Some of you may remember the Xbox One reveal that aired this week. In it, the Call of Duty franchise revealed the next revolutionary addition to their franchise: A motion captured dog.

The wonders of technology, eh?

You may also remember the Mabari hound companion from DA1, and to a lesser extent, the summon equivalent from DA2.

Now, should a dog return in a similar capacity for DA3, it goes without saying that they too, should employ this feature. Its clear that the folks over at Infinity Ward have discovered something that will soon become an industry standard. Inquisition should be no different.

Anyone else think that this would be a valuable application of BioWare's time and resources?

Yes! Definately when I see the Inquisition reveal it should all be about the dog and how realistic it looks and the commands you can give it. Image IPB

But was it....MOTION CAPTURED?

Otherwise you couldn't possibly bear any emotional attachment to it.

I thought this would be about how BioWare could do a better job in Debuting DA3.

Should they have celeberty endorsements?

What you don't want a machine that you need to keep on to play a game, that constantly watches you and your friends while deciphering your emotional and physical responses and sending information about you to Microsoft? Why ever not? It sounds grand.Image IPB

What they can learn from the Xbox One reveal...

Kinect, Kinect for EVERYTHING!
While playing the game, watch live TV, with your HANDS!
Mocap dogs
and the most important thing, enhanced fish AI.

Clearly, all games must now require jumping up and down in front of the TV, flailing your arms, to have any chance at all on today's discerning market.

Absolutely brilliant initiative by Microsoft to boost new life into stale videogaming.
Second only to their equally remarkable decision to strangle PC-gaming (as much as they can) which clearly held back the evolution of gaming.

I don't really care that much for a dog. I mean it was a good idea to make the dog a summon in DA2, but truth be told I hardy ever used the dog in either game aside from like the first few hours.

I highly doubt Bioware is going to waste resources on mocap animations for a dog unless he/she plays a significant role in the game. Be real here, was Dog ever a big part in DAO/DA2? I don't think so. I loved him but I felt he was never featured enough. Mocaps aren't cheap.

Does Bioware use mocaps currently on the noraml companions? I'm not sure they do as a lot of animations looked unnatural in DA2. Dog sure isn't getting it if human companions lack them.

You kidding me? You just think that the motion captured dog is what it takes to win back the market they lost? Bioware will need to try harder than that.

What we need to do is go one step further: motion capture cats.

Purrrrfect.

Good luck capturing anything from a cat, motion included.

Though... a real proof of their love could be a good move.

Motion capture black mamba, or I cancel my pre-order.

They already made the motion captured nug joke on twitter.

I think the real lesson they should take is that you shouldn't hold a big reveal ceremony just for the sake of it when you don't have anything particularly cool that you can reveal just yet. Or in other words, that they've proabably been right to keep quiet.

Why me no laugh?

So if I read you correctly, and I think I am....you're asking for a tactical dog as both playable character and love interest.

WIN!

If you have nothing to show, don't show it.
