Like other's have said, I like that the romance in DA2 "evolved" after having sex, but they didn't DO anything after that.. Dragon Age: Origins
felt much more natural.. Besides spamming companions with gifts until
they loved you (lol), you could take your time.. Then build up to the
actual night made everything worth it, to me. Worth more than your LI moving in with you. I mean you all slept in a camp together anyway. [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/wink.png[/smilie]
DA2's romances felt rushed IMO. You initiated it at one point or you
missed it completely, and you could only love on your LI at certain
points.

I hope they mix the flow of DAO relationships with the progressiveness of DA2's "moving forward".

And of courseee, bring back talking to your LI for the sake of talking! [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie]

I think the sex scenes are tasteful, tbh.

progress though the game and change the character like with Isabella
how u can change her in to a better person origins didn't have that

You can change characters in Origins, as well. "Hardening" Alistair, for one.

Hawke had a journal. You can find it in the bedroom of the estate, and when you click on it Hawke sometimes comments about party members making their own contributions to it. Crude drawings and whatnot.

Let assume Varric read Hawke's diary, but will Hawke record everything he/she say and his/her LI say and what they are doing on the bed before and after?

And why would Varric mention it all to Cassandra?

Cassandra is a woman, and an interrogator, she want to hear those things too?

cause Varric is like that in his books. is how he will tell them.

Also yes while the story was told in a narrative from Varric it was also "you" playing the game and writing the story he is telling.

Its a story telling medium. and not the first one to do something like this.

Actually I would like to see more of party members having their own romances e.g. Aveline and *spoiler* guardsman Donnic */spoiler*.

One of my favourite quests (and I hated DA2 and its quests in general) is helping Aveline out with her confession.

DA does LI much better than ME. DA2 especially so, but considering the waden is living out of a tent he/she did pretty good too. The ME version of LI is too simple and short lived. A few chats and a mission then rush into certain death with a "bang" then game over.Less of that please :( In DA you have an actual relationship to deal with. More of that please! :D

Morrigan was my favorite ^.^

I do think the romances go beyond sex, but I agree that the love scene is often the "reward" for pursuing a character for long enough. Though, in DA2 I romanced Fenris, and the (unshown) sex came half way through the game, it was his little speech before the last battle that really brought the relationship home for me.

I think Bioware in general are on the right lines for a romance in a game, but of course there is room for improvement in anything. They manage (for the most part) to avoid gratuity though I would like to see other physical affections (hand holding, mindlessly rubbing the shoulders etc) to add to the realism of a long term relationship.

The other thing that comes to mind from this topic are other characters having a life outside of your player character's little group. Obviously not easy in ME or DAO's blight, but the inclusion of, say, Aveline and Donnic in DA2 was fantastic, and it's certainly a good thing to be included in future games.

I read on the forums where David Gaider said that they will bring back of kissing your LI any time u want because a lot of fans missed it in DA2 and he said it is cheap to do so i think they might add other features to romances in DA3

One of the things I liked in DAO was the option to say to your LI "Lets go to sleep" and you knew what "sleep" meant. There wasn't another cutscene, but you knew the intimacy was there. One of the things I'd like to see in DA3 is that same option, but in a different way... I'd like for the LI to approach the protagonist (this is after the first love scene has taken place) and allude to going and being intimate. And the protagonist can either agree, and they kiss, or say no, another time, and your LI would feel a bit rejected... Much like what happens in real life! lol

You couldn't do that in Origins if you romanced Leliana. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you're right. The only person I remember being able to kiss whenever I wanted was Alistair.

Bioware games have yet to be turned into dating sims (although ME 3 came the closest). I like the romances as they are now.

I'm pretty sure Zevran's romance continued past sex as well.

I'm pretty sure it only actually starts after sex. Before that you're just flirting a bit.

Yes, because when two people kiss in public that means they're having sex.

Morrigan too. She would remark about the lack of privacy if you weren´t at the camp, with Leliana telling them to go and kiss if present.

I just want to get to choose when we actually sleep with Li's again, like in Origins. Saving it until just before the end means little when that's just the way the romance plays out, and It should be possible not to do it altogether during the course of the game, particularly if the game only spans a short amount of time.

I liked how in DA:O Zevran and Morrigan could pretty much sleep with you the first time you spoke to them in camp, because that fit their characters, while with Leliana and Alistair you had to gain their affection over time. You could offer it to them at any point and they would just refuse you until they were ready, which was great. It was even possible to romance them without sleeping with them altogether.

I actually liked in DA2 that the sex scene was half way through the game and not the end point. Having your lover move in with you was an awesome progession. Since RL relationships aren't about getting to sex then staying static until some random event in the future, they are a progression - like someone, then date someone, then sex someone, then move in, etc etc.

ME's way I don't like. Sex is always the end point of a relationship and it always occurs at a specific point in time.
DAO was ok, again though sex as the end point of the relationship (there were only a handful of convo's that took into account you were passed the sex stage), but it was more organic in that it didnt just progress at predetermined story points.

Actually I hated the sex scene placement in DA2.  They were all in Act 2, when they all should've been placed at different times.  A good example is Isabela's romance.  You should've been able to have sex with her in Act 1 since she approaches sex so casually.    While I didn't like the sex scenes of DA:O, I did like that they took place at different times from character to character.

The time jumps in DA2 were incredibly meaningless. It took three years for the companion Hawke wooed to want to be in a relationship? Mmmkay.

One can only hope the romances in DA3 make more sense.

Personally I think the romances should have a bit more progression to them beyond a few conversations and gifts and then sex. There should be more variety in these events like a festival or something like a date u 4 your LI. or at least the party hangin out in the pub where random things happen and u can either go w/ it or deny them and have a rival or something. because life is generally random and allow companions to have their own romances. like how anders secretly needs elven women decked out in tats.

I liked the style in ME1., lighting, music, romance; I liked the way DAO let you show affection whenever you wanted (at least with Alistair) and if they hadn't had their underwear I would have liked the romance/sex scenes just fine. DA2, ME2 bla it was nice that different LI had different settings, but overall, just sort of bla.

DA2 could have been ok, but afterwards (at least with the ones i did), nothing, no talk no affection, nothing except them standing at the top of the stairs, except Fenris who left. I want the illusion of the relationship continuing to grow throughout the game. DAO did this pretty well.

I'd love to see some humor, teasing with the LI, at least a couple of them. Adored Raven/Bastila and Raven/Carth dialogue in KOTOR. And I also like the idea of helping some of my companions with their romances. That was also one of my most enjoyable quest in DA2.
