plus no matter what people say on these forums they are going to go out and get mass effect 2 even though they claim to hat it or any of the changes the bioware has made based on the feed back that they got from the community to begin with

I have yet to say I hate ME2. Infact I have said that with the exception of the stupid ammo system that I think the rest of the changes look great and will be fairly enjoyable when my copy of the CE version gets here.

I personally think its stupid to have scrapped the combat system from the first game instead of improving apon it.
Instead they scrapped it for a generic shooter mechanic. That dont impress me. Then they add feul management for your ship.. again just seems like artifical game lengthing instead of packing it with good content.

Then there was the point back in July when it was confimed that NG+ was removed form it and the backlash got very very heated.
Magicly last month it was announced that NG+ was back in the game because as many pointed out it adds that extra amount of game play for those who enjoy reusing the stronger Shep.

Well ammo is just another fluff (at least it is to me) when the same thing could be accomplished with improving the passive cooling system and better balancing the mods for the weapons.

on a side note, I am only pissed about the 4 main weapon types needing this ammo system, I totally agree with the new heavy weapons requiring ammo, so you cant spam the mini nuke the whole game. But I am against the pistols, snipers, shotguns and AR's also requiring this ammo system.

Oh dear, another person that is pissed off because they cant get what they want, similar to a 6 year old!

on a more serious note,
first bold: And to what makes a generic shooter game? Although the RPG concept did make sense in game, the details that back it up seem......very odd indeed. Yes an elite N7 grad, highest in the alliance military!.....cant shoot a target that nearly right in your face....hhmmmm

second bold:
Fuel management makes you think.....so how is it artifically lengthing the game? BW probably has upgrades with the SR-2 Normandy that would almost remove the need for fuel.....second of all, it did state in the codex that all ships, although they have a FTL core, need a conventation engine to make the ship move.

Third bold:
Although this would have been an acceptable system, BW has already made its choice.....and theres nothing that we can do to stop it......soooo why complain?Image IPB

What's so wrong with ammmoo....eh, thermal clips? it probablly has the facts all written down on the ME2 codex......

Combat in ME was funky, as getting into cover was hardly needed after several levels

Oh well, im just ranting on, just another two cents, and people will always complain.......

Thank you :)

Although I don't like the idea, I do think it will be a welcome addtion. Mass Effect is a Shooter RPG, not just an RPG. Lore wise I don't like the situation but I'm guess there will be a good explanation. I think it also is going to prove to make people learn to play the game better and make use of all the mechanics.

I played vangaurd one playthrough with AR and after a couple of upgrades you had unlimited ammo and you never ended up having to use any of your biotic or tech abilities, the only think I would use would be Unity and Marksman and the one for the AR. However, I feel like this system will make us use this things and be a little more strategic. Doesn't mean I like it, but I understand it.

Sorry about the backround colors on the blog being so dark. I usually use it for screenshots and photographs. I didn't know where else to post that where I could link to it easily. Maybe I'll put my post somewhere else so we can force the ammo haters to go through it and respond to it, instead of random one liners they think are easy picking. :P

Edit:  Hey, I fixed it and inverted the colors.   Is it better now?  :3

Part 1, that was in the old threads right?  or at least partially?  Good stuff, and it even uses in game logic to support it.

Both parts were in that thread actually.   :D  Though I put a lot more thought in it between then and now.

Nicely put, mate.

And if you don't like it, then don't play it. Simple philosophy of mine. Whining about the ammo systems won't do anything at all.

and if no one ever complained then nothing would ever change/improve.

So no thank you I will continue to speak my mind about a feature that only dumbs down what is looking to be a great game. Something I didn't believe BW would allow to happen but I guess I was wrong.

I really doubt Bioware is going to listen to the opinion of someone who hasn't even played their game yet.

And yet the only two fall back to your "complaints" are "EA MADE THEM DO IT!" or "THEY DID IT FOR THE SHOOTER FANS"..

So all those other improved RPG mechanics were done for the shooter fans too? Wow.. and here I thought shooter fans hated RPG aspects - damn it shooter fans.. why did you have and go have BioWare improve all those RPG aspects?

Stupid improved story elements, damned deeper customation options that make sense...  damn you shooter fans all to hell.      ":D^_^;)"

I agree so why do you and yours insist on telling everyone how good the changes are?

People have the right to be worried.

