuming they make a sequel, isn't going to give one tenth of one **** about whether it's compatible to MEHEM or not... nor should they.

Didn't say they would, didn't say they should.  I just said what would make me start to consider purchasing a MEHEM sequel.

Essentially:  A point in the future which I could imagine the events of MEHEM having taken place.

Or you know they could sweep the whole ending under a rug and pretend it never happened

And going the route of a prequel and spin-off isn't a copout?

To be honest, the whole ending looked like a torch and run scenario

Not really.  Some things simply can't be fixed.
