What does everybody else think about Clara supposedly leaving after this season?

 

I have no problem with it. I have nothing against her, but with Capaldi being new as The Doctor, I think we need a breath of fresh air as far as companionship goes.

I think it'll be an interesting dynamic for the length that it lasts.

 

In a way, it'll be the inverse of the 10th Doctor and Rose. The older, grizzled Nine regenerates into the handsome, more youthful 10, and his relationship with Rose changes to be something more youthful, whereas the even younger 11 gets Clara to come along with him, and it's implied that she pretty much starts falling for him, only for him to regenerate into the grizzled 12th Doctor who's had a thousand years to reflect over his life and actions, and Clara realizes that the man she loved is gone forever, replaced by the older, more jaded man.

Well Clara explicitly mentioned that she had the hots for 11 in 'The Time of the Doctor'.

 

As well, a lot of their interactions often mirror the type of relationship and intimacy shared by 10 and Rose. 

 

Plus, Clara does like to flirt.

Considering that many longtime reviewers, fans, and crew-members acknowledged the resemblance, I'll have to say that your assessment is subjective, and objectively inaccurate.

I never saw a correlation between the two pairs. Just Clara as a companion that dug the Doctor quite a bit(with a hint of feels) while Ten and Rose were something far stronger.

Oh. My. Goodness. That maybe took a while to get going, but as soon as the episode allowed Capaldi to get into his own thing...

Hmmm. Ok. So yeah. It seemed like for the early parts of the episode, the Doctor was just working out who he was, and Capaldi played that brilliantly. Just senseless nonsense and tomfoolery. Which did get old quickly, but that just made it all the greater when he legitimately 'appeared' (I'd say about when he rescued Clara after her breath holding escapade. That was a very 'Blink' moment there btw. I only held my breath for about a fifth of that).

 

And so many great moments-

 

'I get the feeling I might have to kill you in a moment. Might want to get a drink before that.' (Or something to that effect)

'Your friend is intelligent. He will not follow me.'

And the insult Capaldi gave the robots, more than once he emulated a bit of Malcolm Tucker there.

 

Tardis redesign (with leather chair!), the call from eleven, Clara getting trolled repeatedly, the glorious musical score (need that now), and some feels at the end.

 

Brilliant. I cannot wait for more now that Capaldi's hitting his stride.

 

And ten house points for whoever gets me a gif of Clara getting taken out by the newspaper. Damn.

I liked it. It wasn't as good as the Eleventh Hour (best Doctor intro episode in New Who) but it's still a pretty decent episode. Capaldi is brilliant.

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one who did that. Although I actually managed the whole duration until she escaped the room. I would have sprinted at that point, myself. XD
 
I liked this episode. I thought the humor worked well and Capaldi is an amazing actor. Ambiguous ending too.