Only people I see making assumption that they know for sure how the game will play is you and your shooter fans. Everyone else has said their concerns but admitted they will wait to play for final verdict.

Take your own advice I say.

The reason why we keep on saying how good the changes are?

Well YOUR kind keeps on telling all of us that its just like every other TPS with ammo mechanics, and figuring that ME2 is now follow the same "ammo" set up as the vast majority, if not all succesful games - then how can we call it bad - when we know how the mechanics work - and that they work succesfully, since everybody else does it?

The anti-ammo crowd: "Waaaa the shooting mechanics act just like Gears of War now!!"
The pro-ammo croud: "Yea.. and Gears of War does a very fine job of it too.. Now we don't have to fight a frustating game play mechanic any more, and focus more on the real meat of the game rather then groan as we try to kill 5 immunity spamming Krogans for half the evening .."
The anti-ammo crowd: "but... its... bad!"
The pro-ammo croud: "what is?"
The anti-ammo crowd: "It's EA's FAULT, It's EA's FAULT!"

I don't hear anyone saying that it's going to be good, just that it makes sense. And even if they are speculating that it's likely going to be a better system, it's a lot less melodramatic than "OMG DIS GAME NAO A SHOOTERZ INSTEAD OF RPGZ."

I hate to say it but i do not I will be able to finish this game as a soldier on its hardest mode since it has become pretty much a shooter with a good story...I am saddened by this since i am not that*i think im good enough for like the second hardest* good of a shooter player...means less replaying...less time...more dying...also not being able to use 1 weapon all the time...as a soldier...pretty much my complaints about this system.Il still beat the game on its hardest mode but its very doubtful it will be as a soldier.

I want to know where he got the can't use your weapon idea from.

it was stated in an article somewhere... similar weapons share heat sinks, and when you run out of ammo for that weapon you automatically switch to a weapon that does. However, I don't remember where this is from.

As long as "ammuntion" is plentiful I wont really mind the change...My concern, however, comes to "WTF are you going to use if you somehow, and miraculously, run out of ammo on every single weapon you have?"  Butt-Strokes will only get you so far and not all of us will be playing a biotic of some sort sooooooooo...On one level, I can see the OP's concerns...(if they are rooted in the same seat as mine)...On another level, that just means that I am going to be changing my Shep's Soldier class over to Infiltrator or using my Sniper Rifles ALOT more than before in the first game.  One shot, one kill, another dies because of skill :D

Yeah, you have the right to be worried. And if you worry over stupid crap and decide to post about it, I have the right to point out how stupid it is.

And enough with calling people 'shooter fans' like it's some sort of insult, and people who like shooters are coming to ruin your precious game. The only 100% shooter I even own is Halo 3, and I haven't played that in years.

I'm not a shooter fan. I'm a Mass Effect fan. And even if I was the former, so what?

whatever this new ammo system is, I'm guessing it will be better than the way guns worked in ME1. personally the way guns worked in ME1 made the game way too easy. get the spectre assault rifle, add the right mods, and you could just fire away without the weapon overheating at all. i don't know about other people, but i like a little challenge in my games.

You seem to be stuck on EA.
I could care less.
I am not thrilled about EA owning BW, giving EA's track record of buying companies and ruining them.

But I thought DAO came out pretty damn good. Well cept for the day one dlc nightmare that was all screwed up for a month or so.

Now as I said, I think all the other aspects of ME 2 look amazing, I am against however dumbing down the game with generic shooter mechanics instead of them improving and balancing the old system so it works better.

If we wanted to play a GOW type game, we would play GOW.

ME1 was about rpg perfected... and it was pretty god damn close, However ME 2 isnt about that its simply about intense shooter action.

I am sure the game will be a smash hit, especially now as it will appeal to more of the shooter crowd, but they still coulda had that without scrapping the entire old system instead of fixing it and balancing it out.

I dont think ANYONE would complain if the guns also ahd the ability to passivly cooldown as well.
I mean I understand the limited ammo for heavy weapons, but the regular weapons, al of a sudden needing this ammo system... is entirely unbelieveable.

And you do have the right to believe that what we are worried about is stupid, but whats even stupider is to think that just because we have concerns and issues with something that we shouldnt voice our opinions on the matter because someone else thinks its stupid crap.
This is a key gameplay element now. No reload no working weapons..... so its not stupid crap.

Oh, I never said you shouldn't voice your opinion. I just think it would be silly to expect people to take it seriously.
