My vote would be for a black Doctor Who, namely Paterson Joseph (Peep Show's Alan Johnson).

He already played a (minor) role in Doctor Who, so I'm not sure what that would mean for his possible candidacy as the next Doctor.

Personally I don't think it's gonna be him, though if they went with a black Doctor, he would be a good choice I suppose.

LOL another suggestion I saw being Georgia Moffett

Although I did wonder where the hell The Doc's Daughter went.

Then again, if you read the comment sections of female doc discussions throughout the net, you'll see a lot of "I'm not a sexist but..."

Yeah I like your idea too. I think I'll put your suggestion on the 2nd place of my favorite next Doctor candidates, which Andrew-Lee Potts on the 1st place.

I'm not going to put Hugh Laurie on the list since he never ever is gonna be the next Doctor, that's just wishful thinking.

Hmmmmmmm.  The girl who looks dead-on like Arya gave me an interesting idea.

Image IPB

Doubt it'd ever happen, but I'd watch the hell out of Naomie Harris in that role.

Ah great so now we are close-minded and/or sexists because we are of the opinion that having a female Doctor "just because" is a bad idea and not something we prefer? I thought you said a few pages ago that you're not judging us for the opinion of not wanting a female Doctor?

That girl ROCKED the Arya cosplay, I KNOW.

I think the reasoning that The Doctor has to be a guy so girls can crush on him is a little airheaded though.

I'm not judging. I just said what I've seen quite a bit. Its a trend, seriously. Look them up.

People are always gonna disagree on things, its always good to leave room for other opinions.

I think the reason why so many people start their comment with "I'm not a sexist but..." is because people on the internet in general are really judgemental and it's not uncommon that when you express an opinion that might even seem a little discriminating against women in even just the slightest little bit people will jump on your throat and think of you as some sort of bully who hates women. Trust me, I've seen it happening, especially here on the BSN, especially in the romance sub-forums (which is one of the reasons why that forum got closed by Chris Priestly).

I respect people who want a female Doctor, but I respectfully disagree and think it's a terrible idea, almost as terrible as the idea of having a female James Bond or a female Sherlock Holmes (yes, I kid you not, I've seriously seen people suggesting that the next James Bond and the next Sherlock should be women).

Yeah, I can't picture a female Sherlock Holmes or James Bond. Mainly because they're human beings and there's no way to really change the characters into women and have it be believable.

The Doctor though? Timelord. Gender swap between regens? Possibility established.

All they gotta do is, well, do it. But you've still got people goin around saying, "He was born white, he can't be black, he was born a guy, he can't be a woman" etc etc

I totally get the opinion that The Doctor should remain a guy. Hell if he ends up still a guy when he regens, I'd still love the fact that a regen happened.

But some people on the net, man. They might make you go crazy with their reasoning for keeping the status quo.

Well, "doctors" aren't sex specific, though.

I'm all for spy movies exactly like James Bond with female protagonists, though.

That was lame. There was no proof of where the rumor stemmed from, they just said there was a rumor.

Hell I could do that.

There's a rumor in Bangladesh that I will be the next Doctor.

Don't tell anybody but...

I'm not.

All dem haters....

Seriously, haters gonna hate, but I never understood the Moffat haters who claim he's a sexist homophobic hack-writer. Seriously, it's as if these people don't have anything better to do than searching for things to hate on.

Moffat? Sexist? I guess Whedon is too, as they write female characters largely the same. Amy and Clara are rather independent. And Clara has a life outside of the Doctor, as she's the only companion he has ever routinely dropped off during NuWho.

And hey there were people who even called Davies homophobic. So really, people on Tumblr are dumb.

Speaking about Davies characters, Captain Jack. I mentioned it earlier, but his reaction if the Doctor became a woman between regens.

I think it might be the only episode where he simply couldn't utter a single word.
