I figure this is the proper forum to ask this question rather then the NWN1 spoilers forum so I apologize if you think otherwise...

Now on to my question...For those of you who have played NWN1 Aarin Gend was a very important character for the story.  Yet for reasons unbeknownce to me, he appears not all in NWN2.  Infact, I believe hes not even mentioned once...So what gives?  You'd think he be in this game as his servitude to Neverwinter is suppose to be for life...Does anyone know of any reason why he was not in NWN2 at all?

Lol they do look quite the same...I guess it could just be a petty reason such as they couldn't get the same voice actor? Would be nice to find a legit reason though...

The real question is why he got cut out of NWN1. There's a draft of the original design document floating around somewhere, where Gend is given a big role in Act IV, leading the underground resistance during the occupation of Neverwinter.

Could have had something to do with the departure of Ferret Baudoin, who was lead designer of the OC until March 2006, when he left to work on Dragon Age: Origins. J.E. Sawyer took over as lead designer at that point. NWN2 was released in October-November.

Interesting...I suppose then Sawyer wanted to create his own important / quest giver npc which turn out to be Sir Nevalle (who is basically takes the role of Aarin Gend in NWN2 I would say) rather then use Aarin Gend perhaps?

nobody knows for sure. whatever the case the fine gentleman baudoin left a mess before he left obsidian in a mad rush. they had have to lure sawyer back to obsidian to clear up the gigantic mess.

'Tis a shame indeed...I quite enjoyed him in NWN1. If there is ever a NWN 3 (we can dream can't we?) I hope he's in it provided it's not too far in the future of course.
