Am I the only one to notice that Bioware often goes to extremes, when we asked for the combat in Origins to be sped up we didn't mean for the hack 'n' slash pew pew combat we got, we meant for them to just make the combat from Origins a little faster, in Mass Effect 1 when we said the inventory system was crap we didn't mean remove it, there are other examples but my point is why Bioware, why do you need to go to the extreme of these changes.

Oh, you enjoyed never being able to enter star systems again because the Reapers apparently never had anything better to do than wait at your entry point for the rest of the game? We still kind of had to scan planets, but I take your point.
The Mako was kind of fun though, it was just climbing over mountains with it that was the big problem.

I imagine the only way it could be ruined is if it stopped being a Bioware game, I admit the railroad of plot in DA2 was...frustrating, and the characters did seem a little I forget what it is called, but they seemed themed to such a degree that they were defined too much by one aspect about them, Merrill was adorable, but so unbelievable I have trouble taking her along, It still bothers me that she thinks muggings are a hello when Hawke and her were attacked before by gangs and she knows what someone who is beaten up is like. I loved DA2 but the more I examine it critically...it lacked a bit. It still is better than other things on the market for MY interests. I would buy a game similiar many times, because it gives me what other games never do.
If DA:I had no choices, or no companions, I wouldn't like it. Also if the combat was so cutthroat that you lost companions if they "fainted". I suppose after a couple more DAII I could lose interest, but they are the only ones who go through character developement and, for me, give the world Character. I tried loving Skyrim, and before DA:I probably would have gobbled it up, but there was no in depth talking to the NPCs and weirdly...that ruined it. I read books for characters, and without the hero having friends to practice jibes with, or rivals to argue with...it loses interest. I realize I am a niche market, I don't even care about romance really, just the characters and their interaction with good ol throw downs thrown in.
I could even deal without the combat, which would be weird, but give me a game with a mage who can't use her powers for some reason getting out of the circle and remain in hiding with the help of companions? I am sold. It would be different, but I would love it. Just as long as it wasn't a puzzle game. I am probably the one person who would play Talking to Your Companions...The Game as long as it came with a plot.
I abhor shooters, but I played through 3 games of Shooters ie Mass Effect because the companions and the world. Grandmother of all Thresher maws? meh. Krogan culture as roving war lords, gender dynamics and relations with others? Yes! The fighting in Dragon Age2 was a bit dull due to being a little pointless. I certainly don't play them multiple times for the combat. I play for the roleplaying value which gives it worth due to the worlds reactivity to my choices and...the companions.
Thankfully, I don't think Bioware is going to go against their MO anytime soon, so there might be more or less interest based on the game, but they seem to be the only ones making my types of games.
Sorry this became more of a rant on why I will get most of anything Bioware makes, despite the level of value it might be as a game at large, less that I think the games are above fault, and more that with all their faults I enjoy them due to fitting my niche interests I don't expect anyone to have the same interests as I do, but it did help me understand why I like the games.

Cheers to that, I'm kind of in the same boat, if it's still a Bioware game, I'll buy it, because I like the Bioware format, keep the characters and world engaigning enough, and I'll even buy the DLC to get more of it. I'm really not finicky about gameplay. I play Pokemon for god sakes, you want to talk to me about tedious combat...

So long as the plot is satisfying, I generally don't care about much else. Unless the gameplay is literally unplayable.

Already ruined then I'd imagine. We all know that no matter how good this game is going to be, or might not be, people are going to complain over the small things. It's almost a BSN tradition at this point. The Grey Nayr wrote...

Return of characters I dislike (Anders, Loghain, Merrill)
Recycled dungeons
Ugly Elves
Return of characters that have endured plastic sugery gone bad (Alistair,Fenris)
A superficial story with a mute PC
Lovemaking with clothes on

tbh Bioware haven't made a "Bioware" game since Origins, now they make EA games.
and where do you think all the crappy stuff came from?
reason i picked up origins is because i played KOTOR. it felt similiar in play style and was highly enjoyable. EA buys them and it all becomes about maximizing profits.
if i don't see a return of the great story telling from pre-EA crony bioware, i'm not buying the game.
just a few more days and we'll know if DA I is a TRUE bioware game. or a PoS by EA

1. Decreasing roleplay aspects of the game.
- Less companions
- Less deep and interesting conversations with companions, npcs etc
- Auto dialogue. Looking at you ME3
2. Bad ending/story.
- I might not be invested as deeply in the DA:I main character as i was in Shep but I am still very much invested in the game world and would like to have the opportunity to at least SLIGHTLY shape it into something I have been trying to work for ( free mages for example).
Will write more later!
