Moffat claimed the 8th Doctor was not involved with the 50th anniversary in any way.

So basically, it was BS. It was revealed today in an interview that McGann was brought in to film The Night of the Doctor in the final two days of production on The Day of the Doctor, and that they knew for the longest that it would happen.

They just had to deny it publicly the entire time so as to surprise the fan base.

So yeah. Moffat lies.

But McGann isn't filming The Day of the Doctor, is he? So, technically, he's not a part of the 50th anniversary special. Then again, he kind of plays a key role since he makes the decision to turn into the War Doctor to put an end to the Time War.

Thats the whole point.

The War Doctor regenerates into The 9th Doctor, who was very aggressive and war-like in his approach to the Daleks.

It took Rose to bring him back to his old ways, pre-incident with Cass.

Which says a lot about Rose, given she was able to pull that off.

And thats why the 10th Doctor told Rose to go off with Meta-Ten and fix him, since he was showing that war-like side of the Doctor that he had prior to Rose meeting him.

Well, it's not the first time it has happened. Indeed, several classic Doctors met each other if I recall correctly. I agree though, an explanation would be welcome. My theory is that since 11th ventured into his own time stream he's bound to meet other Doctors.
