Doing another play through of the game and I'm wondering if mages and archers have deathblows, or is that just for melee users?

If you mean those little finishing animations then it's melee only I'm afraid.

'fraid not, gov'nor
Which is a shame, because I think that would be cool. However, I'm assuming the problem is that there would be so many different possibilities with magic induced deathblows.
I don't know, but I don't feel that they could match the sheer coolness that comes with melee death blows, anyway. If you're tanking and it has taken a LONG time to finally put an enemy away, it can be very satisfying to see that enemy be run through with your sword or face smashed to pieces by your shield. There is already a certain amount of satisfaction to be taken from killing an enemy from afar, before he's even had a chance to think about touching you.

Those finishing animations for melee aren't always right neither. Yesterday I killed an Ogre Alpha and Oghren finished him off by bashing the Ogre with the head of the axe, but not with the sharp side of the axe blade, but with the top side of the axe, the blunt point of Faith's Edge. A proper death-animation would be decapicating him with the sharp end of the axe of course. Now it looked like he was just giving the Ogre a bad headache before having him die from cutwounds.
