Seriously, there was no logical reason for them to cut the passive cooling system out completely making it so you cant use your weapon...

Completely retarded.

Because ammo systems have never ever worked before and always fail, right? Oh wait.

From the videos I've seen, I think the new system looks pretty seamless. Much better to just replace a heat sink, then to stand around waiting for your weapon to cool while you get shot at.

I like it but I think it makes no sense that a gun dosen`t cool down, EVER, after a long period of disuse except if a heatsink is put in it.

I totally agree. I have never seen ammo implemented in any game in a way that makes sense.

Wait...

oh yeah its so much better to have to take the same amount of time finding cover and reloading a weapon after every few shots and hoping like hell you find more clips on the next dead merc...

I mean its not like controling your fire and limiting it to short bursts could prevent you from overheating or nothing in ME 1... Shame the only way to cool a weapon down in ME 2 is to waste a clip and reload it.

"Raises hand" a generic ammo system wasn't needed. A change was needed, however, they could have been more creative about IMO.

Anything that is different is automatically bad! Are we friends now?

it was stated in an article somewhere... similar weapons share heat sinks, and when you run out of ammo for that weapon you automatically switch to a weapon that does. However, I don't remember where this is from.

and in one of the new vids... I believe it was the CES vids, it shows it having to switch because he runs out of "ammo" for his shotgun (I think its a shotgun)

I suggest playing Mass Effect 2 before saying it is 'retarded'. Thank you.

I prefer the ammo system like this. It's more fun, if you ask me. I think they should have made a hybrid between waiting, 10 seconds or so, to cooldown or manually reload.

Right that I understand I'm just wondering why he thinks automatically switching to a gun you can use is a worse system than doing nothing while waiting for a gun to come off of over heating.  Or if your refering to only firing in burst to prevent overheating there were still times where you would have to wait to fire your next burst so any systems would result in you not being able to use your weapon for at least a minimal amount of time.

I pretty sure that it's more than just a "few shots". Also, you don't know how abundent the clips are going to be. I know that in ME1, I ran into more than enough medi-gels. You might never be in too tough of a position with the clips.

Maybe you should wait to play the game, see how the system goes, and if you don't like it, THEN complain about it.

If anything then the old passive cooling system did not make any sense (enviroment did not even impact cooling)... cooling ratio/speed were the same even in hazardous (cold/hot) enviroments...

p.s. Just for the kicks... imagine to passively cool something like this, something hot. :D

Had they made the hybred system like that this wouldn't even be an issue. But you go from a weapon that has unlimited firing capability to in 2 years all weapons having limited ability to fire.... So limited that its possible to make it completely useless if unable to find more ammo.

That is NOT an improvement to this fanchise.
Everything else I have seen for this game looks amazing this retarded so called improvement is nothing more then a downgrade.

If it were JUST the heavy weapons, that would be one thing, but when EVERY weapon does this it is retarded.

Retarted is a bit rough, but after explaing why ammo wasn't needed, and now adding it does seem redundant.

Agreed, a hybrid system would have been better, and more believable! It really looks like they put it in to add another familar mechanic for shooter fans, but I may be overgeneralizing

Or we all could just wait a little bit longer... and... see for ourselves if it really is that bad (worse/better)!?

It's not that I think it won't be fun... I just see a creative system from the first game (yes it had flaws, but they could have been fixed) getting demolished and replaced with a mainstream one.

Well in a sense yeah only heavy weapons have limited ammo, but they dont use heatsinks, the other weapons use heatsinks (ammo) and they can also run out.
