I don't think there is a tank or anything in ME2, actually. From the looks of it, you just get dropped off at important places and locations. Minerals and items of interest are just scanned from space, so there's no real purpose for the Mako or anything like it.

Yeah a hybrid system would have made alot more sense and been better then just changing the entire weapons layout completely.

It would make absolutely no sense to remove a passive cooling system, for a manual only one. especially one where you have a majorly limited supply of clips to use before your weapon is rendered useless.

Had they spent a bit more time making the hybred system and fixing what was wrong with ME 1 in that sense... it would be even better.

There's been nothing to indicate that running out of ammo is a problem. Not a single review has complained about it. Nobody who's played the game has even mentioned it. No gameplay video has shown the player even getting close to running out. On top of all that, you have a ton of abilities that are not only unlimited, but recharge extremely fast now.

The only class that even has to worry about possibly running out of ammo is Soldier, and even then, that class is so strong that your enemies will probably be dead before you even get to the halfway point. Unless you just waste ammo like a moron, running out won't be a problem. There's absolutely no reason to think it will be.

I have a very hard time believing they can make me believe that all weapons switched to this system in just 2 years. We'll see however.

If the old weapons were not powerful enough to break stronger barrier/shields/armor

This is laughable. In Terminus even now shield protection is uncommon...
Most probably because of high prizes for such systems. But "old" weapons are not strong enough to take those enemies down? Now something like heavy pistols are needed?

And what does he do after running out of ammo for that one weapon? He switches to another. Not to mention the other pistol he has, which 200+ shots still left it.

Different weapons have different strengths and weaknesses. The point is to use them in tandem and mix things up. If you stick to the same weapon regardless of what you're up against, yeah, you'll probably run out of ammo for a weapon or two. If fight intelligently, it won't be a problem.

This is my main complaint (regarding the removal of stats for weapon skill (besides dumbing down combat which is obvious to almost all).

Gone is the RPG aspect of making a unique soldier. Now everyone the same cookie cutter tank, all have same skill, same ammo, same everything.

There is no individualism in the soldier character anymore.

I know some of the less imaginative posters here and at old forums like this, I do not!

As it stands, Ill probably completely skip the soldier class this time around and thats sad as it was a fun class in ME1. With changes it just got nothing to offer in ME2. Everyone the same and thats boring and uninspired.

That just to goes to your opinion. I find the Soldier class is more unique and better diversified this time around.

Especially seeing as they have Adrenaline rush which actually changes gameplay instead of just being able to spam powers.  And that you can only evolve 3 powers fully.

And you can evolve each power in one of two ways.  And Concussive Shot, which no other class has or learns.

considering how dumbed down everyone says it all is......each class can only go 1 way with the exception of some special final skills can be slightly different.

the choice in this game is considerably less then it has been in other games when it comes down to specialization.THe last game was a bit unbalanced in some ways.

instead of trying to tweak the old they just threw a hammer at it and rebuilt.

For people who love shooters and RPGs would love this game...im only ok with shooters never been a big fan but since i was good at it it will stay in the just ok.I also feel the replay ability becomes very limited with how they are doing things now.I imagine il play this many times if im bored enough but after one play i will probably not play again till im very bored.

Seriously, there was no logical reason for them to cut the passive cooling system out completely making it so you cant use your weapon...

Completely retarded.

Satanic you know I dislike it but there is nothing we can do about it "now", it's not like NG+ for which there was plenty of time for a fix....the game is gold, let us just hop they did it right in ME2 and if they did not well we can start with a petition about it for ME3

Yeah because all you do in ME2 is fight the backwater-rag tag Terminus systems, you know the area of space the council is afraid to ****** off.  Yep no Geth, Collectors, or Krogan Battlemasters either.

Every class has two ways to go.

Take the Infiltrator class. In the original, the Infiltrator class was a long range specialist. You don't have a choice on the playstyle. You can focus on skills like decryption, but in the end you'd just be gimping your character. You pretty much had one way of developing your character, with very little variation in gameplay.

Now, though, you have more choice. You can choose either the Assassin or Agent specialization. Assassin's good if you want to stick to being a sniper, as it increases the strength of the rifle and powers. Agent is good if you like the stealth aspect, since it lets you keep Cloak power on long and makes it recharge faster.

And every single power has a branch like that at the highest level. That's why I really don't buy this 'dumbed down' thinking. It just isn't true.

If you run completely out of ammo, you suck at games. I could probably waste shots and still come out of a battle with extra to spare.

Back when they announced that in ME1 there'll be unlimited ammo, everyone complained
Now, everyone's complaining again
IMO ammo is much better

I don't understand, Doc. That 12 year old just said that the game was being dumbed down. Who should I believe? An ignorant noob with no supporting information, or you with your "examples" and "reasoned argument".

I'm just so lost.

It's not really being a noob or anything, but there's this mentality that people have which tells them less of something is always bad, that if you take away something you automatically make it worse. Doing more with less is an art.

Commando i can do more damage or keep immunity up with shock....

i tryed both ways my play style did not change a bit.

if i go assault rifle i can almost snipe people and up close it wasnt good against a guy with a shotgun*cause i would take quite a bit of damage for no reason*....with a shotgun it was going close up....with a pistol it was all mid range....never used sniper rifle wasnt very fun.

with all of them...theres only one way to play....use all of them....not custom....id be fine if i could still use the same favorite weapon...but i cant cause of the ammo

and the little stuff like cloak a lot of the time or all the time is so little...i didnt even use immunity all the time even though i could if i wanted to. so stuff like that barley has any affect on how I play.

just not enough choice.....im forced to play a certain way.

I think it would be better if they just reset your ammo reserves after a fight...you still get your limit and i still get to use my fav weapon almost as much as i want.

I don't mind an ammo system if it's done right.

I'm just worried they won't properly balance Insanity mode and ammo levels... playing through ME1 at level 60 on insanity difficulty, you and your team could spend a full minute spamming an enemy with shotgun blasts as his body ragdolls around in a corner. Immunity and Krogan regeneration made taking down a single enemy even more tedious. Max level warp was almost a necessity.

In ME2, will higher difficulties reward more heatsinks and a higher maximum heatsinks to carry? Or will enemy health and damage protection not scale so quickly with difficulty/level as it did in ME1?

Insanity difficulty should be a challenge, and it was in ME1 if you started from level 1... until you could start buying Colossus armor and Spectre/HWMA weapons that never overheated. In ME2 I would hate to save the game somewhere and quickly thereafter find myself in an impossible situation where there are more enemies than my ammo stocks could possibly handle. Though I didn't play the solider class, I can sympathize with their fears of this scenario.

In the end, though the new system makes me a little worried, I will reserve judgment until I've tried it. Worst case scenario? - I'll rely on the fact that biotic powers still have infinite uses, so long as you are willing to wait for the recharge timer.
