And this is why we need Anora.
To keep those dirty elves in line *nods*

Quite the opposite. As I said, I'm hoping her heavy handedness is going to push them into full scale revolt and revolution. Like what happened with the mages in the Circle. Except the elves would have a better chance, given their positions.

Keeping on Anora on the throne is a great thing, yes. Keeping her on the throne, while she is married to my vastly intelligent, powerful, charismatic, genius and devilishly handsome PC is the best thing ever Image IPB

Since I've only played female PCs, Anora ends up quite single. Which means she is free to boink any number of studly, charismatic young lads as she chooses.

We don't know for certain if Anora is barren. We only know that while her and Cailan were together, they didn't produce. Cailan could have been the one shooting blanks.

Alistair is shooting half blanks, so as king, it's iffy that he could produce a healthy, normal heir with even a normal woman. Another reason NOT to have him as king, since that's one of the things that he will be expected to do.

Alistair stays a Grey warden Anora keeps the throne. I'm happy, he's happy, everyone's happy, except the Alienage, and unfortunately, they are going to have to make their own happieness.

No you can't save Loghain and still have Alistair marry you from everything I read.

Last night I finished my second run through. With a Human Noble and I wanted to see if Alistair hardened would marry my PC on his own. He doesn't. He goes through and says he needs and heir and two Grey Wardens that just won't happen. I really didn't like that ending.

Interestingly enough, much as I dislike Loghain, it was the first time I had any sympathy for him at all. This time I spoke to Loghain and the Kings Guards at Ostagar. He remembers you even though he obviously tried to get you killed. But it was the total regret on his face that struck me. If you don't talk to him at Ostagar he is not like that at Landsmeet.

So I redid Landsmeet and made Alistair King. When I do my Dalish Elf Warrior I am not sure how to do the right choices to be chancellor but I sure am going to try. But I still don't want Alistair marrying Anora.

The whole heir issue I have is, you can't guarantee that you will have children with anyone else either and history is replete with people that built dynasties that only lasted one generation (like Father to Son).

And I can't bring myself to run off to the Grey Wardens with Alistair, because thats more selfish and not helping Ferelden at all. I have to hand it to David Gaider, he is an awesome writer to have people feel so strong about this game and his books. It often feels like I really am the person I am playing. You don't get that just from reading books usually or even in most games.

Black roses are nice ... I'm pretty sure your biggest problem will be the bolts of lightning and frost she'll be shooting as you approach, though... the whole "don't try to find me" part I think she may take a tad seriously.

Alistair is either drunk (back in the days when I was merciful) or dead (I somehow enjoy this more) in my story.
I am King consort, Anora is Queen, Loghain is chief Recruiter of the Grey Wardens. And as commander of the army, I would plan to go to the Alienage and make them stfu by my mere presence. I was the one who saved their sorry ass afterall. And they are probably stupid enough to revel in my glory and quietly go back home like the good folk they are.

If only I were a Champion/Reaver, then I could knock you down and eat your soul.... alas most of my me's (LOL) are duelist/assassins or spirit healer/arcane warriors.... guess I'll just let Morrigan turn into a spider and eat you when you are vulnerable and think you've wooed your way back into her good graces.... we'll mourn your decapitated corpse.

Opposite for me: Loghain is dead, Anora on the throne, and I am recruiting Wardens while Alistair serves me, as he prefers to anyway, and Zevran on the side for a bit of variety. Alienage gets pretty much ignored, as does Denerim. Not my problem anymore, couldn't care less. Anora's headache.

Though I often wished I could have an epilogue where I could run off and become a bitter drunk myself, instead of either heroically dead, heroically in charge of something, or heroically wandering. Why should Alistair be the only one to get the choice, anyway? I saved this miserable country, if i want to finally say "Well, f*** you all, if another blight/civil war comes, you're on your own" I think i should.

Nothing wrong with being a bitter drunk! Heroism and glory's for suckers, I say!B)

Pfft, it's hardly hypocritical behavior on Alistair's part when he dumps you as a non-human if you force him to become king and don't harden him. The sad fact is that it's true that Ferelden nobles simply would not accept a non-human as queen. Unfortunately, Alistair really is serious about his duties, so anything bad that results is your own fault if you want to force him to be king. I'm of the opinion that you can't really blame him when you two could have happily stayed together as Wardens (that or harden him and accept being a mistress if you want to be his non-human sweetie *shrug*).

As for being a human noble and queen, well of course Alistair means what he says post-suprirse-engagement. However, I think that any appearance of reluctance on his part is due to the fact that you're both Wardens and you both have a dangerous job, one that means you could be squished by the archdemon or darkspawn at any time. I would think it would be difficult to be exuberant or super-enthusiastic under such circumstances.

As for the infidelity thing - Maric never cheated on his wife as far as anyone knows. He was in love with Katriel before he and Rowan ended up getting married. Only well after Rowan died did Maric fall for Fiona. BTW, Rowan and Loghain were in love and always were even AFTER Rowan married Maric, so I wouldn't dis Maric on the issue of being faithful (not that Rowan ever cheated with Loghain after she and Maric got married - they did get intimate prior to the Roawn/Maric marriage however). Based on both books, Maric seemed like a one-woman kind of guy and very serious about his relationships. Cailan always seemed a bit...flighty? Alistair seems to be more like his father than Cailan was. Also, the half-brothers had different upbringings as well.

Actually, the PC is the one non-human the nobility may very well accept as queen. Alistair cannot accept a non-human as queen though. He's the one who speaks up when you say you'll rule with him as a non-noble, there's not a huge outcry from anything else. You are saving Ferelden -- they love you.

Edit: Also, when you ask Alistair if you should make him king, he gives two very different answers (weird) but neither one of them say, "No, because then I couldn't be with you."  Would have been nice if he'd let you know before making the decision.

Well, I have to disagree with that about the PC being the one non-human the nobility "might" accept. Denerim Alienage, anyone? The racism thing is pretty clear throughout the game based on how people respond to elves on the whole, but eh, people can believe what they like. *shrug* I think based on reading the prequel books however, that it just wouldn't fly given the Katriel/Maric relationship (even Katriel brings up the issue).
