I suggest playing Mass Effect 2 before saying it is 'retarded'. Thank you.
I prefer the ammo system like this. It's more fun, if you ask me. I think they should have made a hybrid between waiting, 10 seconds or so, to cooldown or manually reload.
Had they made the hybred system like that this wouldn't even be an issue. But you go from a weapon that has unlimited firing capability to in 2 years all weapons having limited ability to fire.... So limited that its possible to make it completely useless if unable to find more ammo.
That is NOT an improvement to this fanchise.
Everything else I have seen for this game looks amazing this retarded so called improvement is nothing more then a downgrade.
If it were JUST the heavy weapons, that would be one thing, but when EVERY weapon does this it is retarded.
Agreed, a hybrid system would have been better, and more believable! It really looks like they put it in to add another familar mechanic for shooter fans, but I may be overgeneralizing
Agreed.

Go to 1 min 45 sec into the video and you can see Shepard running out of ammo for the pistol. (Watch the ammo counter in the left hand corner)

I like having to deal with the logistics and tactics of supply conservation... rather than just spraying rounds callously with not a care in the world.
It's a welcome addition for me.

We know your stance, the game has gone gold. You can only wait to see and play with the system to make the final call before continuing to look like a spiteful little troll... oh wait.. too late on that last part there.

Well put. These threads are not meant to start debate. They are just an excuse for the OP to expres his opinion.

Indeed, the OP has already made it clear his contempt for the system. The sooner he realizes that it's not going to change, the better.izmirtheastarach wrote...

Stop going on about how much you hate it when you haven't even tried it out first hand

And over and over and over and over and over.
He has not brought anything new to the debate/discution/opinion.
He is not willing to try the new system, he has already stated he fully hates it.. and will continue to hate it.
He is unwilling to agree to, or to even partake in any fan-made logical debates regarding the change.

I do not despise this system, I don't need to even play it to know that because a version of it is in practically every other shooter made. Yes it won't change for this game, however, I would like to try and diswade BW from continuing with this system in ME3 (however unlikely this may be). It was a flawed system in ME1, but it was also more unique and that was something I liked. And as I stated earlier this system feels more like a cop-out than anything in my opinion.

Ask yourselves this.
Do you not like reloading?
Or do you just want infinite ammo?
Because I HATE infiinite ammo. There's no tension at all

I am sure they will continue to refine it if people provide feedback that makes it neccesary. Feedback which wil need to come after people have actually played the game.

I just hope you cant run out of ammo completely and have to storm and whack people with your gun...but a melee shep would be totally badass....
The ammo pick up are universal for the guns, but has seprate "ammo | heat sinks" for each of the weapons you carry. So while you may run out of a "ammo | heat sinks" for one of your weapons, you will still have lots of ammo for your other weapons.
All classes have other methods of damaging enemies, except for the Soliders, whom carry a lot of weapons - so running out of ammo for one means having to use another weapon for a few moments.
But other then that, you should be fine unless you just generally are a really super horrible bad aim or mess around and fire random shots into random objects for the fun of it.

(On a unrelated note.. spellchecker thru FireFox doesn't appear to be working with the new forums.. anybody have a fix?)

Its not whether or not I like having infinite ammo (which we still have). Its that this system is barely explainable by the lore and goes from being a fairly unique system to being a much more generic shooter system. (this is mainly what I take issue with)
The original problem with the first system was the mods which could have been reworked, but instead was thrown out the window for a very unoriginal system. I do not particularly care for unlimited ammo one way or the other, but I did like that it was different and that was refreshing to me.
