I have been playing this game off and on and always end up at level 27. With that in mind, what do I need to do to reach 30??

Thank You.

Once you complete the game once, it should unlock an achievement that grants a +25% XP bonus. That should be the biggest help. With that bonus, story and recruitment missions should be worth 1250 XP, and loyalty missiosn should be something like 938 XP (instead of 1000 and 750 respectively). You gain a level every 1000 XP so those bonuses will get you to level 30 faster.

Do you always start at level 1 (no import) or do you import games from ME1? You should start at level 3 from a level 50-59 import, level 5 with a level 60 import.

Are you completing all recruitment and loyalty missions? What about sidequests? You do not have to complete all sidequests (and with the XP bonus they should be completely optional), but completing a few would certainly help.

I haven't played 1 in a Very long long time. So I always start 2 from the number spot. So hat your telling me is that after I complete 2 again, I should keep playing until I hit 30. Or start the game once again at level 27??

Thank upo by the way..

To get to level 30 from level 1, you need 1000 x 30 XP, or 30,000 XP.

Long Service achievement (completing ME1 & ME2, or ME2 twice), you get a 25% XP bonus for all missions.

So it looks as if you have completed the ME1 and ME2 at least once,so you should have the Long Service achievement.

So, assuming you have the +25% XP bonus, and assuming you do not have any DLC, you should have:

1) Not counting the Suicide Mission, five (5) required story missions (Lazarus Station, Freedom's Progress, Horizon, Disabled Collector Ship, Reaper IFF). So 1250 x 5 = 6250

2) You have up to seven (7) recruitment missions (Garrus, Mordin, Jack, Grunt, Thane, Samara, Tali). So 1250 x 7 = 8750

3) You have up to 10 Loyalty Missions. So 930* x 10 = 9300
* I am rounding down to a nicer number

So 6,250 + 8750 + 9300 = 24, 300. This leaves you needing 5800 more XP to reach level 30.

4) Sidequests on planets (N7 missions) will earn you about 150 XP for completion with the XP bonus (125 without). I count about 25 N7 missions, so 25 x 150 = 3,750.

24,300 + 3750 = 28,050.

5) Other sidequests (such as "get the packages for Ish", or "deal with the Patriarch for Aria"), are worth about 50 XP with the XP bonus (only 40 without). I count about 20 that should always appear. So 20 x 50 = 1000.

So your total should be around 29,000 pre-Suicide Mission if you complete everything beforehand, no DLC. Completing sections during the Suicide Mission will earn you XP as well, although I am not sure how much. So if you have the XP bonus, you should hit level 30 after completing everything.

Without the XP bonus, you will hit around level 16 or 17 I think, if you complete everything.

If you have DLC, you should be able to hit level 30 without needing to complete everything.

So if you are trying to hit level 30 after starting at level 1, keep playing after the suicide mission if you have not finished everything and you should hit level 30.

DLC will help. All of them are pretty good. Cerberus Network DLC will give you some free DLC with it, including Firewalker missions, Normandy Crash Site, and Zaeed DLC.

If you cannot afford all the DLC but want at least one, then Lair of the Shadow Broker would be my recommendation. Lots of good missions plus some good weapon damage upgrades + a terminal for resetting squadmate powers (after completing the DLC).

Otherwise Kasumi-Stolen Memory DLC is good for the Tech damage upgrade, Locust SMG, and Flashbang bonus power, and Kasumi as a squadmate.

Overload DLC is also very good.
Arrival DLC is also good but not everyone likes it.

I do have all the DLC's. But unfortunately I'm starting fresh again on ME 2. And with all the DLC missions, I always end at level 27. So after I end this game, should I start fresh again, but with level 27??

Hmmm. Makes me wonder if you have the Long Service Medal achievement. With all the DLC you should easily reach level 30 in one playthrough.

I import all my characters into ME2, but even then I only start at level 3 most of the time. I typically play Arrival last, and never play all side missions, and I usually hit level 30 before the Reaper IFF.

Can you check to see if you have the Long Service achievement? If you have it and all DLC then you should always be hitting level 30 by the end of the game unless you are purposely skipping missions.

If you really want to hit level 30 and do not want to be disappointed by missing it again, then you should start a new game and import your level 27 character. I am just surprised that you keep missing level 30 even though you have everything.

Me too.

I have never started at Level 1, but I hit 30 way before I am out of missions.

Unfortunately I do not recall how high I got in my very first run in that game (I would have started at 5 since it was a Level 60 import)... as that was the only one I didn't have an XP bonus on.  Also didn't have any DLC whatsoever my first game (even though I could have had Cerberus stuff...).

I looked at my record, and I don't have the the "Long Service Medal". So with that said, how do I go about making a second game and importing the Mass Effect 2 game that I just finished??

Importing an ME2 character should be an option when you go to start a new game.

Check out masseffectsaves.com and masseffect2saves.com to get some import files if you don't feel like playing through ME1 again.

I went to the first site you suggested, and it was all about ME2 and how to load that into three. That's a non issue for me. I would though like to input some ME1 files into my MS2.

There is a link for both on either one. www.masseffectsaves.com is all about ME1-ME2
