And hey there were people who even called Davies homophobic. So really, people on Tumblr are dumb.

Dafuq?  People did that? If anyone tried to be inclusive with his writing it was Davies. Characters like Jack Harkness should have made it blatantly obvious that Davies is not homophobic. Nevermind the fact that Davies is a homosexual himself.

Seriously, it's as if these people don't have anything better to do than searching for things to hate on.

It's the 'net.  People do that.

They called him homophobic because he killed off Ianto.

Yeah I don't get it.

Speaking of Davies and Jack Harkness, can anyone recommend the series Torchwood? I have not yet seen a single episode of it myself, but since Doctor Who is on a halt right now and I stopped watching One Piece, I need something new to fill up my weekly need of television. Is Torchwood any good?

I'm going to assume everyone has seen the season finale, but I'll still hide it.
John Hurt is the first "Doctor" to have a larger career before this role, and is also the first to have withstanding facial hair.
As for a female Doctor, I believe he said that he had a friend that could and did change genders when regenerating.
Recommendation(that I don't think anyone should take too seriously)

No.

Tiresome to watch, unlikable characters, no one plays off of Harkness's character very well and there seemed to be an overbearing sense of drama without humor and LOTS OF REALLY IMPORTANT DRAMATIC SCREEEEEEEAMIIIIIING.
Ianto was okay, because I like Butler-type characters, but I didn't like anything they did with him and he becomes just as bothersome as the rest of the lot.

Also points deducted for having no similarities to Doctor Who, stylistically or otherwise, which isn't really a failure of a spinoff so much as I would have strongly preferred something similar in comparison to what Torchwood ended up being.

I also feel like the show was written by fanfiction authors and not any actual writers. The insane amount of contrived "sexuality" doesn't feel a bit natural and I say this as somebody who loves seeing sexuality explored in media. Torchwood's brand is the stuff of adolescence.

Aaaand... I guess that it.

It does get a 7,3 on IMDB though, which is almost as high as Doctor Who (2005) itself. Maybe I'll just check a few episodes and see what I think of it myself. But thanks of warning me about the style of the story. I'll lower my expectations accordingly.

You mean those people who call the Doctor "Doctor Who"?

Yeah, I never quite get it how people could make that mistake. It's almost as silly as those people who think the protagonist of The Legend of Zelda is named Zelda.

Except even in the classic Series The Doctor was sometimes credited as Doctor Who, so I won't react if someone calls The Doctor Doctor Who.

Fair enough. I usually can't really be arsed when someone else names the Doctor himself as 'Doctor Who'. I do get irritated when someone names Link as Zelda though. :P

Eh, I have nothing against people referring to the Doctor as 'Doctor Who' universally. Everyone (who at least are aware of the shows existance and / or aren't fans themselves) will know who you are referring to if you say 'Doctor Who'. Simply stating 'The Doctor' will often make people ask "Doctor who?"

Lets be honest, everyone who's not for a female Doctor would embrace her immediately if she did this

I've been watching the Third Doctor as of late, he's the only one I skipped just because I didn't think the idea of the Doctor stranded on Earth and working for UNIT would do anything for me. But surprisingly, it has been very very good. I had expected the Doctor to be some kind of infallible man of action but I appreciate Pertwee hasn't played the part that way.

The third doctor is actually one of my favorites from the classics (Tom Baker is better though). Jon Pertwee played his part very well in my opinion.
