I am now re-engaged in Doctor Who.

Peter Capaldi's hopefully gonna be GREAT.

Fun fact: Peter Capaldi actually previously played a character in the show in the episode The Fires of Pompeii, if you remember.

And he appeared in Torchwood too (the Children of Earth episodes)!

EDIT: Oops, added an extra "the" in - fixed!

I remember and I think he did a great job. The scene where he holds his family and begs the Doctor to save them really moved me due in no small part to his acting. Therefore, I think Mr. Capaldi will do a fine job and I can't wait to see him in the Doctor's shoes or Tardis as it were.

Also, I wonder if having an older actor playing the Doctor will shape this incarnation.

It will be a bit weird to see an older man playing the Doctor again, after seeing younger men playing the Doctor for a while now, but I'm really excited about Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor!

Cheers Peter, I'm looking forward seeing you as the 12th Doctor!

Also: It appears the new Doctor likes to swear a lot.

he'll be better than Matt but Tennant is still the greatest imo. Wonder how long Clara will stick around and if they'll still try to make them have a relationship or her important. Hoping they'll finish with River Song arc at last.

Yeah, I want River to finally finish up.

Tennant's still my Doc, but I've watched four Doctors so far. I need to get through more.

Finished watching Series 6. I could be wrong, but these all-series-long story-arcs just don't add up most of the time, though nowhere it's more evident and less fun than in Series 6. I mean, River being Melody? The child of the Tardis? Time can and cannot be rewritten? I didn't have a clue in this episode but at the end of the series I reveal it was all an act? The Doctor dies but not really because it was a machine although we see him regenerating in the very first episode?

I mean, it was fun to watch, and it had some great episodes like "The Doctor's Wife" but, if you ask me, this story-arc involving the Ponds was needlessy and obtusely complicated. Everything seems to revolve around Amy, directly or indirectly (River), and it becomes kind of tiresome. We get it, she waited, there's no need to keep reminding us of that over and over and over and over again.

Whatever happened to exploring the universe?

EDIT: Does anybody know where I can find the track that plays here?

I lost interest in Who because it turned into the Amy Pond show.

Clara brought me back.

Well earlier Doctor Who was a Rose Tyler show.

With Amy Pond, Moffat simply tried to do something similar to Davies's Rose Tyler. Whether Moffat failed or succeeded at that, I leave that up to you (everyone has a different opinion on it.

Also, this is so perfect and so absolutely true!:

Watch it to the very end. :')

NO!

River Song is awesome. She needs to stay.

And when they do wrap her story arc up, they better make it bloody brilliant! Don't let us down Moffat!

Eh. I didn't feel that 9/10's run with Rose was centered around her at all.

On the other hand, I definitely felt 11's time with Amy was based on her.

Well, like I said, different opinions and all that.

To me Rose and Amy are pretty much equal and I feel their importance and how they are portrayed is also quite equal, but after rewatching some scenes from both characters I do think I prefer Rose because she's more of an action girl that could take care of herself while I feel that Amy was a bit more of a liability for the Doctor, if you know what I mean.

That too.

Plus, I can't remember Amy having anything as awesome as Rose calling...well, poof

I don't see what's so awesome about that scene. Rose has much better, much cooler scenes, as does Amy by the way.

Really if you wanted to show of Rose's awesomeness, you could have chosen a better scene than that.

Then post a few examples. I'm referring to her B-trampoline line which had me in absolute stitches the first time I heard it.

Rose's little speech to Dalek Sec in Doomsday for example.

Or pretty much all of Rose's scenes from series 4, they were all pretty awesome and epic.

Amy I liked best in her very first episode, the finale of series 5 where she helped her younger self and in the finale of series 6 where she was a soldier in that alternative universe (where everyone had eye-patches).

Nothing trumps Doctor-Donna of course. She's the best.

She was pretty good in "Turn Left." Very Doctor-ish.

Can't tell for sure because the volume of the song is so low but I think it's this one.

No, it's gloomier than that one. I think it's not even on the OST.
