Yes. And the general trend is to convert quite a coherent Sci-Fi RPG into an interactive comic book.

Expecting to recruit a Spider Man in ME3!!!

I enjoy things like Gurenn Lagan and Bayonetta, where Rule of Cool is the only rule. If it's awesome, it can happen.

Mass Effect 1 already had magical superstuff called "element zero" (come on, look at the Periodic Table, no element would ever be called that in real science) that explained everything. It's barely a stone's throw away from giant mecha powered by manliness and self-determination. Don't pretend like it was ever hard sci-fi.

Why do I still wear pants in public? Because I don't want to get cold. Same reason why Shepard wears clothes, because he/she doesn't their nipples to get hard. :wizard:

The reason Squadies dont get armor is simply because They are the worst of the worst. They arent Alliance Military, they arent Cerberus.

Actually Miranda and Jacob are Ceberus, and the surely have access to the most advanced combat powered armor. As for Thane, SuZe, Grunt, Samara they are comicbookish.

All those characters are exposed to fire damage (flamethrowers), and a shrapnel (which travels at comparatively low speeds and for that reason can't be stopped by shilds/barriers). Even if you're blasting around in a pressurized environment, in case it's a spaceship, it can be decompressed all of a sudden. In the end it amouts to a major flaw in plasibility of value of such characters for a mission in frigging outer space! And it makes Shepard ih his fancy armor look comicbookish too.

Sudden decompression?

This is fully functional futuristic society that has been accustomed to life in space for some time now. I'm pretty sure the dudes who designed their space stations and ground settlements on hazadarous worlds would go to extra lengths to make sure that any accidental vaccums couldn't exist, or at least have emergency measures to seal them quickly, like Star Trek and those force fields.

It's not like we have to worry about Neil Armstrong puncturing a tiny hole in the lunar module.

I'm pretty sure the dudes who designed their space stations didn't have in mind that Shepard would carry heavy weapons in there and open fire.

I'm also pretty sure a wizard gave those dudes explosive absorbing bulding materials.

Jacob has on light armor that atleast has shoulder pads and a collar, Garrus and Tali have armor on and Modin or whats ever his name has one armor that appears to be the same type you see on the STG team on Vermire in ME 1. Al lthe girls aside from Tali (that needs her suit no matter what) don't have armor. Well Samara has a skin tight leather armor get up with Should pads but it's shows lots of cleavage up front so is in no way air tight hardsuit type of armor.

It's not an armor, its a fasion show suit. there are so many open skin on him that a single burst with a flamethrower should fry him dead, just like the other characters.

Only his biceps and head are exposed. And, really, being hit by a flamethrower should pretty much kill ANYTHING.

Not worth complaining about, really. I don't really care if not every single detail makes perfect realistic sense. It's fiction. There's aliens and biotics (force powers) and FTL travel, the list goes on.

Am I really going to bother wasting time and energy complaining about the practicality of my team mates wardrobes in a video game? Nope. Point of video games is to have fun, last I checked.

20th century's tech allows firemen walk on fire. I bet 22nd century's technology may allow survive exposure to much heavier fire. At least it was the lore in ME1. (But you needed a fully sealed hardsuit for that.)

Maybe, maybe not.  I included them in the list because it was supposed to showcase things that are in the game that do not (currently?) exist in real life so far as we know.

All of the things I listed may in fact exist and/or be possible in real life, but none of them are a known reality for us now last I checked.

The fires that fire fighters extinguish aren't designed by people to incinerate other people. A 22nd century flamethrower would probably project plasma or some kind of liquid oxygen-helium mixture, or something.

Fair enough. But, I mean, the only thing that makes an alien an alien is being non-native. When we walk on Luna, we're aliens to that moon.

You wanted proof, here it is:

Guest-68: are squad member outfits merely alternative appearances or do they incorporate stat differences and/or research upgrades?

CaseyH-ME2: We found that the main attraction to customizing appearance was on your own character, and managing armor etc on all 10 squad members would be onerous. So we deepened the customizability of Shepard's armor so now you can do it piece by piece, and we made the appearance of your squadmembers more of an aesthetic choice that you earn by gaining their loyalty.

No armor for squadmates. Here's the answer. It should be re added in ME3 I like managing my squadmates and all that, I don't care if it's frustrating for some people.

LOL, I'm pretty sure the dev's care. It's not the end of the world.

But it is known reality, that you can't move around on the high heels in the battlefield.

Perfect! That's exactly why I expect to see a Spider Man squadmate and a Santa Claus squadmate in ME3. The Santa Clauses can be badasses too.

"But it is know reality, that you can't move around on the high heels in the battlefield."

It's impractical, yes, but not impossible.  Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't recommend doing it IRL, but I'm not going to get my underwear in a twist over it either since it's just a video game, and not real.  It doesn't really matter to me all that much.  If it bothers you, well I guess that's your problem.

"Perfect! That's exactly why I expect to see a Spider Man squadmate and a Santa Claus squadmate in ME3. The Santa Clauses can be badasses too"

If you say so.  Call me a fanboy if you want but I think the people making this game are smart enough to know where the major lines are and to not cross them.  After all, despite your complaints I think it can safely be said that this game will still be immensely popular and profitable.  Bioware (or any developer for that matter) can't appease everyone.  The design choices they have made may not be what *you* specifically wanted, but then again they're the ones making the game.  If you don't like it, go make your own game and then you'll have the free license to make it exactly how you want it to be.

All I'm saying is you should pick your battles so as to avoid wasting time complaining about things that are, in the end, not very important.

On the other hand, if you're getting your amusement by way of articulate trolling, then by all means don't let me stop you.

I think the same. I know about free market thing and all the stuff.
Still, I can see no harm in articulating my concerns here. I'm not banned yet, so I think I don't cross any lines here either.

In the meantime, since the game clearly does not appease me in particular, by not including a tool to equip powered armor on the human squadmates at least (I can't see any reason why it could not be included as an optional feature, as it would be basically the same tool as for Shepard's armor), I'm starting to feel free to check out the torrent sites for special offers.

Fair enough, I just don't see the point in what I equate to nitpicking, however it's your right to do so if you choose.  All I'm saying, basically, is that despite the logical impracticality of certain squad member's revealed clothing choices for combat situations, I'm still going to play and enjoy the game.

And, in an effort to keep the topic from getting totally derailed, I'll just say that in *my* game at least, Shepard will still wear armor because it's as much a part of his identity as a lightsaber is to a Jedi.  He/She's just not Shepard without his/her suit of armor and gratuitous amount of guns strapped to his/her back.

Lucky you, I guess. And I am pretty much screwed, because moments like this and this were the best part of *my* ME experience.

Sorry, Zulu. You certainly do have a point, there. You're not acting like a crazy human supremecist for once, and I genuinely feel sympathy for you. I wish we could armor our squad mates, too.

I just hope they'll do something about it.

Again, what so difficult about equipping human squadmates with *the same* armor as Shepard wears? Just for the combat I mean.
