Except Mac Walter is on record saying the galaxy is a "galactic wasteland" after ME3, thus why there could be no postgame DLC.  This is not 'speculation", this is the lead writer's own words.

This is correct. I just tried to find the right interview on Youtube so everyone could see for themselves, but the first likely looking option wanted me to open an account because it "might not be suitable for all ages". :pinched:

Not starting any accounts just for that, but you should be able to find it. It's dated slightly before ME3 release, I think.

If we are dealing with the realm of pure baseless speculations and tin hats, there is that new IP Bioware is working on now. What if people that want to work on it are afraid that they again will be assigned to team that works on same old and no longer exciting project?

"This is The End. This is it." Indeed. That's what I've been saying. They meant for this to be the End. Simple as that.

The ME universe isn't destroyed post-ending, even in the original cut. You're free to speculate on what Bioware intended to do but this statement does not confirm anything you've said.

At least my speculations have a solid foundation. But we can disagree about this. It's the ****ing ignorant "tinhat" cracks that I'm truly tired of.

It's been a lousy week. I sincerely hope I don't have to visit that subject again.

well, it kind of makes to wonder what they'll have to come up with for another VG with ' Mass Effect ' in the title.

Shep IS ME123... but the next one is not 4... so wtf is it?

edit: put it in  the wrong spot.

I think they should do a sequel. Set it forty years after ME3. Through the eyes of a young soldier, with a new world. Destroyers would see the beam in the distance, rising up and connecting to the Citadel. People who picked control would have the Reapers, now vanguards for the galaxy, doing their work as protectors. Synthesis could easily have the tech laced in everyone's skin explained away, it just became part of DNA over time. They could do a sequel and not have to dwell on the past, while still giving a glimpse of what had happened.

Wouldn't that count as a spinoff rather than a sequel?

Yes, you have more foundation than the IT. What's your secret? Flycams?

Kidding. Take it easy.

I'd doubt they'd attempt a multiplex ending based new game. That young soldier would be a shepard wanna bee? Image IPB

Dude...... you've chosen this for yourself. If you want to be the lone purveyor of Truth in a world full of people who refuse to see it, well, this is how it goes.

Yeah, but the theory is that Mac just wanted to write comcs, not games. What's stopping him?

Being assinged to work on games instead of comics could be what is stopping him.

While a canon sequel will be the easiest, it would ****** off fans of the other endings, plus it would make a potential ME4 a hard game to market to their potential audience. "Your choices didn't matter in the last three games but do not worry, this time..."

@MegaSovereign The problem with original ending was not that they were vague as they were inconsistent, in a kinda, "did that just happen", or "why did that happen". The relays exploding were very similar to the Arrival explosion that destroyed a system, is everybody dead? Why are my guys stranded? The stargazer seen, this is a humanoid people but were is this, I know its not earth?

Somebody who hasn't twigged to the notion that they were selling simulated (not actual) choice by this point is going to be disappointed by what they actually get.

So he quits Bio - assuming he's actually employed there rather than just a contractor - and keeps writing for Dark Horse.

Because they don't have good enough writers. Doing a prequel is safer.

Hardly the "lone" anything. But you people continuously playing the same kind of dumb gets to be a grind. You ought to know full well that what I'm saying about these BioWare types is not some exotic conspiracy theory of reverse vampires, yet you feel compelled to pose the same questions time and again. "What's Mac's motivation supposed to be again?" and so on. If you have any experience of the world, you know these things happen. You may disagree, but why drag out the same lame interrogation again and again? You never say why we should just assume that the BW guys are such morons that they had no idea they were finishing off their fictional setting in their attempts to be deep, maan.  Just what is at stake for you here?

Looking at the original cutscenes, I imagine Bio thought they had shown this wasn't happening. We see the Citadel Relay releasing the energy wave, beaming the next relay, and then exploding with enough force to blow the Citadel arms off, but no more than that. Then the next relay does the same thing.

In retrospect  they should have expected that some of us might have thought that the Citadel Relay exploded again, this time much bigger, but off-camera.

I keep asking that question about Mac because you never actually answer it.

As for what's at stake for me; nothing much. I just think your theory is nonsense. But FWIW, I'm starting to find it kind of boring too.

What's at stake for you?

You think they wouldn't keep contracting the books to him? Maybe not.

I answer that all the time: he doesn't want to take on the job of continuing the story of the freaking Universe. He's probably overwhelmed. It's hard, writing original stuff, especially multilinear RPG stuff. Yet he still likes being employed. And he can churn out those comic books. And Hudson has his new thing, which is a chance to get in on at the ground floor, rather than replacing Drew Karpyshyn. It's probably more of a "cinematic" experience, seeing as that's what they have been talking about ever since Walters took over. So it's probably more linear, and thus easier to write.

What's at stake for me is sharing my frustration with the unnecessary wrecking of the one thing that I've really liked for the past few years, with people who are not wholly committed to denial, that's what. I like to feel like I'm talking to people, rather than drones.
