I don't think it's so much that people liked or even enjoyed it. I think it's that most players pick the default option and just go with it.Hawke_12 wrote...

Sure it doesn't justifie removing the option, but if they want to put money on other aspects that they feel are more important, then they will sacrifice it.
Telemetry can't tell them why someone chose to play as a human, or why they didn't finish the game, only that it happened. Many people made characters that didn't make it past Ostagar. What is the reason for this? Did they want to see all of the origin stories? Probably. Did they wait until getting in the clear daylight of Ostagar to get a decent look at their character before deciding to remake him/her? Possibly. Did they feel they had made some "mistake" and desire to start fresh? Maybe. Was Dragon Age: Origins so damn boring that the prospect of going farther as a Grey Warden was too much to bear? Perhaps. The point is that we don't know any of these things. Even an entire thread of people in agreement on the BSN about some issue doesn't mean that the entire playerbase shares that view. The BSN is not an accurate sample because this is a niche group.

Perhaps I am such a big Dragon Age fan that I can't think of anything that would ruin it for me. I can think of things that would upset me more or less, sure. I was fine not seeing Morrigan in DA2, but to not find out at least a little more about what happened to her would pull at my heart strings. (Luckily it's been confirmed that Claudia Black, her VA, recorded dialogue for the game, so I'm content.) Also, I've been so excited by the team mentioning that our Warden and Hawke might make a cameo, whether in the flesh or by rumors/people mentioning them, that I'm sure I'd be disappointed if it didn't happen in DA3. But as long as the team keeps doing what they're doing, especially with all of the enhancements to DA3 as we've heard such as the engine running it, I am more than certain that I'll be a happy Inquisitor.

I don't really care about lot of the stuff DA3 is going to do and I don't need to in order to have a good time. If DA3 can be entertaining and provide a fun experience then it isn't ruined for me. That said if it fails to be a fun game you can expect me to mention why when it is released

Lol, I liked the silent PC. I read the dialogue in my head, in my own voice. Very immersive for me. :-)

To each their own really, I never liked the silent pc cause he never had any emotions, no facial expression either.
While Hawke had some emotions and some facial expressions.

Yeah I see the pros and cons to both. I'm not against voiced PC whatsoever. I just enjoyed the silent PC, too. :-)

As for what possible elements that may ruin my experience in DA3 will be listed, as well as a number beside the written dialogue rating my disappointment level on a scale through 1-10 (10 being the worse):
8- Excessive reusable environments.
10 -Dead characters coming back to life.
6 -Pointless or poor designed side quest.
10 -The player's decisions not mattering or impacting the game.
7 -A certain degree of fan service being contributed potentially harming the final product.
7 -Lack of immersion from its storytelling & surroundings.
5 -Bad A.I.

That doesn't tell you if the person also played other races. I count among that 80% even though I played only3 humans and close to 30 elves/dwarves. If you just kept pressing next in the character selection screen you end up with human male noble warrior and I think there were a lot of people who did that as well as people like me who play everything and people who will only play as humans/ themselves.

Those guy who will pick apart the one scene they dislike and disregard the rest of the game. Those fans who cyberstalk the devs on Facebook, Twitter, etc. and generally be a**holes to them. Those fans who will go so far as to sue the company over said disliked game
Yea...hard to really find any other reason

Apparently when they looked at the numbers a great majority of players only played the human noble origin, with the dwarven origins being especially rarely chosen.
And they also included VO for the PC.
elf and mage where my personal favorites.
don't take stuff away just because "statistics" say it isn't relevant. one of my favorite playthrews was as a dwarvven commoner

Even if they hadn't confirmed human-only -- which they HAVE -- I would wager that it is too late in the development cycle to start adding races now to heed your "no one wants that" shouts. Hell, they even removed a human barbarian origin for DAO after quite a bit of development. Removing planned things I can see; adding them, I highly doubt.kinderschlager wrote...
people keep putting references, but where are the blogs, the news articles? till you can point me to something like the open letter on dragon ages main website, i'm going to keep screaming NO ONE WANTS THAT!
Also, here is a tweet from Mike:@Mike_Laidlaw
Today I confirmed that DAIII’s hero will be human, with varied, detailed backgrounds. Largely, for story reasons, but also customization.
well damn
also, story reasons my ass. EA is behind that is my guess, too lazy to give us some real choices

Massive changes to the game notwithstanding [IE; suddenly becoming a cooking simulator or something], my deal breakers are:
- Have a small party roster populated by the worst characters.
- Retcon away more decisions made in previous games.
- Restrictive RP aspects. It doesn't need to be a 'traditional RPG', but it should feel like my character. Otherwise you might as well just designate a protagonist.
- Lackluster environments
Another big thing for me has already been broken, which is choosing another race. This is pretty big for me, because I'd prefer to be a non-human. That alone is enough to not preorder, but I'll still buy at release if the rest looks good.
you and me seem to be in the minority mate
