Firstly, I did search to try to find this answer, but the number of posts were overwhelming..

Secondly, this is a spoiler about the end of the game and a human female romance with Alistair...

My question, will Alistair every choose to make your human noble female his queen? I hardened him etc., and was at 100% love and was quite shocked to get dumped.  I know there was the option to "persuade" him to have you rule by his side, but I didn't choose it to see what would happen.  It didn't seem to matter what I said after the landsmeet, he still dumped my character.  Is there a possible way to have him choose you? or was the "persuade" option, the only opportunity?

Just curious :)

It's all an act, he would rather have Anora.

And you weren't his first either. The forbidden fruit was not all that forbidden.

Nope - you can go from the tent scene with him just saying he'll do whatever it takes to make this work when you ask about the future, and if you don't bring it up the best you'll get is his bit on the side.... pays to be proactive, huh?

You must spring it on him at the Landsmeet. Romantic, isn't it?

I very much feel the same way! I still love him as a character but now I always remember the playthrough where he dumped me, and all the "love you forever" and "can never see myself without you" crap he said just to get me into his tent. lol If he weren't just pixels, I'd likely....I don't know. I'd be very salty! He'd have to watch out. lol

Dump me on the eve of my biggest battle...I got a sword with your name on it...

And you don't have to be romancing him to marry him. You get a better epilogue card if you never romance him, actually. You can be at 99 love and he'll dump you, but 100 friendly and he'll marry you. It's all about duty for him.

Can you elaborate on this? What epilogue card do you get if you're not romancing him?

Did anyone else get the feeling when he says "I get to marry the woman I love- what's better than that?" that he is being less than convincing? The whole ending of the Alistair romance gives me the feeling that the writers are signalling us that, fangirl hopes and dreams to the contrary, when it comes to marital fidelity Alistair's apple is not going to fall far from Maric and Cailan's tree.  At least not if he is made king.

*sigh* I still like the Alistair romance, but I think Zevran has ruined it for me forever.

No, I didn't think that at all, actually... though I can tell you if his apple tries to fall the way of Maric and Cailan I'll make sure his tree is pruned...

edited to add -> I think that was more of a hint of the fact that we might not be able to actually get married due to the whole archdemon death thing we didn't know about yet.

Alistair will always be the puppy love. Sweet and highly romantic, but easilly shattered with the weight of responsibility.

Although technically none of this happens if you don't FORCE HIM TO TAKE THE THRONE, YE SELFISH WOMEN!

But neither Maric nor Cailan were married to a woman who could kick her husband's ASS with a sword in her off-hand.

Oh yes they were!  Maric, at least.  (The real reason he kept Alistair secret, maybe?!)

I like going off a-Grey-Wardening with him, but feel guilty doing that to because then I'm killing the Therin line off... it's the reason I have so many saves, still not sure which endings to commit to.

Maric was never as "good" as Alistair. Maric was the stupidest man I have ever read to NOT suspect a certain witchy elf and to not notice a certain wood-named woman loved him.... So so so dumb.

I think the most romantic ending I had with Ali was Dalish warden who set him up with Anora and kept herself as his mistress. But, she was practical about such matters (the Dalish being nobility and pragmatic about survival, and she didn't even want to be queen). She went off to rebuild the wardens with Zevran as her personal assassin and Alistair joined her later.

Maric's just shy, and inexperienced!

And it's just blood. I hate royalty, I need them all to die. *nods*

It's really hard not to put Alistair on the throne, in truth. He's the last known of his line, and the country has been fighting to preserve its royal house. To simply have him walk away, and leave the throne to someone with no claim of blood, and who might be barren herself to boot, just seems...more irresponsible than reasonable. Also, his objections to the idea seem more like a defense mechanism than a true disinclination. I got the vibe that with the right support, Alistair would come to believe that he was worthy of his father's legacy, rather than just an unwanted substitute.

The sighs and moans coming from the tent didn't make him sound all that inexperienced....

Maric had an elf-fetish, another reason I don't romance Alistair as an elf anymore - his line squicks me out. Hate being liked because of what i am and not who I am ... even if it is programmed!! LOL

Maric was married to...Rowan, was it? She was a warrior?

Only if you believe that somehow nobility and honor is stored in blood platlettes, but I don't subscribe to that. A kingdom needs talent and meritocracy to function, not some discarded notion of bloodlines and voodoo magic,

Rowan was an uber-warrior, better than Maric, perhaps even better than Loghain.... She was awesome.
